THE 2004 REBELS @ THE OYSL SHOWCASE
The 2004 OYSL Rebels have a "new" look with 4 fresh faces in their line-up to go with their 10 returning vets. Although the look was "new" the results of the Rebels first two games in the OYSL Showcase were vintage Rebel results. Playing the brand of soccer that great teams aspire to, the Rebels took on a familiar foe in the Sudbury Canadians in their first league game of the year. Solid ball possession, defense and opportunistic scoring, led by Stef Morra(2), Stef Vescio and Katy Lynn, saw the Rebels carve out a 4-1 final over the Canadians.
Day two of this opening Showcase pitted the new London Forest United team against the Rebels. The Rebels played a more scrappier game but once again managed to come out on top with the identical tally of 4-1. Stef Morra again potted two goals with Chany Both and Daniella Carnevale rounding out the scoring. Great teamwork and support all around! Well done ladies! A great start to your season!

REBELS RETURN FROM THE CLASSIC WITH A BRONZE FINISH
Tropy3rdPlace
Click to see pixs of the trip!
Congratulations to all the Brams United Rebels for their fine showing at the Orange Classic! The Rebels finished in the medals and brought home third place awards for their division of 28 teams. This mega showcase tournament took place from Dec.27-30 at Fort Lauderdale, Florida with over 300 teams and 300 College Scouts in attendance.
Day One of Preliminary Pool play matched the Rebels with the 2002 Classic Finalists from Texas, the 87 Texas Heat Wave. Playing on a very narrow, rough field, the Rebels scratched out a decisive 2-1 victory. Although the score was close, the amount of possession favoured the Rebels by a large margin.
Day Two was a double-header day. The Rebels took advantage of a much larger field to easily handle the Twin Cities Fire from Minnesota and won 2-0. The second game of the day was a repeat performance by the Rebels against the Jacksonville Fury from Florida. Tight defense and many excellent scoring chances by the Rebels again resulted in a 2-0 victory which placed this Brampton team in first place in their pool.
The third day of play started at noon with the 1/4-Final game pitting our girls against the FC Westchester team from New York. The gals from Canada again dominated this game with excellent ball control and tight defense to post their fourth victory of this tournament with a 2-0 score.
The semi-final contest, later that evening was a clash between the Rebels and a team from Plano Texas, the Texas Spirit. Plano just happens to be the sister city of Brampton. The Rebels again dominated the majority of the play during this game but couldn't find the back of the net. Missed shots, a hit goal post, shots right to the Plano Keeper resulted in a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation time. Straight on to penalty kicks to decide the outcome. After 5 kicks the score was knotted at 1-1 requiring sudden-death penalty kicks. The Rebels lost on the fifth sudden-death shot to gracefully bow out of the tournament. In a fantastic showing of true "sportsmanship", the Rebels and Spirit posed for a group photo and an exchange of well-wishes! What a great ending to a disappointing loss!
Team members at this tournament included Isabelle Ah Chin Kow, Joanna Alexopulos, Emma Al Haydari, Chantelle Both, Sabrina Chirco, Amanda Cicchini, Deana Everrett, Nikki Kross, Katy Lynn, Lauren Maybury, Carolina Mejia, M-J Parsi, Emily Pratt, Leslie Quigley, Cortney Stewart and Stefani Vescio. The Rebels are coached by John Fioze, managed by Gord Kross and trained by Patrice Lynn.

WOW! -THE PDA-WHAT A TOURNAMENT!
The Rebels travelled to New Jersey to take part in the PDA College Showcase and were not disappointed! The Rebels were the only Canadian team in the U16 bracket which featured many USA nationally ranked teams. The first two games saw the Rebels meet two of the top four ranked teams in the tournament and, although competitive, fell in defeat 2-0 against the Oceanside Blue Express and 5-2 against the Langhorne Strikers.
Day two into the Rebels Outdoor Season was a different story. The Rebels put their outdoor game into high gear and defeated the Rhode Island Rays 2-0. Ball movement, great passing, tenatious defending, and opportunistic finishing by the Rebels kept the Rays off balance for the entire match. The Rebels were gaining confidence with each game. Unfortunately, Day Three was washed out with the rain which forced the Rebels to head home to prepare for their first OYSL game.
What a tournament! Gorgeous fields, four qualified refs for each game, top-notch competition, and an organized event staff that ran each game on time! Thanks PDA for a fantastic tournament! See you next year!

Brams United Rebels Repeat As Ontario Indoor Cup Champs 2003
The final match of the 2003 Ontario Indoor Cup for U16 Girls saw the 2002 defending Indoor and Outdoor Cup Champions from Brampton take on the 2001 Champions from Mississauga Erin Mills. The highly talented Rebels from Brams United played a quick game of ball control mixed with long passes to beat the hard pressing Erin Mills Eagles 3-1 in this 2003 Indoor Cup Championship match. Deana Everrett opened the scoring on a turn-around drive to put the Rebels up 1-0 early in the first half. With 5 minutes left to play in the first frame, Leslie Quigley potted the eventual winner with a blast from the right side as she sped by the Eagles defender. This was quickly followed by the Rebels third goal one minute from time when Lauren Maybury stepped into a rush to put home a finishing strike to stake the Rebels to a 3-0 half-time lead.
The Eagles got one back early into the second frame but could not make up the difference against a strong Rebels defense. The Rebels continued to counter-attack and saw several great opportunities go just wide or hit a post.
In the earlier semi-final match, the Rebels proved that they were deserving Champions by beating the Dixie 88's, who had the same record as the Eagles in pool play, by a score of 4-0. Deana Everrett, Stefania Morra, Chantelle Both and Emma Al-Haydari provided all of the offensive firepower that the Rebels required while Sabrina Chirco and her defensive corps kept the 88's at bay to record the shut-out.
In pool play, the Rebels captured first place by besting the Mount Hamilton Avalanche 6-1, the Erin Mills Eagles "B" 2-0, and tying West Rouge 2-2. Goal scorers in pool play were Stefania Morra(2), Deana Everrett(2),Leslie Quigley(2), Chantelle Both, Lauren Maybury, Katy Lynn, and Samantha Cicchini. Emily Pratt registered the shut-out.
In tournament play for 2003, the Rebels are now 3 for 3 having previously won the U16 and U17 OSA Christmas Break Tournaments, as well as this year's Indoor Ontario Cup.
These Rebels carry the colours of the Brams United Girls Soccer Club fom the City of Brampton this year as the defending Ontario Champions: Emily Pratt, Lindsay Malles, Jessa Deboer, Isabelle Ah Chin Kow, Kelsie Fioze, Deana Everrett, Carolina Mejia, Lauren Maybury, Katy Lynn, Nikki Kross, Stefania Morra, Sabrina Chirco, Samantha and Amanda Cicchini, Emma Al Haydari, Chantelle Both, and Leslie Quigley.
The Rebels are well-coached by John Fioze and Phil Oliveira, managed by Gord Kross and trained by Barb Maybury.
The Rebels are sponsored by: the late Gary Martin, Nova Steel, Maximum Reality, Let's Decorate, Moffit CIBC Wood Gundy and Winners.

"Thanks" to the OSA, all of the competing teams and to all the parents and fans for a fantastic experience. Well Done!

2003 Indoor Cup Champions

REBELS START TO 2003 REMAINS GOLDEN
1stPlace
The Rebels started 2003 off by capturing the U17 Christmas Tournament at the OSA Coffee Time Centre. The Oshawa Kicks and Rebels squared off in the U17 Final in a most exciting and entertaining game. Both teams demonstrated the "ball control" style of play paired with great team work that has gained them notoriety in the past. The Kicks opened up the scoring early in the game but the Rebels stormed back with two unanswered goals to achieve their first tournament victory in 2003. Congratulations to both teams on this fine performance!
To get to the Finals the Rebels had to squeeze past the Erin Mills Eagles, one of the Rebels' fiercest competitors. As in past games, this Semi-Final was another "barn burner"! This game brought out the "best" in the Rebels' team-play! A 1-1 score and a tremendous save on a penalty kick propelled the Rebels into a "game deciding" shoot-out. Solid goal tending and timely strikes gave the Rebels a 3-1 score and a spot in the Final.
In Round Robin play the Rebels tuned up their game by beating the Unionville Milliken Strikers 4-0 and 3-0, and besting the Scarborough West Rouge Cougars 6-0 and 8-0 to give them first place in their pool.
Well done, Rebels! Two tournaments and two Champonships!
A big Rebels' "Thank You!" to all of the competing teams, the fans (especially our own), and to the OSA Event Staff for a well run tournament!

REBELS REPEAT AS LEAGUE CUP CHAMPIONS
1stPlace
The Brams United Rebels and the Erin Mills Eagles locked horns for the fourth time in less than four weeks to provide another exciting and entertaining game for all of the soccer fans in attendance at Oakville's Pine Glen Park.
This O.Y.S.L. Cup Final had all the "ear-marks" of the previous three meetings. End to end action, tenacious marking, close scoring opportunities combined with excellent goal keeping at both ends.
At the end of regulation time the score was 0-0 with both teams giving it their all but not breaking. It took until the second minute of double-overtime for the Rebels' Stefania Morra, with an Eagle Defender hanging off her right shoulder, to beat the opposition's Keeper with a low, left-footed shot into the far corner of the net to give the Rebels the title of "League Cup Champs"!

Congratulations to all the girls on a superb effort! It was fantastic to see the"walking wounded" put it together for another game! Well done Rebels!!

Rebels Halted In Their Bid For 4th Ontario Cup Championship
Tropy2nd.gif
The Rebels came so very close in their bid to repeat as Ontario Cup Champions. Facing the Mississauga Erin Mills Eagles in a tight, low scoring game, the Rebels were out-clawed in a 1-0 Ontario Cup Final. The Eagles scored early at the 10 minute mark off a corner-kick to post the only score of the game.
The Rebels best scoring opportunities in the first half were turned aside by a goal post on a penalty kick, two crossbars, and a very agile Eagle Keeper.
The second half saw the Eagles set up in a tight, effective, defensive shell that the Rebels, who were sporting too many injuries, could not penetrate. Extreme Eagle pressure fatigued the Brams squad which led to the grounding of their high-scoring offense during this frame.
"Well done!" to all the Rebels and a special salute to the 'walking wounded' who performed above and beyond their coaches' expectations.

To gain a berth in the Finals, the Rebels bested the Oakville Phoenix 3-0 in the semi-final game at Birchmount Stadium. The Rebels scored twice in the first half and once in the second to seal their victory and gain a chance to win their 4th Ontario Cup.
In Quarter-Final action, the Rebels met a very familiar foe back at Century Gardens in Brampton. Facing a tough, hard tackling team, the Dixie Blue Bombers, the Rebels posted another 3-0 score to move up the Ontario Cup ladder of competition.
In the opening Ontario Cup Tournament, the Rebels travelled to Richmond Hill to take on the Raiders, the Pickering Predators and the Ottawa South United Eagles. Playing with poise and conviction, the Rebels advanced to the Quarter-Finals by completing the tournament with 3 victories: 8-0 against the Eagles, 2-0 against the Raiders and 3-0 against the Predators.
The final 2003 Ontario Cup statistics for the Rebels read: 5 wins with 1 loss, 19 goals for with 1 against, and 5 shut-outs.
Congratulations go out to the Rebels' Isabelle Ah Chin Kow, Emma Al Haydari, Chantelle Both, Sabrina Chirco, Amanda and Samantha Cicchini, Jessa DeBoer, Deana Everrett, Nicole Kross, Katy Lynn, Lindsay Malles, Lauren Maybury, Carolina Mejia, Stefania Morra, Emily Pratt, Leslie Quigley, Coach John Fioze, Trainers Barb Maybury and Ross Charnley, and Manager Gord Kross. A special "Thanks" to Kelsie Fioze and all the parents and fans for their tremendous support!

OntCupMedallion
The Brams United Rebels used long passes from their Keeper and outstanding ball control to post a 2-0 victory over their OISL rivals, the Dixie Blue Bombers in the 2002 Ontario Indoor Cup Final. The Rebels had several scoring chances during the first half of play but timely goal tending by the Dixie Keeper saw the score at level zeros for the first half. The Rebels continued to press during the second half and were rewarded with the game winner when Stefania drove a low shot past the Dixie keeper with 11 minutes to go in the game. Kelsie put the game out of reach as she found the inside of the far post two minutes later. Strong defensive play by the whole Rebel team for the duration of the game allowed Sabrina to post the shut-out.
In Semi-Final action, the Rebels took on a very strong and physical squad from Richmond Hill. The Rebels opened the scoring early in the first half on a great finish by Cara. The Raiders tied it up soon after to make this game a tight checking contest. Emma was the second scorer to register on the Rebels' game sheet. She sent the Rebels into the Final by converting a long pass from Sabrina and driving it home past the Raiders keeper.
The Rebels made it to the final day of Cup play by winning their first two of three Final-Round games. In their first game, the Rebels bested the Mount Hamilton Avalance 3-0 with goals by Cara, Emma and Samantha. Sabrina, aided by her defense, posted the shut-out. Game 3 on Saturday was a bit of a let down for the Rebels. The Scarborough Magic played for pride and beat the Rebels 1-0 in a game that had no effect in the outcome of the tournament. In windy conditions and sunny skies, the Rebels took on a very determined London Meteors team in the final game of the day. REBELS CAPTURE GOLD AT ONTARIO CUP AND SUMMER GAMES
The Brams United Rebels were crowned Ontario Champions at the 2002 Ontario Summer Games in the U15 soccer venue. This accolade also included the mantle of Ontario Cup Champions for 2002 as both titles were combined in the one tournament.
The Rebels took on a very determined Richmond Hill Raiders team for the Gold Medal on the forth day of competition at Bechtel Park in Waterloo in the championship tilt. Stefania took an excellent feed from Carolina at the five minute mark, and tucked home the only goal of the match to give the Rebels the title of "Provincial Champions"! Although the Rebels pressed for the second insurance tally, they were thwarted by a very stingy Raider defense. When the Raiders countered, they were denied by an equally stingy Rebel midfield and defense! The Rebels demonstrated great ball movement, unselfish play, tenacious defending and a lot of "heart" in this match with eight players playing with injuries. When the final whistle blew, both teams were exhausted from their efforts and the heat. "Well Done!" to both teams on a fantastic effort and entertaining game!
The Rebels advanced to the final game by placing first in their pool of play. They opened the tournament by besting the Mount Hamilton Avalanche 4-2 in a game that saw them come from behind 2-1 at the half and score three unanswered goals before final time.
On day two, the Rebels engaged a tough, physical squad from Nepean, the Hotspurs Lightning, and ground out a "come from behind" 3-1 win.
Day three saw the Rebels meet a familiar foe in the presence of the Dixie Blue Bombers. The Rebels came out flying and posted a 5-1 victory, scoring often and early, to send them through to the final.
The Rebels wish to thank all of their competitors for a great showing, the parents and fans for their enthusiastic support, and the OSA and their many volunteers for all of their help! Also included in the kudos are the many people who made the "Summer Games" an event that we will never forget. We shall always treasure the many wonderful memories afforded to us!
We would also like to thank everyone who has signed our Guestbook. Your congratulatory comments are most appreciated by all of us!

REBELS CLINCH OYSL U15 2002 CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
1stPlace
The Brams United Rebels took on the Erin Mills Eagles in a battle for "top spot" honours and came away with a convincing 3-0 victory in their second meeting of the season. Stefania, Leslie and Deana provided the offensive finish on three low shots which eluded the Eagle keeper. Sabrina and her defense posted their 13th shut-out of their regular season. The Rebels controlled this match from start to finish with excellent ball control, movement and tight defense. This was a solid team victory with each player contributing! With one game to go in seasonal play, the Rebels with 46 points (15 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie)have added the title of "League Champions" to go with their previous accolade of "Ontario Cup Champions"!
Congratulations to Isabelle, Emma, Chantelle, Amanda, Samantha, Cara, Sabrina, Jessa, Deana, Kelsie, Nikki, Katy, Lindsay, Lauren, Carolina, Stefania, Leslie, and Coaches John and Phil on this tremendous season!
The Rebels now set their sights on winning the League Cup, which will be held on Sept. 29th, against the Richmond Hill Raiders.
   Gooooo Rebels!!!!

REBELS SUCCEED IN THEIR QUEST BY WINNING THE OYSL CUP
The last game for the 2002 OYSL U15G season was the League Cup Final which pitted the #2 ranked Richmond Hill Raiders against the #1 favourites, the Brams United Rebels. This was a classic rematch of the earlier Ontario Cup Final where the Rebels edged out a 1-0 victory over the Raiders. The Rebels showed why they are ranked #1 as they again defeated the tough Raiders 4-1 to capture the fifth jewel in their 'five star crown'!
The Raiders opened the scoring on a very slick pitch 16 minutes into the match when Raider forward Stephanie G. sped by two fallen Rebel defenders to beat the Rebels' goalie, Sabrina C, with a well placed shot to the far post.
This goal seemed to wake the Rebels up. Stefania took a great feed from Deana E a scant 60 seconds later and blasted home the tying goal. The Rebels continued to press and were awarded a penalty kick when Leslie Q. was brought down in the box. Stefania missed a glorious opportunity to put the Rebels up before the half when her shot went just wide on the penalty kick. The first half ended 1-1 but the Rebels were enjoying the advantage of play with greater scoring opportunities.
A scant 45 seconds into the second half saw Deana pop her first of two goals on a tremendous cross from Stefania to put the Rebels ahead for the duration of this high tempo match. Two crossbars were dented before Deana put the game out of reach with her second goal of the day on a superb effort. Emma Al H rounded out the Rebels scoring by completing another cross from Leslie with 15 minutes left to play.
This game was another 'signature' game for the Rebels as they displayed excellent ball control, unselfish team work, stingy defense and outstanding aggression to win the majority of free balls, another total team effort!
The U15 Rebels have now concluded their year-long season as Champions of: the Ontario Youth Soccer League and League Cup,the Ontario Cup and the Ontario Summer Games, the City of Vaughan Invitational Tournament, The Ontario Indoor League, the Ontario Indoor Cup, the North York Hearts Soccer League and League Cup, 2 Thunderhawks Indoor Cups and a Lynx Cup.
In OYSL play the Rebels boast a final record of 15 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. They found the back of the net 62 times while holding their opposition to just 6 goals. This is the best goals against in the entire OYSL (all Divisions) for 2002!

REBELS GOLDEN AT 2002 CHRISTMAS TOURNEY
1stPlace
The Rebels took home first place honours in the U16G division of the 2002 Hangar Christmas Tournament by defeating the Burlington Xtreme 3-1 in the final game of the day. The Rebels' play showed poise and confidence as they overcame a 1-0 deficit to gain their last championship title for 2002. The Rebels demonstrated good ball control and team work consistantly throughout this tournament.
In semi-final action the Rebels bested their younger sister team, the Brams United Rangers, by a score of 3-0 to gain a berth in the Final.
Round robin action saw the Rebels beat the Newmarket York United Jaguars 3-0, the North York Hearts 5-0, and the Erin Mills Eagles "B" squad 5-0.
Well done, Rebels!! May 2003 be as rewarding to you as 2002!!
Thanks to the OSA for a well-run event and to the Rebels parents for your positive support!

REBELS MEET RAIDERS IN THE U15 TORONTO LYNX CUP FINAL
Tropy2nd.gif
Kudos to this very fine U14G team for capturing Silver at the Toronto Lynx Cup U15 2001 March Break tournament held at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan. This was the third tourament in five days for the Rebels and they proved their worth to every U15 team that they met! Their only loss to a U15 team was in the Final against the Richmond-Hill Raiders in a Shoot-out. The Rebels had several great chances to win in regular play but were turned aside by a very strong Raider Keeper. No score through time and over-time resulted in this match being decided by penalty kicks. Ricmond Hll scored on their last one to give them a 2-1 edge and the title.
The Rebels made it to the Final by besting the Dixie Dominators 1-0 in the semi-final game. Great team-work and aggressive marking by the "wee lasses" from Brampton were the keys to this win.
The Rebels placed second in their pool play with a 1-0 win over the Oshawa Kicks, a 2-2 draw with the Vaughan Azzurri and a 2-nil loss to the U14 Eagles from Erin Mills.
The Rebels would like to thank the Toronto Lynx for sponsoring these tournaments and the O.S.A. for hosting these events!

THE REBELS STOPPED BY MAGIC IN LYNX U14 TOURNEY
Tropy2nd.gif
The Rebels came so close but were denied victory in the final game of the Toronto Lynx Cup by the Scarborough Magic. Regular time and over-time could not decide the winner despite several glorious scoring chances by both teams. This Final went to penalty kicks where the Rebels lost 5-4. Congratulations to both teams for providing such an entertaining Final!

In pool play, the Rebels bested the Glen Shield Sun Devils twice (2-0,3-0)and repeated that feat against the Hamilton Sparta (2-0,2-0).The Semi-Final was a 5-1 victory against the Brams United Spitfires (the Rebel's sister team).

REBELS OUSTED IN TORONTO LYNX CUP U15 TOURNEY
a1ataz.gif
The Rebels managed to handily beat two U15 teams in their pool but were ousted from the tourney on "goal differential" after their only loss of the day to the U14 Scarborough Magic(1-0). The Rebels started out the day in fine form by beating the Dixie Dominators (eventual winners) 2-0.This convincing win was quickly followed up with a 3-1 decision over the West Rouge Cougars. A win or a tie against the Magic would have given the Rebels first place in their pool. The loss resulted in a three way tie for first. Dixie and Scarborough went on while the Rebels went home to regroup and refocus. Click on Taz for pictures taken during the three Lynx Cup Tourneys!

REBEL GUEST COACH - IS A PRO!!
The Rebels were indeed fortunate to have the services of TORONTO THUNDERHAWKS PRO, Will Giummarra, as a Guest Coach at a recent practice! Coach Will put the Rebels through a very enjoyable two hours of drills, skills, and scrimmage. Coach Will taught the girls a trick or two that will surely come in handy in their upcoming games! Thanks, Will for sharing your time with us, giving us great instruction and for demonstrating the skills which make you a great player. You are always welcome to our future practices and games! GO Thunderhawks!! We'll be rooting for you to win it all in 2001!!.......................................
Click on Will to see more Practice Pixs

The Rebels are very proud to announce that Will Giummarra has agreed to continue running the Rebel Indoor Practices for the remainder of the season! Coach Fioze is going "that extra mile" to get his girls the best instruction possible!!! GO WILL!GO REBELS!GO THUNDERHAWKS!!!

REBELS WIN THE THUNDERHAWK U14G 2000-2001 TOURNAMENT

The Rebels played their best soccer of the year during the semi-final and final game of the Thunderhawk Christmas Tourney at the Soccer Centre. The West Rouge Wildcats were blasted 2-0 in a very exciting semi-final. Rebel pressure and crisp passing led to many scoring opportunities while precise defense allowed only a few chances against the Brams squad.
The final was all Rebels! A complete team effort compiled 4 goals for while holding the Dixie Bluebombers off the score sheet.
The Rebels beat Hamilton Sparta 3-1, lost to N. Mississauga 1-0 (a bit of a lapse) and then rebounded to blank Markham 8-0 in the round-robin action.
The girls received tickets to a Thunderhawks professional indoor game as well as individual and team trophies for bringing home the gold in this tournament. A special "Thanks" to the Thunderhawks for sponsoring this tourney!

REBELS PLAY UP !.. And Put a Scare Into The Competition!
vinking.gif
During the Christmas Break the Rebels entered into two U15 tournaments. At the Hangar the Rebels lost very close decisions to the Oakville Cobras 2-1, Scarborough Scorpions 2-1 and the Richmond Hill Raiders 1-0. Each of these games was a close and exciting affair that tested the metal of all the teams. The Rebels got into the 1/4 finals by besting the Dundas Fireballs 5-0. In the 1/4 final the Rebels came up against a very hot Dixie keeper! Although the Rebels outshot the Dominators and controlled the majority of the play, they ended up on the losing end of a 1-0 score.

In their second U15 tournament at the Soccer Center the Rebels did not make it out of the round-robin. The Rebels started out well by besting the Peterborough City Tigers 2-0. Game two was a bruising basher against the larger Richmond Hill Raiders. Although the Rebels played tough, they could not score to answer the Raiders lone tally. The third game saw the Rebels have a complete collapse of their game as they lost to the Niagara Falls Lightning 4-1....... These Rebels definitely earned respect from all of their competitors. Well done girls!

Festitalia-2.jpg
2000 FESTITALIA CHAMPIONS (U13G)
Rebels Win Hamilton Tourney 3 Years In A Row
Congratulations to the Brams United Rebels U13G for capturing the 2000 Hamilton Festitalia Championship for the third consecutive year! The proud Rebels went through the opposition by scoring 12 goals and allowing only 1 against!
Day one of play saw the Rebels defeat the Kitchener Spirit 4-0. Goal scorers for the Rebels were Katy, Nikki M, Yogi and Chaney. Sabrina recorded the shut-out with help from Nikki K, Isabel, Jess and Molly. Great ball control from the midfielders kept Kitchener from mounting any scoring thrusts.
The second day belonged to the Rebels as they defeated Niagara Falls 1-0 (Chaney with the marker and Sabrina with the shut-out) . This score favoured the team from the Falls. The Rebels again showed their prowress for ball-control while limiting the Lightning to a few weak shots.
In semi-final action the Hamilton Avalanche were bested 5-1 in a fairly one-sided match. The Rebels opened the scoring in the first 2 minutes of the second half (Nikki M) and then poured in 4 more before time (Stef with 3 and Chaney with 1). The Falls managed their lone goal on a Keeper miscue with the score at 3-0.
The Championship Game was against another Hamilton squad. The Sparta showed lots of desire but they could not capitalize on their three chances during the game! The Rebels with persistant effort solved the Spartas defensive ploy of packing the 18 yard box. Stefania M showed her creative abilities and found the back of the net twice! Great team play and the patented ball-control of the Rebels was again evident in this win!
Great job Rebels!! Stef, Lauren, Jess, Sara, Nikki K, Nikki M, Yogi, Molly, Chaney, Katy, Izzy, Elisabeth, Sabrina and Kelsie!
Thanks to Coach Oliviera for taking over the coaching duties for this tournament! Coach Fioze was relegated to the bleachers as an observer!
Many thanks to Coach Fioze for all of his wonderful efforts this season!
Thanks to Shelly and Paul for all of their time and efforts! You made a lot of things happen!
Cudos to the parents! You were very supportive!
!

Rebels Bow Out Of The Ontario Cup
The Rebels came up against a strong West Rouge Squad in the Ontario Cup 1/4 Finals. After a scoreless first half the Wildcats found the back of the Rebel net twice. This was a disappointing loss for the gritty Rebels, but we can only tip our hat to the West Rouge team! Well done! Good luck to the remaining teams in their upcoming games!

Rebels Are Robbie Finalists
vinking.gif
.The Rebels had a very strong showing in the U13 Division of the 2000 Robbie Tourney! The first game saw the Rebels defeat the Oakville Shadow 2-0 (goals by Nikki K and Nikki M - Shut-out by Sabrina - including a save on a penalty shot).
Game two was a tough contest that saw the Scarborough Magic tie the grittier Rebels 1-1 (Stefania M). The Magic was very fortunate to get this tie - more scoring chances for the Rebels!

The Rebels needed a 9 goal differential in their third game against the Pickering Power to win their Division and advance to the Semi's - they got ten!(Nikki K-4,Nikki M-3, Stefania M-3, Shut-out- Sabrina). After their tenth goal the Rebels displayed some amazing ball-control with runs of 27 touches! Wow!!

The semi-final 3-1 win was the Rebel's entry to the Final (Stefania-2, Sarah-1). Great ball control was again the Rebel trademark in this win. The Burlington Ice could not mount a sustained attack through the midfield and defense but did press a little near the end of time.

The Rebels came up a little short in their 4-1 loss in the Final. Down 1-0 at the half, Lauren M broke in from right midfield to beat the Eagle Keeper with a low shot. The Eagles handled the increased pressure and responded with 3 goals of their own to secure their win. This was a well played match but the Eagle team-speed was their edge! Congratulations Eagles - we look forward to playing you again!

The Rebels Are Back From Disney - April 24
The tired but tanned Rebels returned from Orlando after a week of soccer and sun (no rain or clouds for 7 days)! The girls had a wonderful experience during their second international expedition. Thanks to all the coaching staff for their hard work in making this an event to remember!

Thursday, April 27
Disney's Spring Holiday Soccer Festival
Our first outdoor tournament of the year proved to be a challenging competition as the Rebels played up against three American U14 teams. All three games were hard-fought and low scoring affairs. Unfortunately, the 1 win/2loss record did not allow the Rebels to progress to the Semi-Finals.

This experience will definitely aid the Rebels in their next "out of country" tourney! A wonderful kick-off for the new season!

REBELS FINISH INDOOR SEASON WITH A WIN- READY TO GO OUTDOORS
The Rebels completed their indoor season with a 2-1 victory over the Erin Mills Eagles. Their indoor record of 8 wins,4 losses and 3 ties (22 goals for /9 against)cemented the Rebels in third place in the O.I.S.L.behind the Eagles and Scarborough Magic. Congratulations to the Magic for capturing first place honours in the league!
The Rebels would like to thank all their supporters and sponsors for their contributions to the team! You make playing the game possible!
The Rebels and their families send their good wishes to Mel and Yogi. Get well soon, girls! We miss you on the field!
"Good Luck Rebels" as you prepare for the outdoor action starting in May! We look forward to an exciting season in the O.Y.S.L!
