Black Mountain of Maine
Located in the Longfellow Mountains of Western Maine, Black Mountain has operated for over four decades, offering affordable downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding to folks in the area. It has also been the site of a number of world and national cross country skiing championships over the years. Black Mountain was recently purchased by the non-profit Maine Winter Sports Center, which is helping Black Mountain expand and reach out to the communities of the River Valley.

Grafton Ponds Nordic Ski Center
Directions into Grafton:
From Londonderry, VT and west, follow Rte 11 east to Chester. Turn south on Rte 35 (by the True Value hardware store) and follow to Grafton. Turn right and then left in front of the Old Tavern. Follow Townshend Road 3/4 mile out to the ski area.

From Bellows Falls, VT and east, follow Rte 121 west through Saxtons River into Grafton. Turn left in front of the Old Tavern. Follow Townshend Road 3/4 mile out to the ski area.

From Brattleboro, VT and south, follow Rte 30 north to Townshend. Turn north (right) on Rte 35 and follow signs to Grafton. Turn left toward Grafton at Y about 6 miles after turning onto Rte. 35. Ski area on right after another 6 miles.

From Springfield, VT and north, follow Rte 11 to Chester. Follow directions from Chester above.

Mountain Top Resort

Notchview Reservation

Oak Hill Hanover, NH
The Dartmouth Cross Country Ski Center maintains over twenty-five kilometers of groomed cross country ski trails on Oak Hill, the Golf Course and Garipay Field in Hanover, New Hampshire. The Center is based out of the DOC House on Occom Pond, which provides equipment rentals for skiing, skating, and other winter activities, as well as group and private instruction.
Oak Hill is located in the north-east corner of Hanover. To get there, go north on Route 10 past the Golf Course, turn right at the Co-op gas station, then take a sharp left after the road turns to dirt — park in the first clearing on the right.

Rangeley Lakes Ski Trails
The Rangeley Lakes Cross Country Ski Trails are located in the heart of the scenic western mountains and lakes region of Maine. The area has the best snow conditions in the East, with an annual snowfall approaching 200 inches. The snow conditions plus fantastic terrain make skiing here a wonderful experience for any skier from novice to expert.

In the summer of 2005 we moved our ski center from the Loon Lake Road location to Saddleback Mountain. The 35 kilometer system of loop trails will be immaculately groomed by Pisten Bully groomer to a minimum of 14 feet wide with a skating lane and classic tracks on all trails. A 735' square foot (30' diameter) yurt from The Pacific Yurt Company is currently serving as our ski lodge until a permanent lodge is constructed. It is located in Rangeley just 2.5 miles off Dallas Hill Road on Saddleback Mountain Road. Ski rentals, wax, waxing benches, and clothing items are available in our lodge. And let us tempt you with hot chocolate, coffee, soda, bagels, cookies, or other delicacies on your return from the trails. Lodging availability ranges from fine hotels or bed and breakfast accommodations to motels and private luxury winter homes and condos, or quaint cabins.

Rikert Ski Touring Center
The Carroll and Jane Rikert Ski Touring Center, which is owned and operated by Middlebury College is located 12 miles east of Middlebury on Route 125 just 2 miles west of the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. Situated on the Breadloaf Campus of Middlebury College and bordering the Green Mountain National Forest and the Robert Frost Homestead, The Rikert Ski Touring Center offers 42 kilometers of varied and scenic trails for cross-country skiers and snowshoers of all abilities. Rental equipment, repairs, and waxing rooms are available in the Center’s Ski Shop where one can also find snacks to enjoy by the cozy woodstove. A fulltime staff of instructors offers both private and group lessons. So whether you’re a novice out for a scenic tour or an expert racer putting in some hard training K’s, the Rikert Ski Touring Center offers the variety and challenge that will satisfy all levels of skiers and snowshoers alike.

The garage that once held the wooden skis has been replaced by a contemporary lodge with a retail shop and equipment rentals (including our Fischer "demo" program). 45km of groomed trails and 100km of back-country trails make the ski center Stowe's largest - suitable for all ages and abilities.

U-32 High School
One of the top-ranked schools in Vermont, U-32 is a public middle and high school with an enrollment of about 850 students in grades 7-12. VABEC Trails adjacent to BUHS/BAMS/WRCC
Driving Directions

VABEC (Vermont Agricultural Business Education Center) is located in Brattleboro, in the southeast corner of Vermont close to the New Hampshire and Massachusetts lines.

From the North and South: Take US 91 to Brattleboro Exit 1. Coming off the exit ramp turn left if coming from the North and right if coming from the South. Turn Right at the first traffic light (Fairground Road) toward the high school. Make your first Right on to Atwood Street which bends left and becomes Sunny Acres. The Bratleboro Area Middle School will be on your left. Continue to the end of Sunny Acres and turn Right on to Old Guilford Road. The VABEC trails are a half mile up Old Guilford Road on your right. VABEC is a collection of red farm buildings on the right just before Fort Dummer State Park.

From the East and West: Take Rt. 9 into Brattleboro. Go south on Main Street to Canal Street, then turn left on South Main Street. Follow South Main (it turns into Old Guilford Road).

Wild Wings Ski Tourning Center
Wild Wings is a small, family-oriented cross-country ski center located within the boundaries of the Green Mountain National Forest in Peru, Vermont. A converted horse barn houses our rental shop and warming room. We have rentals to fit all sizes: skis 70 cm. to 210cm and boots from kids size 10 to adult size 15. In our shop we have available for purchase those items you may have forgotten such as waxes, gloves, hats and trail snacks. And you can treat yourself to hot chocolate and soup served in our warming room. We do not allow skate skiing or dogs on our trails.

Prospect Mountain
Prospect Mountain is located on Route 9 in Woodford, Vermont. The small town of Woodford, which is just 7 miles east of Bennington, has the highest elevation above sea level of any town or city in the state of Vermont. The base elevation of Prospect Mtn. X-C Ski Area is 2250'. This is the highest base elevation of any alpine or cross-country ski area in the state. The high elevation is an important factor in providing consistently good ski conditions at Prospect. During the fall, winter, or spring months, it often snows at Prospect Mountain when it is raining just down the road in Bennington. Even if your backyard is green or brown, don't hesitate to call Prospect to see if there's a blanket of white on the ground. You don't want to miss out on the fun!
