BECOMING INVOLVED

HOW TO GET MORE INVOLVED
There a many ways you can go about obtaining more information about bowling to improve your skills. Here are a few.
1. Go to your local bowling center and ask about any bowling clinics or private instruction.
2. Ask advice from more experienced bowlers.
3. Sign up for a bowling class at your local junior college, City recreation department, etc.
4. If you are a young bowler, inquire about your local Junior Bowlers program and junior leagues.
5. Ask about a schedule of beginning dates of leagues at your local bowling center.
6. Go to a bookstore or library for books or videos on bowling.
BECOMING MORE COMPETITIVE
There are several organizations you can join to ensure that you are bowling against some good competition.
1. Join scratch leagues (non-handicap). Most bowling centers have scratch leagues reserved for the more competitive bowlers in the house.
2. Join the ABT (Amateur Bowlers Tour). The ABT has tournaments throughout the year for bowlers who want to compete for different prizes against some of the best bowlers of the region. Ask your local bowling center for information on your nearest chapter.
3. Aim for the PBA (Professional Bowlers Tour). This tour has specific requirements to join. It is however the ultimate in competition. Ask your local bowling center for current requirements and other information.
4. Join the ABC (American Bowlers Congress). Most leagues require membership to the ABC when joining a new league. Membership helps regulate your handicap & enables you to enter tournaments, which typically requires membership.
