Here is some of what you can expect at BPALL:
Team Volunteer Jobs
Coaches - The manager will recommend coaches to the league president, usually from among the parents on the team. All selected coaches must be approved by the board , and will be asked to attend coaching clinics.
Team Parents - Each team selects a team parent to assist the manager by coordinating communication and team activities. The team parent duties consist of organizing banner construction, scheduling snack bar duty, handing out information, collecting money and/or orders, making phone calls, etc.. A lot of work, so there is usually more than one. Training will be provided.
Field Maintenance - Prior to games, the home team must prepare the field by raking, putting out bases and chalking base lines. After games the visiting team must put away the bases, rake and drag the dirt, and locking the gates. The manager and coaches are usually busy with the players before and after the game, so other parents (or older siblings) will need to handle these tasks. In addition, each team must sponsor at least one "work party" on the weekend to perform general maintenance of the facilities.
Scorekeepers - Each team provides a scorekeeper(Minor B and above) and an announcer for each game. Scorekeeping classes will be announced.
Other - Volunteers will be needed to help with games at Opening Day to cook chili, take pictures and many other tasks. Please help in whatever way you can.
Snack Bar:
This is the league's main fundraiser. Each team must supply workers to cook food and sell candy and other snacks in the snack bar under supervision of a Snack Bar Committee Member (also a volunteer like you). Proceeds from the snack bar cover our operating expenses, and help maintain our fields and pay for umpires.
Snack Bar Tickets - Each ticket cost $1, and it can be used for special deals in the snack bar or $1 worth of snacks. Usually the team parent will collect enough money from each player for all or half the games at one time and purchase tickets before each game. For many players, this is the best part of the game!
League Fundraiser:
Each year the Board of Directors decides on one large fundraiser, to keep the league operating and growing. Every family's participation is needed to make this successful, and to keep our league fees down.
Sponsors
The Third largest source of income for the league, sponsors provide the necessary funds to purchase equipment or facilities to subsidize new projects and to provide special items for the players such as jackets or team parties, ets.
Opening Day:
Prior to the first games, this special day is set aside for team pictures, guest speakers, a raffle and some BPALL traditions to kick off the new season:
Pancake Breakfast and Raffle - Each child will be asked to sell 10 pancake breakfast/raffle tickets for $5 each. You will enjoy a great pancake breakfast and be entered to win a raffle!
Banner Contest - Each team creates a banner to identify them at games and events. Every family should contribute to the banner. Only homemade banners are judged for prizes.
Chili Cook Off - Each team enters a large pot of homemade chili, with all the trimmings like cheese, onions and crackers for judging (usually by local fire department). Every family should contribute to the chili ingredients or necessary equipment and accessories .
Other League Events:
Throughout the season, families will be invited to participate in a variety of events, some for fundraising.
Casino Night: A parent's night out and a fundraiser. This is a a chance for parents to have fun with other adults, "gambling" at Vegas type games for prizes and dancing.
Angel Day: More information will be available shortly...
League Logo Clothing:
Jackets, T-Shirts and sweatshirts will be offered for sale to all members of the league. This is not a fundraiser, just a great way to show you support.
Yearbooks:
A league yearbook will be available for sale in May. This is not a fundraiser, it is just a great way for you and your child to remember this time in his/her life.. Samples of previous books will be available, and all parents are encouraged to contribute photos throughout the year.
Closing Ceremonies/Picnic Day:
This is the final bash of the year, where trophies are presented and special accomplishments are recognized. After the league ceremonies, teams gather individually for private celebrations. This is held after the season ends, usually before tounaments.

As such, you should familiarize yourself with league operations and make yourself f available to deliberate and vote on issues as required. A parent orientation meeting will b held prior to the season, usually in January or February. All parents are requested to attend.
Board of Director Elections:
Each year a new Board is selected by the general membership to make decisions on league money expenditures, local rules, special activities, and to organize the league functions.
