Exporters Win!
From March 7, 2013
It didn't finish like we wanted, but the team had another good showing this week. Most importantly, they started out 1-0 in District play after a nail-biting 5-4 victory in 11 innings on the road at Rosenberg Terry. Over the weekend, the team was in the El Campo Tournament. On Thursday, we defeated a tough Columbia squad for the second time this year by a score of 6-2 then had the opportunity to turn around and play host El Campo, who boasts one of the best pitchers around, in the prime time game that evening. In another 'edge of your seat' type game, the kids came up with a 2-0 victory. On Friday, the team beat West Houston 22-1 to win our pool. That set up a matchup with District rival Foster in the championship game. What started out good early in the game did not stay that way, and Foster ended up taking the trophy.
Congratulations to Jared Fletcher, Emond Hobbs, Aaron McIntyre, and Luis Saucedo who were chosen by the El Campo Tournament Commitee for the All Tournament Team!
Exporters Win 11 Inning Marathon
From March 5, 2012
Every game in District is a grind. Every road game . . . even tougher. That proved to be true on Tuesday as the Exporter Baseball Team went on the road to Terry for the District 23-4A opener. 11 innings and 3.5 hours after the first pitch, the Ships pulled out the crucial road win 5-4.
The team will be on the road at the El Campo Tournament this Thursday - Saturday before playing rival Angleton at home on Tuesday, March 12.
Exporters Win Second Straight Tourney
From February 3, 2013
The Exporter Baseball team went to the 54th Annual Wharton Invitational Baseball Tournament this weekend and came back tournament champions! It is the second consecutive year the team has won the Wharton Tournament and is the second tournament championship of the season.
On Thursday, the Ships came out strong in a 10-2 win over perennial power Bellville. That set up a rematch with defending Regional Finalist Columbia, who defeated us Opening Night, and that game did not disappoint as the Exporters came out on top 3-2 thanks to a two out, walk off base hit in the bottom of the 7th. The final game of the round robin style tournament pitted Brazosport against host Wharton. The team exploded for nine runs in the top of the first and then cruised to a 23-0 victory.
The Ships play their District 23-4A opener on Tuesday at Rosenberg Terry and then head to the El Campo Tournament next Thursday - Saturday.
Ships Win Tourney
From February 19, 2013
The Exporter Baseball team went on the road to the Cuero Invitational Baseball Tournament this weekend where every team except the Ships was ranked in a top 25 pre-season State poll. While there, they posted a 3-1 record (falling only to 4A #10 Victoria East by a score of 7-6) and came home with the tournament championship! This is the second consecutive year the team has won the Cuero Tournament.
In addition, congratulations are also in order for the Exporter JV Baseball Team, who won the Consolation Championship of the El Campo JV Tournament with wins over Wharton (12-0) and Columbia (7-5)!
Go Exporters!!!
Ships Drop Opener, Cuero Tournament Up Next
From February 19, 2013
In a strange turn of events, Opening Night wound up being played at home for the Ships instead of at Columbia. Due to a rainstorm that hit the area, the game was moved to Freeport at the last minute. The last minute change seemed to favor the pitchers as Columbia's Seth Romero and Port's Chris Gonzalez combined for 31 strikeouts in the game. In the end, Columbia took the win 3-0.
The Exporters will have to rebound quickly as the annual trip to Cuero starts Thursday. Every one of the opponents the team will face - Cuero, El Campo, Bishop, and Victoria East - are ranked in a pre-season poll.
Program to Retire Two Numbers
From February 11, 2013
The history of Exporter Baseball can be traced all the way back to 1927 when Brazosport High School was "Freeport High School." Over the last 86 years, the Program has had countless college players, several draft picks, and highly respected coaches, not to mention a myriad of men who have gone on to serve their community in other facets. Still, to date, the only player to ever have his number retired from the Program was Brad Thomas (#13), a 2004 graduate who served his country in Iraq. Now, two more numbers will don the foyer wall at the Baseball Complex.
The first new addition will be #2 in honor of J.B. Carroll. Carroll was the coach at BHS from 1962 - 1966 and was responsible for leading the Ships to the school's only two team State Titles. Interestingly, Carroll did not wear a number in his tenure, so '2' will be retired to honor those two State Titles.
The second addtion will be #13 (the number will be double retired, a precednt set by the New York Yankees) in honor of Ron Broaddus. Broaddus was a 1970 graduate of BHS and, to date, is the only first round draft pick in school history. Broaddus was the 21st overall pick of the Atlanta Braves after his senior year.
A ceremony will be help prior to the team's Home Opener against Palacios on Monday, February 25. Festivities will begin at 5:30P. Game time is slated for 6:00P.
Intersquad Down, Scrimmage Season Begins
From February 3, 2013
After fourteen innings of intersquad on Saturday, the Exporter Baseball Team is ready to line up against someone else. On Monday, they'll get there chance as Wharton comes to town on the UIL's first official scrimmage date of the year. This will be the third year the Ships have scrimmaged Wharton.
As for the intersquad, it was a great "sneak peak" at the team. Obviously, there are lots of things to work, but there is no doubt the team is moving in the right direction. Thanks to all the parents and fans who made it out for a beautiful day at the ballpark.
As a special surprise, the team got to take a ride on the Freeport Trolley after the big day!
Intersquad, First Scrimmage Set
From January 29, 2013
After a demanding first weekend and full week of practice, the Exporter Baseball Team will be looking forward to their annual intersquad scrimmage and first "official" scrimmage versus another school this coming Saturday and Monday, respectively.
The intersquad scrimmage, which will begin at Noon, pits Red against Blue in a "sneak peak" for fans of the upcoming season. Approximately twenty-two players will divide up and play for bragging rights. The intersquad also works in conjunction with the Salt Grass Chapter of Officials, who will be at the field working their yearly clinic in preparation for the season. There is no admission, and fans of all ages are welcome to attend.
After the warm up on Saturday, the team will face its first opponent of the season as the Wharton Tigers will come to town for the two teams' annual scrimmage. The JV will begin at 4:00P and will play until 5:30P. The two varsity squads will begin at approximately 6:00P. Again, admission is free, and we hope you will join us!
Angel Named Pre-Season All Greater-Houston
From January 21, 2013
For the second year in a row, Brazosport's Caleb Angel has been named to the Houston5ABaseball.com 4A Pre-Season All Greater Houston Team.
Angel played shorstop as a sophomore and anchored a stellar defense for the Ships. He fielded at a .930 clip and set school records for assists in a total season (61) and a district season (33). He also played in every one of the team's 203 innings for the year. He was the Golden Glove Award winner in the prestigious Cuero Invitational Tournament and Brazoria County's Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. Angel is now a junior.
Congratulations, Caleb!

Exporters Begin Ranked #5
From January 7, 2013
Where you finish is always more important than where you start, but starting #5 isn't a bad thing.
The Exporter Baseball Team has been ranked 5th in the Houston5ABaseball.com pre-season 4-A poll. H5A is the leading website for high school baseball in the greater-Houston area and covers teams from as far north and west as Bryan/College Station and as far east as Barber's Hill.
The Exporters begin the season behind former 5A power Tomball, Montgomery, Kingwood Park, and district rival George Ranch. The complete top 25 can be found on the H5A website at h5ab.com. A subscription to the H5AB Report is required to see all information. Details on how to subscribe can be found on their site.
This is the third consecutive year the team has been ranked in the top 25 to begin the season as they began as #17 in 2011 and as #15 in 2012.
Pre Season Meeting Announced
From January 3, 2012
The Exporter Baseball Program will hold its annual preseason player/parent meeting on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 6:00P in the LGI Room at Brazosport High School.
The meeting will cover try out and season information, important dates for the season, cover player and parent guidelines, as well as other information. The coaching staff knows everyone's time is valuable, so we will expedite the process as much as possible, however we feel there are items that must be discussed in order to facilitate better communication throughout the season.
Because of the importance of the meeting, it will be mandatory for any player who wishes to try out and at least one parent/guardian, even if the player has been in the Program before and/or is in the athletic period. No player will be allowed to try out, and consequently make a team, who does not meet with the coaching staff.
If a player is currently in another sport, they should still attend the meeting ASAP after their committments to the current sport are satisfied for the day. That player's parent/guardian should attend the meeting on time.
DOW Contributes $2,000
From December 27, 2012
DOW Chemical has once again come through as a major contributor to the Exporter Baseball Program.
Because of DOW's Freeport Sites' continued safety efforts, our local DOW employees were able to nominate a non-profit or charity of their choice to recieve a one-time, $2,000 donation. Once all the nominations were in place, DOW employees were able to vote on the group that they wanted to recieve the award. Exporter Baseball received the most votes and, consequently, was the benefactor of the contribution.
The money will be used to supplement our 2013 general baseball fund.
Thanks so much to DOW, all DOW employees, and our Exporter Baseball parents who work at the Freeport site!
2013 Clinics / Camps Announced
From December 20, 2012
The Exporter Baseball Program is proud to announce its lineup of 2013 Youth Coaches' Clinics and Baseball Camps, and there are changes and new opportunities throughout. The annual Youth League Coaches' Clinic will be on January 22 in the Athletic Field House. In addition to discussing techniques, drills, etc., participants will have the opportunity to actually take part in drills.
As a new addition, the Program will be offering Spring Team Camps on three select Saturdays in March. These camps will give whole youth teams the opportunity to work with Exporter Staff in a high school style practice and do it at the Brazosport Baseball Complex.
Our Summer Camp(s) will also see a change this year. Instead of having all age groups attend one session in the morning, campers will attend either a morning session (for our younger campers) or an afternoon session (for our older campers). It is our hope that in doing so, we will be able to continue giving players and parents the best instruction available.
Work Day a Huge Success
From December 17, 2012

Baseball Program Schedules Work Day
From December 6, 2012
The Exporter Baseball Program has scheduled a work day at the field on Saturday, December 15 beginning at 9:00AM.
The primary goal of the day will be to repaint the outfield fence along with several doors, gates, etc. However, there are plenty of things on and off the field that need to be done as well.
We look forward to seeing players, moms, dads, other family, etc. come take part in this very important day!
Lyster Impressive at HBU
From December 3, 2012
Brazosport Junior Dylan Lyster competed at the Houston Baptist University Showcase last weekend and was extremely impressive, especially on the mound.
While he did hit and play the outfield, the lefthanded throwing Lyster was at home on the mound. On Saturday, he stranded two runners in his first inning while not allowing a run, and then he came back in his second inning and completely dominated the line-up as he fanned two hitters and got a bloop pop up for the third out.
Way to go, Dylan!
Booster Club Contributes to Cuero Trip
From November 28, 2012
The Brazosport Athletic Booster Club gave a major show of support to the Baseball Program this week as they voted to fund the entire cost of the team's hotel rooms for the Cuero Tournament. The team will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Victoria which is the same hotel they have visited in the past.
The Booster Club is made up of dedicated parents and volunteers that encompass the sports on campus. The group, which reorganized last May, has raised over $10,000 for athletics in the last six months.
Thank you Booster Club!
Kinder Competes at Top 96
From November 26, 2012
While plenty of people spent last weekend recovering from their Thanksgiving feast, Senior Sean Kinder spent it competing against some of the top talent in the Houston Area.
Kinder had the opportunity to take part in the DeMarini Top 96 Showcase at Baseball USA's 'The Yard.' On Saturday, players took part in a pro-style combine where they showcased their defensive and offensive skills as well as their running ability. Sunday consisted of games and Kinder took part as a pitcher. During his outing, he faced 7 batters and gave up no runs.
Nice job, Sean!
Saucedo, Traylor Compete at UH Showcase
From November 19, 2012
Exporter sophomores Luis Saucedo and Michael Traylor competed November 17 and 18 at a winter Showcase conducted by the University of Houston, and both players represented the Program extremely well while there.
Saucedo, an infielder, played first base over the weekend. His showcase was highlighted by a double in Sunday's finale. He also made several quality plays at first base. Traylor, a pitcher/outfielder, put some quality at bats together with some outstanding defense (even taking a solid line drive away from Saucedo on Saturday). Traylor took to the mound in his team's final game and pitched extremely well, striking out 7 hitters.
Congratulations to both players!
Kinder Makes Trip to Minute Maid
From November 12, 2012
Brazosport Senior Sean Kinder recently go to do something only a handful of players ever do. He walked the field at a big league ballpark.
Last week, Kinder was invited to Minute Maid by the Houston Area Baseball Coaches' Association to have his picture taken alongside representatives from all Houston-Area schools.
Though the time on the field might have been quick, we hope it was a great memory, and we appreciate Sean representing our Program so well!
Scoreboard Refurbishment on the Horizon
From November 5, 2012
Thanks to a committment from BISD and a donation from the Brazosport CAER group, the scoreboard at the Baseball Complex is on tap to be completely refurbished.
The plan calls for all the vinyl letters and numbers to be removed and the board to be cleaned up. From that point, the scoreboard will be repainted and new, vinyl letters and numbers will be put up.
BISD is covering a substancial portion of the cost, while the CAER group is paying for the remainder. There are no plans for the Baseball Program or the Athletic Booster Club to offset any of the cost. The project is set to start toward the end of November and be completed well in advance of the season. This will be the first time the scoreboard has been updated since it was put in eight years ago.
Thanks to BISD and CAER for helping maintain the best baseball field in Texas!

Alumni Game a Great Time for All
From October 28, 2012
For the first time in over a decade, Exporter Baseball welcomed back some of its most outstanding Alumni last Saturday. It was a great experience for everyone involved.
While some former players took in the football game on Friday, most stayed out of the cold until Saturday when the Complex opened up with a bevy of activity. In the Closest to the Pin Constest, Kayne Coulter (Class of 1985), currently of Richmond, took the top prize and flew a ball inside of three feet of the pin. Next was batting practice and fungo, and it was easy to see some of the talent that our Alumni possessed in their playing days! In the Home Run Derby, the 20-30 MPH winds blowing straight in kept all the balls in the park, but Esben Galindo (Class of 1999) ended up with the furthest shot of the day - a 325 foot screamer that impressed everyone in attendance.
The highlight of the day was the actual game itself, and it was an absolute blast. Lots of friends and family were in attendance to watch the guys play like they hadn't missed a beat! Finally, the evening concluded with a great meal and fellowship at On the River.
Thanks to all who came out and particiapted. From the Alumni, to friends and family, to current players and their parents who made the event run smoothly, everyone showed the pride and dedication that being an Exporter is all about!
Exporter Baseball Welcomes Back Alumni
From October 24, 2012
Exporter Baseball is both proud and excited to welcome back its alumni this weekend. For the first time in over a decade, the Ships will formally roll out the red carpet for their former players.
Things will kick off Friday night as the Alumni have been invited to join BHS at the football game versus Lamar Consolidated. On Saturday, former players will compete in a closest to the pin contest, take batting practice, have a home run derby, and play in a game. The evening will conclude with dinner at On the River.
Welcome back Alumni!
Blue Team Wins Classic in Game 3 Thriller
From October 22, 2012
This was the way it was supposed to be. The Exporter Red and Blue Teams battling it out for supremecy of the Brazosport Fall League, and the two teams didn't disappoint.
Through the series, pitching dominated as if most often does in big games. In game 1, the Blue team won 3-0 behind a complete game effort out of Junior Chris Gonzalez. As good as the Blue was in game 1, the Red responded in game two with their backs against the wall. Junior lefthander Sean O'Connor threw his best game of the fall. It turned out to be a complete game as his Red Team took advantage of some miscues by the Blue and went on to win 5-1.
That would set the stage for game 3, and it was exactly what you would expect from a deciding game. Junior lefthander Dylan Lyster took the mound for the Red, and, though he pitched well, the Blue was able to eventually score two unearned runs to take a 2-0 lead. But, the Red would chip away as they scored in the game's middle frame to make it 2-1 and then scored again in the bottom of the sixth to tie it up 2-2. That would take the game into extra innings. In the top of the 8th, the Blue would score a run to go up 3-2. In their half of the 8th, the Red threatened, but could not push across the tieing run against sophomore Phillip Allen who ended his masterful, complete game performance with 5 strikeouts.
Award winners for the Classic were:
Top Defensive Player: Mike Martinez (Red)
Top Pitcher: Aaron McIntyre (Blue)
MVP: Phillip Allen (Blue)
NCAA Award: Alex Amador (Blue)
+90 Award: Caleb Angel (Blue)
Top Hitter: Travis Simmons (Red)
Blue Team Members were: Arnie Gonzalez, Alex Amador, Jon Reyes, Caleb Angel, Phillip Allen, Luis Saucedo, Aaron McIntyre, Rylee McGee, Chris Gonzalez, Lexi Navarrete, Ricky Nino.
Congratulations to the Red and Blue on a great 2012 Classic!
Fall Classic On Tap for This Weekend
From October 17, 2012
With both the Exporter Red and Blue Teams playing so well, what better way to end the Brazosport Fall League than with the annual Fall Classic?
The Classic matches up the two Brazosport teams in a best two-of-three format. Games one and two are scheduled for Saturday, October 20 at 1:00P and 3:00P, respectively. Game three, if needed, will be played on Sunday, October 21 at 2:00P.
Admission is free and concessions will be available. Teams will be introduced, we will have the National Anthem, and there will be a first pitch prior to game one at approximately 12:45P on Saturday.
Simmons / McIntyre Take Top Honors for Week 6
From October 14, 2012
Week 6 of the Brazosport Fall League saw the Exporter Red and Blue Teams completely dominate their competition. In four games, the Ships combined to go 4-0 and outscore their opponents 40-7.
In the first double header of the day, the Red Team took on Brazosport Christian and, after a shaky start where BCS scored two runs, left little doubt which team won the day. As the Red rolled to wins of 11-2 and 14-3, it would be Sophomore Travis Simmons who took home Player of the Day honors. Simmons was, litteraly, unstoppable at the plate. In seven plate appearances, the speedy right hander had 5 hits (3 singles, 1 double, 1 triple), 1 Hit-by-Pitch, and 1 Walk. He also contributed 5 RBI on the day.
Games 3 and 4 of the day matched the Blue Team against Sweeny. After winning a hard fought 2-1 battle in game 1, the Blue would score 7 runs in the first inning of game 2 and then cruise to a 14-3 win. Sophomore Aaron McIntyre would deliver the only 2 runs for the Blue in game 1 on a bases loaded, two out, two strike single. That would prove to be all the Ships needed as the pitchers dominated from that point on. In game 2, McIntyre would take to the mound and strike out 6 in his 3 innings of work. He also continued swinging a hot bat as he, all tolled, woud have 3 hits and 3 RBI. His effort on the mound and at the plate would garner McIntyre Player of the Day honors for the Blue Team.
The Brazosport Fall League will conclude next weekend with the annual Fall Classic. In the Classic, the two Exporter teams are pitted against each other in a best two-of-three format. Games 1 and 2 will be played on Saturday at 1:00P and 3:00P. Game 3, if necessary, will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00P.
Six Exporters Invited to Dell Diamond
From October 10, 2012
Last weekend, the Exporter Baseball Program was honored as six current players were invited to the Team One - Under Armour Showcase Event at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. The event was co-hosted by Ryan-Sanders Baseball, which are the groups that own the Round Rock Express and the Corpus Christi Hooks, respectively.
Senior Sean Kinder, Juniors Caleb Angel and Chris Gonzalez, and Sophomores Aaron McIntyre, Jon Reyes, and Travis Simmons recieved their invitations to attend in September. The group was selected by Team One respresntatives and scouts after receiving and initial nomination.
While there, the group represented the Exporter Baseball Program in outstanding fashion. Kinder and McIntyre both attended as pitchers and both threw two successful innings. Gonzalez was there as a pitcher/infielder. He threw two innings and played in the field, collecting multiple hits. Angel, Reyes, and Simmons were there as position players. Each of those three played tremendous defense and collected multiple hits.
The three day event showcased some phenomenal baseball talent from across Texas, as well as Arkansas and Florida. Congratulations to these six guys AND their teammates who work hard every day to push each other and make each other better.
Go Exporters!!!
Saucedo First Tw0-Time Player of the Day
From October 7, 2012
Luis Saucedo kicked off the 2012 Brazosport Fall League in style earning Player of the Day honors back on September 8. As good as he was that day, he may have been better this weekend.
In two games where the Ships dominated every facet of the game versus Brazosport Christian (13-0, 9-0), Saucedo stood out, especially at the plate. Over the double header, he would talley 4 hits and 5 RBI. His two singles and a double were nice, but the biggest blast came on a bases loaded, bases clearing triple to centerfield.
Next weekend, the Brazosport Red Team is slated to take on BCS at 10:00A and 12:00P, while Saucedo and his Blue Team will tackle Sweeny at 2:00P and 4:00P.
Congratulations, Luis!
Angel Shines Under the Lights
From October 2, 2012
Weather once again caused some changes to the Brazosport Fall League schedule as the entire weekend was rained out and a make-up game with Columbia was played under the lights on Monday evening.
The game would ultimately end in a 3-3 tie because of the time limit, but the Exporters controlled the game from start to finish as nine different pitchers threw an inning each (Brazosport did not bat in the 9th inning). Despite those solid performances on the mound, it was Junior position player Caleb Angel who took home Player of the Day honors.
Angel was busy Monday night to say the least. He started at shortstop and turned a key 6-3 double play to end a Columbia threat in the first inning. He had 2 singles, a walk, and 3 stolen bases offensively, and just for good measure, he threw out two differnt would-be Roughneck baserunners when he moved to catcher during the game's middle innings.
Well done, Caleb!

Exporter Baseball Players Get Uncomfortable
The playoffs, not to mention any big game, can bring some tight situations. In those moments of uncomfortableness, it is not the inability to hit, pitch, throw, or field a ground ball that leads to a player's (and a team's) demise. Often, it is that player's inability to "be comfortable being uncomfortable."
Because of that, Exporter Baseball Players have started the "Uncomfortable Project." Between the beginning of school and the end of the first semester, players have been asked to put themselves into at least two different uncomfortbale situations. Those situations could deal specifically with baseball and/or athletics, or they could just entail players doing something outside of their "normal," such a volunteer work, etc.
Players have hit the ground running with this, and, truth be told, are having a good time with it. To date, the team has had players do things like spend a day participating in a beach clean-up, compete in a tennis match (even though they had never played before), run a lemonade stand on a busy street, and paint their faces and go cheer on fellow student athletes at an athletic event, just to name a few.
With plenty more projects to come, we cannot wait to see what the guys come up with next. All tolled, it boils down to doing ONE more thing to help the Program turn in to, not a perinnial playoff team, but a team that perinnially ADVANCES in the playoffs!
From September 22, 2012
Traylor, Gonzales Top Week 3
Another weekend of the Brazosport Fall League is in the books, and the Ships tallied three more wins as the bats came alive to score a total of 28 runs over four games.
In the first doubleheader of the day, the Red Team took on Sweeny and would eventually split the series. Sophomore Michael Traylor would take home Player of the Day honors thanks to some solid work offensively, defensively, and on the mound. At the plate, Traylor would contribute a walk, 2 runs scored, and a sacrifice bunt. He also pitched two innings, striking out 5 Bulldogs. In the highlight defensive play of the day, Traylor, while playing centerfield, would race back to the centerfield wall and make a great twisting catch that saved at least one run.
In the afternoon set, the Blue Team completely dominated Brazosport Christian by a combined score of 19-2. There were a myriad of solid performances, but none more so than Player of the Day Chris Gonzales. Gonzales, a Junior, was in complete control both on the mound and at the plate all day long. As the starting pitcher in game one, the right hander would set the tone for the day by punching out 7 Eagle batters over three innings of work. With the bat, he was even better, as he tallied 4 hits including a triple and 3 RBI.
Nice job Mike and Chris!

Exporter Baseball Welcomes Home Brad Thomas

Fall Ball Week 2 Brings Rain / Wins
Week 2 of the Brazosport Fall League saw two games get cancelled because of weather and the Exporter Red and Blue teams dominate the other two games that were played.
Heavy rains Thursday and Friday night couldn't slow down the Ships this week. In game 1 of the afternoon, the Red Team took on Columbia and won by a score of 5-1. The Player of the Game was Senior Sean Kinder. Kinder was the starting pitcher, and in his two innings of work, he did not allow a run, gave up one hit and struck out four hitters. At the plate, he had two hits and two RBI.
Game two had different teams but a familiar tone. This time the Blue Team would take on Brazosport Christian, but the score of the game would once again end up in a 5-1 win for the Ships. The Player of the Game for the Blue was sophomore Jon Reyes who would play solid defense at second base and be a force at the plate where he had two hits and an RBI. His RBI came on a hit by pitch opportunity that would allow the team to take the lead for good over the Eagles.
With better weather expected next week, the League looks to get back on track with its regularly scheduled games. On Saturday, September 22, the Red Team will welcome Sweeny at 10:00A and 12:00P, while the Blue Team will take on BCS at 2:00P and 4:00P.

Martinez / Saucedo Lead In Opening Weekend
The Brazosport Fall League kicked off last weekened, and there were plenty of strong individual performances from both the Red and Blue Teams.
For the Red Team, junior Mike Martinez took "Player of the Week" honors. Martinez was solid behind the plate in game 1 where he both called and recieved a solid game. In game 2, he moved to third base where he made a stellar defensive play as well. At the plate, he had a single and would later follow that up with a deep fly ball that would eventually drop, setting up a scoring opporutnity for his team.
"Player of the Week" for the Blue Team goes to sophomore infielder Luis Saucedo. Saucedo had what was, perhaps, the best offensive day by any player on either team. In his team's two games, he collected 3 hits and 2 RBI. On the defensive side, Saucedo was strong at first base. He would eventually move to third base, where he made a nice play as well.
Congratulations on a great weekened Mike and Luis!
Both teams will be back in action Saturday, September 15. The Blue Team will kick things off with a doubleheader at 10:00A and 12:00P. The Red Team will follow with their doubleheader at 2:00P and 4:00P.

Fall League Set to Begin
Members of the Exporter Baseball Program will soon get a chance to work on their skills through the fall league that the team plays in annually.
Beginning Saturday, September 8, players from Brazosport High School will take on players from Brazoswood, Angleton, Sweeny, and Brazosport Christian School. All games take place at the Brazosport Baseball Complex, and games begin at 10:00A, 12:00P, 2:00P, and 4:00P each weekend.
This year, the Exporters will have a "split squad," much like Major League teams during Spring Training, consisting of a Red Team and a Blue Team.
Game days for the fall league are September 8, September 15, September 22, September 29, October 6, Ocotber 13, and October 20/21. The league will conclude on October 20 and 21 when the two Brazosport teams take on each other in the "Fall Classic," which is a best of three series between the teams.

Reyes Brings Home Award
Jon Reyes recently brought home the Gold Glove Award from the fifteen and under Babe Ruth World Series in Van Buren, Arkansas. The award is given annually to the top defensive player from the ten team, tournament style Series.
While at the tournament, Reyes played shortstop and second base for the Brazoswood area team that finished in second place behind a strong Kentucky group. He consistently made routine plays at both positions, while also wowing the crowd with multiple "highlight reel" efforts at second.
Reyes is a sophomore for the Exporters this year. He played second base for the playoff bound Ships in 2012.
