Braden River Little League: Message from the President
Registration 2012
Braden River Little League P.O. Box 20845 Bradenton FL 34204
December 29, 2011Dear Members of Braden River Little League,
Are we ready to play some baseball! Now that the holidays are just about wrapped up, we wanted to reach out and explain some news around Braden River Little League.
This year, the initial registration fee has increased: T-Ball will be $100 and all other divisions will be $150. Every year we struggle to host an annual fundraiser with limited participation. This year the board has decided to include (3) $10 BRLL Fundraiser Cards with your registration. Some members will keep them for themselves; other looking to recoup $30 from their registration can merely sell them to their friends or family members for $10 each. If you decide to sell your 3 cards your cost per player is reduced to: T-Ball $70 and all other divisions $120. Many have asked us why the increase?
Lights! While many are unaware, Manatee County has been reducing their services in all of the County Parks. The county now charges the league to operate the lights each night. This past fall season we had a light bill of about $9,000 and are anticipating the lights to cost the league around $14,000 for the Spring season. We need your help. Braden River Little League is a volunteer run organization. With the county cut backs the past few years, the league has taken over the responsibility for maintaining the fields. We are responsible for replacing the bases when needed, dragging (conditioning) the fields daily, painting the foul lines, etc. Some of the only services that the county provides the league are mowing the grass, picking up trash, and servicing the sprinklers.
The league has provided Braden River Park numerous improvements the last few years. When our old concession stand burnt down, the LEAGUE raised the funds and rebuilt it. Last year our sunscreens covering the bleachers were old and rotten, the LEAGUE replaced them with aluminum covers in the quad. The past few years we have replaced all of the older equipment with new and updated gear.
Along with the League making capital improvements, nothing can be taken away from the volunteers that make BRLL run. Whether it’s the board, managers, coaches, field maintenance, team parents, umpires and others who dedicate their time and resources to make this the best league in the area, we all should take a few minutes of our time to say "thanks" to them. We are always looking for people to volunteer, experienced or not, training provided. Remember, this is OUR league, get involved!
I hope to see you this Spring!
Sincerely,
Maria Hannaseck
President, Braden River Little League
