Boca Raton Football and Cheerleading Registration

Boca Pop Warner is an all-volunteer youth football and cheerleading organization with very strict requirements from Pop Warner on registration of players. Please register early so that we can properly plan the amount of equipment that needs to be ordered and to coordinate the number of teams in each division. Players are assigned to teams based on the order of registration and we are targeting 22 players per team but are required by Pop Warner to take up to 35 players per team. Ideally, we do not want to have 35 players on a team as it limits playing time and we would rather field two teams in a division. By registering for youth football and cheerleading early it will allow us to plan for the upcoming season and which divisions will need more than one team. It will be very difficult for us to process registrations beyond June 30th as we need to turn in rosters to the treasure coast league so that they can determine schedules for the season.

The Pre-Register 2012 menu item on the left allows you to pre-register for both football and cheerleading for $25 and indicates your intent to participate and holds a spot on the appropriate team. The cost for the season for both football and cheerleading is $195 and will include all equipment and uniforms except for shoes. The remaining $170 will be due when we hand out equipment at the beginning of the season.

What are the Age & Weight Divisions for Youth Football and Cheerleading:

For football players, you will play in an age-weight division with similar players of your age and weight range. Pop Warner is open to players ages 5-16, with your age being determined by your age on 7/31 of that year. Please review the Age-Weight Divisions to determine what level of play you fall into. For 2012 Pop Warner has increased the weight range in the Jr. Midget and Midget division.

For cheerleaders and dancers, ages also range from 5-16. The spirit program is broken into nine age divisions ranging from Tiny-Mite (ages 5-7) up to Bantam (ages 13-16). Cheerleading squads are also broken down into Large (20-35) & Small (19 or fewer) Squads, and three different competition levels (Novice, Intermediate and Advanced).

What are the academic requirements for participation in youth football and cheerleading:

Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS) is the only national youth sports organization in America that requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. We believe that the standards we have set give these children a sense of responsibility and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them develop later on in life.

Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. Those who do not meet this requirement, or home-schooled students can still play if they follow the alternative eligibility process which is monitored by progress reports

Are Tryouts Allowed in Pop Warner:

NO TRYOUTS! – Pop Warner programs are not permitted to hold tryouts or cutting of rosters.

What teams does Boca Pop Warner play:

We are members of the Treasure Coast Football Conference which consists of 18 communities from Deerfield to Vero Beach. We will play in the South Conference against teams from our area. (i.e. Deerfield, Parkland, Delary, West Boynton, Lake Worth, Royal Palm beach) We will have four home games and four away games played on Saturday.

What nights are practice:

Practice will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6-8 pm. This minimizes the number of practice nights that interfere with school work. Excellence in the classroom is expected and emphasized at the local and national level.

Pop Warner Mandatory Play Guidelines:

Pop Warner takes very seriously the manadatory play for every player. If a team has 16-25 players then every player will play a minimum of 10 plays. This is tracked by coaches from both teams and checked at the end of the 3rd quarter by the referees. For additional information please review the mandatory play guidelines.

Is participation in Pop Warner Safe:

Pop Warner has a long history of providing a safe environment for all of our members. Kids compete with kids of similar age and size. Pop Warner is the ONLY youth football program (local, regional and national) that sets and enforces a strict Age & Weight Matrix that reduces the risk and reality of injuries. Did you know that Pop Warner football is safer than soccer? Pop Warner football has 12% fewer injuries per capita among 5-15 year olds than organized soccer in the same age range!.

 Is insurance provided:

Pop Warner requires that every organization carry insurance. Specifically Boca Pop Warner will provide Excess Accident Medical Expense Insurance and Liability insurance for all Players, Coaches and Volunteers. For more information

Pop Warner Age-Weight Requirements Everyone Can Play

With 425,000 young people, ranging from the ages of 5-16, participating in football and cheer, Pop Warner Little Scholars has established comprehensive age and weight limits that maximizes the enjoyment for all. We used the National Center for Health Statistics growth chart to illustrate the options for a player to play in based on age, weight and skill. This allows the league to place a player in the appropriate division where they can positively contribute to the team and enjoy learning and playing the game.
