Braintree Pop Warner: Cheer

Thursday, May 13
Do you have the spirit … we think you do.

Cheerleading, it’s right for you, fresh air, and hard work, making friends, building muscle, jumping high, stunting and all the right dance moves.  Come join the fun under the sun.
Although our season does not officially begin until August 1st, here are some of things that will happen to get us ready for Cheer Season.  Uniform Fitting, Sneaker Fitting and Practice Attire Fitting.  All detailed information will be provided to registered cheerleaders by their assigned Coach via a welcome letter.

Thursday, May 13

FYI – Things to Remember:
  1. Paperwork is due to Pop Warner: All required paperwork is due by  July 1st.   Birth Certificate with the town or city raised seal (original),  Physical/Physician Clearance form (enclosed) dated with the year 2016 by the physician (physicals are usually good for 2 years but the form needs to be dated with a 2016 date), and a copy of the Report Card with 4th term grades.  Please make sure you copy front and back of report card.  We must have the name of the school on the copy.  Signed Sport Parent Code of Conduct.  Signed Fitness & Medical History Form.  According to Pop Warner  which is a National Organization the rules state that  without these forms your child will not be able to practice.
  2. Check out the Braintree Pop Warner web site:
  3. More information on one day cheer camps will be furnished via email.  They are a great time for the girls to learn new cheers, dances, stunts and bond together as a team.  Its fun!!  We strongly encourage you to attend.

Since cheerleading is a team sport we need each girl to be there to have a productive and safe practice.
*There are (8) eight regular season games.  4 away and 4 at home.

An average practice schedule is 6 hrs. per week depending on Team.  An example:  Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 530pm -730pm.  We begin the week of August 1st, 2016 at Morrison Elementary School (Field).  Then in September  we start having games (once indoors locations change - we use the middle school gyms)

Games are usually played on Sundays, the games can last up to 2 hrs. (example schedule only if a game is to start at 11 am  (cheerleaders arrive a minimum of a 1/2 hr. prior to game time for warm up and half time routine review)

So on average it is about 6 hrs. per wk in August and 8 + hrs. per wk during game season

Teams A B & C are competing teams so the above is necessary to get ready for competition.
Teams D & E would practice less during the school season and they get to perform at an exhibition (lots of fun).

Depending on the Coach the days and time will vary but they will provide you with a schedule once the teams of cheerleaders are placed with the Coaching Staff.

Cheer with Braintree Pop Warner
Cheerleading was officially recognized in the 1970's, but has been a part of the Pop Warner program for several decades. The first ever National Cheerleading competition was held in DeKalb County, GA.
Today, 160,000 children are participating in cheerleading and dance around the United States.
Participation in the Pop Warner Spirit Program provides kids an opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised, safety-oriented environment. Pop Warner programs emphasize fun for all and encourage the development of qualities important long after Pop Warner days are gone.
The Spirit Program is growing in numbers each year due to the popularity of the sport. In an effort to keep pace with the many new changes in the cheer & dance industry, there are a few basic rules that are unique to Pop Warner Spirit Squads.
