Cats Lose to Dundas in Bottom of the Ninth

On Sunday June 21/09 Brampton travelled to Dundas for their final regular season game against the Chiefs and came away with a 5 - 4 loss. After taking the first 3 games from the Chiefs the Cats faced a fietsy crew who had beaten the league leading Erindale team a few days earlier. The game seesawed with Dundas holding 4 - 2 lead until Victor Speciale belted a 2 run homer to left field to tie the score. The game stayed that way until the bottom of the ninth when rookie Steve Hough loaded the bases and with two out hit the next Dundas batter to bring in the winning run. The Cats, wanting to give their pitchers some work, since the previous days doubleheader was postponed by the rain, used Mike Burke, Jaineel Purohit and Steve Hough. Burke continued his excellent pitching throwing 3 scoreless innings. Purohit went the next three allowing only two runs and Hough the final three. Brampton travels to Burlington on Wednesday June  24/09 for a rematch with the Brants, game time 7:30pm. The coming weekend sees the Cats attending the Rick Wiseman Tournament in Windsor with a 5:45pm game vs the Essex Combines at Woodslee Park.
