A little info about us: the high school opened in September 1969, and Gene Marcum was the first principal. Since the first year had no senior class, the first graduating class from Brazoswood was the class of 1971. Dr. Elizabeth Allen was the second principal, from 1991 to 1996. Larry Meche was the third principal from 1996 to 2001. Mike Benedict has been the principal since 2001. The faculty consists of 170 professional staff members, with an average of seventeen years of teaching experience. Twenty percent of our teachers have Master's Degrees. Brazoswood is an ethnically diverse school. The student body consists of 67% Caucasian, 6% African American, 24% Hispanic, .2% Alaskan/Native American, and 2% Asian/Pacific Islander. The school is located at 302 West Brazoswood Drive in Clute, TX 77531, in a wooded 100-acre site approximately 50 miles south of Houston. Brazoswood is a TEA Recognized Campus (Exemplary Rated) with an enrollment of about 2,400 students and serves the good people of the Clute, Lake Jackson, and Richwood, Texas area. The Bucs consistently enjoy great academic and athletic success each year.
