Ortonville too much for Bluedogs!
Sunday afternoon the Bluedogs traveled to Ortonville for a non-conference game. Matt Kruize started on the mound working 5 innings giving up 7 runs, 5 earned. Lee Nelson was tagged with the loss in relief. Harley Hazel had 2 hits and 3 RBI's in the loss. The BLuedogs are now 8-2 on the season and play Osakis next Saturday night and Alex on Sunday afternoon.

BE defeats Kensington!
The Bluedogs come away with another victory on a soggy Saturday night. Rain pushed the game back an hour and when the two teams finally got going it was BE coming out ahead 17-7. Mike Bruns picks up his 2 win of the season going the distance. Mike threw 8 innings giving up 7 runs, 4 earned. BE pounded out 20 hits lead by Nate Meissner with 5 hits, Chris Shea, Lee Nelson, Travis Santjer, and Tyson Meissner all collecting 3 hits each. Brandon Evansville is now 8-1 on the season and will travel to Ortonville tomorrow afternoon for a non-conference matchup.

Bluedogs pick up a Friday night win!
Friday night the Ashby A's came to town and the Bluedogs came away victorious by a score of 11-1 in 8 innings. Kyle Bruns had another impressive outing adding his 4th win of the season on the mound improving his record to 4-0. Kyle pitched 8 innings and gave up 1 unearned run on 6 hits, 4 strike outs, and 3 walks. BE was lead by Nate Meissner and Travis Santjer collecting 7 hits and 7 RBI's together. The win bring the Bluedogs record to 7-1 and play Kensington tomorrow night.

BE defeats the A's!
On Sunday afternoon the BE Bluedogs defeated the Ashby A's by a score of 8-2. Travis Santjer pitched 5 innings of relief to pick up the win for the Bluedogs. Leading the bats was Lee Nelson with 2 hits including a 2 run homerun, Tyson Meissner was 2-4 with an RBI and Josh Meissner was 2-3 with and RBI. The Bluedogs are now 6-1 on the season and play Ashby again next Friday night in Evansville.
Monday, May 31
BE wins big at Osakis and Kensington
BE played 2 games on Sunday, the first against the Osakis Hawks coming out ahead 17-1. Kyle Bruns picked up his 2nd win of the season going 5 innings. Matt Bruns pitched the final 2 innings. The Bluedogs used 3 long balls to pace the way. Nate Meissner hit a grand slam in the 2nd inning, Matt Bruns hit a 3 run shot in the 3rd followed by a solo shot by Chris Shea. BE collected 12 hits total, improving to 4-1.
Game 2 was at Kensington and the Bluedogs won this game 14-0. Travis Santjer was the winning pitcher going 3 innings. Nate Meissner threw the next 3 and Matt Kruse pitched the final inning. BE is now 5-1 on the season and play the Ashby A's next Sunday.

BE beats Bombers!
Friday night the Bluedogs defeated the Urbank/PP Bombers 9-3. Mike Bruns picked up the win for the Bluedogs going 7+ innings giving up 3 runs on only 2 hits and 6 walks. BE scored 9 runs off 10 hits led by Travis Santjer with 3 hits and 2 RBI's. Brent Meissner had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. The Bluedogs record improves to 3-1 and now will have an action packed sunday, playing Osakis at 1 and at Kensington at 5:30.

Bluedogs handle Predators!
On saturday BE traveled to Long Prairie and defeated the predators 13-3. Kyle Bruns threw a great game picking up the win going 6+ innings giving up 2 runs on just 4 hits while striking out 4. BE scored 13 runs off 10 hits, and taking advantage of 10 Predator walks. The Bluedogs improve to 2-1 on the season and have a tough schedule next week matching up against U/PP Bombers Friday night at 8 pm, Sunday against the Osakis Hawks at 2 pm and then at 5 pm against the Kensington Norsemen.

Bluedogs Outlast Tigers
BE Bluedogs defeated the Miltona Tigers on Sunday in walk off fashion. Mike Bruns started for the Bluedogs going 3 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs. Travis Santjer threw 4 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs, and Nate Meissner pitched 1/3 inning facing one batter and picked up the win. BE gave up the lead in the top half of the 9th inning and came into the bottom of the 9th trailing by 1 run. Teddy Wood reached on an error and Tyson Meissner reached on a single to left field. Wood and Meissner advanced on a double steal and with 2 outs Josh Meissner hit an RBI infield single scoring the tying run and with an error on the throw scored the winning run in walk off style. The Bluedogs will take on Long Prairie next weekend.

Bluedogs lose opener
BE Bluedogs were defeated in the regular season opener by the Clarissa Flyers by the score of 3-0. Charlie Woida of the Flyers kept the Bluedogs at bay only collecting 3 hits. Travis Santjer picked up the loss for BE going 5 innings and giving up 3 runs, 2 earned. Chris Shea, Travis Santjer, and Tyson Meissner each had one hit in the loss.

BE begins 2010 season!
The BE Bluedogs began the 2010 season with an exhibition game against the Bertha Blazers falling short 10-9.
Monday, August 24
B/E season ends
The Bluedogs season ended Sunday when they ran up against a strong St. Cloud Ortho Ice team in the first round of the State Tournament held in Gaylord/Arlington. Casey Kowalski a draftee from the Fergus Falls Hurricanes started on the mound throwing 3+ innings allowing 7 runs. Travis Santjer came in relief going 2 innings allowing 3 runs, and Mike Bruns threw the final 2 innings without allowing a run. The Bluedog bats were kept quiet by Ortho pitcher Scott Gieger. Nate Meissner got the only hit for the Bluedogs. That wraps up the 2009 season for the B/E Bluedogs with a final record of 21-5.

B/E heads to State!
Entering the Region 16 C tournament the Bluedogs took on the Hawley Hawks and defeated them 7-3. Mike Bruns picked up his 7th win of the season allowing 3 runs. With that win the Bluedogs moved into the winners bracket and matched up against the Midway Snurdbirds. B/E defeated the Snurdbirds 5-4 in 10 innings. Travis Santjer threw 8 1/3 innings earning a no decision. Chad Zimmel a draftee from the Osakis Hawks threw 2/3 of an inning picking up the victory, while Nate Meissner came in for his 3rd save of the year. That win matched the Bluedogs up against the Wolf Lake Wolfpack with the winner earning a berth to the State Tournament. Kyle Bruns pitched a great game working 6+ innings getting his 3rd win of the year. The bats were hot being led by outfielder Ryan Hendrickson going 3 for 4 with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI's on the night. The Bluedogs beat the Wolfpack 12-2 in 7 innings earning their second State Tournament appearance. Last state tournament appearance being in 2002. B/E will play on Sunday Aug. 16 for the Championship game and a seed to the State Tournament.

B/E win Region 16C, secures 1 seed into state!
The Brandon/Evansville Bluedogs headed into the Region 16C Championship game on Sunday Aug. 16 taking on the Midway Snurdbirds again. The Birds beat the Wolf Lake Wolfpack a day earlier to secure a birth into the state tournament. The two teams were in for a marathon. The Bluedogs defeated the Snurdbirds 18-13 clinching the number 1 seed going into the State Tournament. Draftee from the Osakis Hawks, Chad Zimmel picked up the win, while Ryan Hendrickson was awarded Tournament MVP hitting 5 homeruns in 4 games. The Bluedogs will take on the Region 10C runner up St Cloud Ortho ICE on Sunday August 23, at Gaylord Mn with the first pitch being at 5:00 pm.

B/E to play in Region 16C tournament
The Bluedogs defeated the Alexandria Senators twice on Sunday securing 1st place in the Resorters West. They will take on the Countryside Wild Card on August 8th at 2:00 pm in Pelican Rapids.
