REBELS CROWNED CHAMPIONS - at the 2005 Rated Sports Recruit Tounament

1stPlace
Congratulations to the Rebels for their fine Champions Showing at the 2005 Rated Sports Recruit Tournament held in Caledon. The Rebels captured this event by downing the Erin Mills Eagles in a very close Final game. A scoreless game through Time went to Penalties to decide the outcome. The Rebels prevailed with a 4-2 score. Stefania, Stefani,Chantelle and Isabelle scored while Sabrina held the Eagles to 2 goals in this very exciting finish. A tremendous effort by all the Rebels who played with an extremely short bench all week-end!
To get to the Finals the Rebels took first place in their pool with victories over Sarnia 1-0 (Kristine with the lone goal) and over London 5-0 (Stefania with 3 goals, singles by Stefani and Kristina). The Rebels were tied by Burlington in the first game of the tournamnt with a 1-1 score (Katy with a penalty shot). Great Goal Keeping all tournament by Sabrina and Emily.Well played to all!

RESPECTABLE RETURN FROM THE ORANGE CLASSIC

The Rebels returned from the 2004 Orange Classic sporting a record of 2 wins and 1 loss against some fine American teams. The amazing reality about this showing was... it almost didn't happen for the Rebels team. Cancelled flights grounded our girls in Canada one day before the start of the tournament. Successful scrambling and a '10 hour requested delay' for the first scheduled game, allowed the Rebels to compete and not forfeit. The last group of players arrived in Fort Lauderdale Monday evening and went directly to the field 1.5 hours before game-time! After a sloppy start and giving up the first goal, the Rebels bounced back in the second half with goals by Jessa and Katy to defeat the Florida Renegades 2-1. A much better effort in this second half was displayed by all!
Less than 12 hours later the Rebels were back in action, taking on the Florida MEGU. After a scoreless first half, the Rebels faultered and ran out of gas to give up 3 unanswered goals (2 in the last 10 minutes) and lose 3-0. This game was much closer than the score indicated but ... could've, should've, would've won't win games.
Game three on Wednesday was a dandy against the Ohio Galaxies Premier played on the largest pitch(#7) in the Park. After 2 games to remove the "rust", the Rebels used the greater area to move and control the ball effectively derailing the Galaxies. Izzy and Leanne provided all the scoring in the first half that the Rebels would need to seal this victory with a 2-0 margin. Sabrina and Emily provided the shut-out with great defensive help from the whole team.
The many college scouts who were in attendance for these games were duely impressed by the Rebels style of play, team-work and athleticism.
Well done, Rebels!

2004 ONTARIO CUP CHAMPIONS

The Brams United Rebels U17 Girls soccer team garnered another accolade for their very impressive Ontario Cup Team Record by winning their fifth Championship Cup Title in six years. This record includes three consecutive Indoor Cup Titles to go with two out of three Outdoor Titles (with one Finalist) 2001-2004.
In 2004 outdoor action on September 19th, the Rebels pounced on a very tough, physical, determined team from Sudbury and blanked the Canadians 3-0 at the OSA Soccer Centre in Vaughan. This contest, played on a turf field, saw the Rebels display their signature brand of "Ball Control" soccer and tenacious defence that has made them one of the most successful teams in the Province for the past few years.
Stefania Morra with two goals and Stefani Vescio with one provided all the offense that the Rebels required to guarantee the win.
Sabrina Chirco and Emily Pratt shared the goal-tending duties to record the shut-out. Both goalies played extremely well, turning away all offensive chances created by Sudbury. Of course, these goalies were backed by the stingy defence of Nikki Kross, Megan Kunder, Izzy Ah Chin Kow and Carolina Mejia.
The midfield contingent of Katy Lynn, Michelle Korovesi, Chantelle Both, Stef Vescio and Emma Al Haydari backed up the Rebels defense and added to the offensive play.
The strikers Stef Morra, Alison Pozza, Daniella Carnevale and Jessa DeBoer kept pressure on the Canadians defence the entire game.
In Ontario Cup Semi-Final action the Rebels travelled to the Oshawa Civic Stadium to meet the Burlington Thistle on August 29th. After a two hour rain delay, the Rebels came out with all pistons firing and gained entrance to the Final by blanking the Thistle 5-0. Stef Morra(2), Jessa DeBoer, Katy Lynn, and Chantelle Both provided the scoring with Sabrina Chirco and her defensive team registering the shut-out.
The Ontario Cup Quarter-Final game matched the Rebels against the Unionville Strikers. Stef Morra and Daniella Carnevale combined in scoring to give the Rebels a 2-1 edge in this close, tight checking match.
To reach the 1/4 Finals the Rebels had to win their qualifying Ontario Cup Tournament which was held in Hamilton on July 18 at Sackville Park Stadium. The Rebels advanced by besting the Hamilton Sparta 2-0(Lynn,Al Haydari), Newmarket York United 2-1(Morra 2), Bolton Wanderers 6-0(Morra 2,Al Haydari 2,Kunder,Pozza)and the North York Azzurri 5-0(Morra 3,Al Haydari,Pozza). Teamwork and dedication were the driving force behind all of these contests.
Congratulations to all the Rebels, Coach John Fioze, Manager Gord Kross and Trainer Patrice Lynn on their fantastic run and superb team success! What a dynasty!!

REBELS THREE-PEAT AS ONTARIO INDOOR CUP CHAMPIONS 2004

Winning an "Ontario Cup" either indoors or outdoors is an amazing feat! Winning "back-to-back" in either venue is a daunting task. The Brams United Rebels U17 Girls soccer team did one better by capturing their third consecutive Ontario Indoor Cup Championship in the past three years! This is a record that has never been accomplished in girls' soccer in the history of Ontario Indoor Cup action! When you add their Ontario Cup Championship and Finalist standings from the last two years, this amazing team has "medalled" in the last five consecutive Cups!
In the Championship Final, the Rebels bested a very tough Richmond Hill Raiders team by a 2-1 margin to lay claim to this pretigious honour. Strong defensive play, solid team work and patience on offense was the key to this Rebels' victory. Katy Lynn supplied all of the scoring for the Rebels in this 2004 Championship tilt, scoring one goal in the first half and the winner with six minutes to go in the game to seal it for the Brampton squad. One Rebels' penalty kick off of the goal post could have iced this game early but credit the Raiders who tied the game 1-1 with a goal at the twenty minute mark of the first half to make this a close scoring affair.
To get to the Championship Final, the Rebels met and defeated the Burlington Xtreme 2-0 in the Semi-Final with Stefani Vescio counting both tallies for the Rebels. The Xtreme had cruised through their pool-play in an undefeated fashion besting the Erin Mills Eagles, London United and Mount Hamilton Avalanche. The Rebels demonstrated their pattened style of ball control, team work, stingy defense and possession during this first game of the day.
The Rebels, in pool-play, ended up in second place, behind the Raiders, and advanced to the Finals by beating the London Forest United Meteors 1-0 on a goal by Isabelle Ah Chin Kow, and tying both the Mississauga Falcons and Richmond Hill Raiders 0-0.
Final statistics for this Rebels journey to the title were outstanding. In qualifying action, pool play and through the Finals, the Rebels sported a record of 6 wins, no losses and two ties with 7 shut-outs (Keepers Chirco and Pratt combining) while compiling an impressive 14 goals for with only 1 against.
Congratulations to Isabelle Ah Chin Kow, Emma Al-Haydari, Allison Bell-Davies, Chantelle Both, Sabrina Chirco, Nikki Kross, Katy Lynn, Lauren Maybury, Carolina Mejia, Stefania Morra, Emily Pratt, Leslie Quigley, Stefani Vescio, Coach John Fioze, Manager Gord Kross, Trainer Patrice Lynn for a tremendous tournament and, a special "Thanks" to Assistant Coach Cyprian McFarlane! Well done,Rebels!!
A special "Thanks!" to all of the Rebels' Parents for your unwaivering support!
