Bonney Lake-Sumner Little League: News

With Baseball season just around the corner, Sumner Parks & Recreation Department has asked BLSLL Board to help them notify our families about the parking at the Robert Miller Gym.  

The yellow gates that are locked and lead to the Daffodil Valley playfield are off limits for parking.  This is an emergancy exit only!  This area must stay clear for emergancy vehciles in case one of your kids have a life threatening injury requiring emergancy care.

Recently Sumner Parks & Rec have had cars and trucks parked 4 deep in this area which is not only an Emergancy exit but also makes it extremely difficult for others to back out of parking stalls without damaging other vehicles. 

The sumner police department have been notified of this problem; if found, tickets will be issued.

Please follow this policy in support of our local Sumner Parks & Rec dept by parking in designated parking stalls only.  You will be asked to move if you are parking in this emergancy exit area.

In addition, Bonney Lake High School Fast pitch will be conducting a youth fast pitch clinic for youth players. The clinic is designed to help develop fundamentals for players at all skill levels. The coaching for the clinic will be done by the BLHS staff and players.  This session will include defense and offense fundamentals, and a modified scrimmage (depending on camp enrollment).  The camp will be held on March 24th from 9AM to 1PM. 

On the same day, March 24, there will be a Coaches Clinic from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.

Its hard to believe that the 2012 Registration Campaign is coming to a close.  As we listen to you, our members, we are learning that our campaign fell short of our goal of reaching every household in our league boundary.  Will you please complete this very short survey?

BLS Merchandise Manager and Rawlings Pro Representative Eric Hoover worked with the sporting goods manufacturer to provide product that will offer our members, "Better than store prices with part of the proceeds being returned to the league to support the scholarship and general fund."  

As part of Little League Internationals directive to allow any child to play baseball or softball regardless of financial condition and ability to pay, BLS provides as much as 10% of annual operating receipts for needs based scholarships.

The fast pitch softball buzz appears to be catching on as the Board of Directors focus on revitalizing the program begins to take hold.  In an effort to fill the gaping hole that has grown within and around our boundaries for fast pitch opportunities, the BOD launched FP2012 which is an effort to build a model fast-pitch program for all of Little League to emulate.  This seasons focus is on developing our teams through the regular season in preparation for the tournament season.  The goal of the division is to create a program that is competative and fun to be part of. "I can see us pioneering fall-ball for our league if the interest and swell of enthusiasm continues." Said John Umar, SB Vice President.  

So far this season BLS has partnered with the BLHS Panthers Fast-Pitch team and Coach Andrew Sage to offer a Coaches Clinic for BLS fast pitch coaches and a second session that will be a Skills based camp for the players.  In addition, the BLS Fast Pitch leadership team is finalizing details of two 5 hour skills camps to be offered in conjunction with the Panthers camp.

 Fast-Pitch and lower division baseball registration has been extended to March 1.  Majors baseball will close on February 11, 2012.  

The Board of Directors of BLS Little League, in a unanimous decision, has decided to add 2 additional tryout times to meet the needs of the league members.  The additional times will be an afternoon session added on the 4th of February, beginning at 2 through 4 PM.  The second session is on the 11th and will be a morning session from 10AM to 12PM.

Majors Tryout Dates:

• February 4, 2012, 10AM to 12PM
• February 4, 2012, 2PM to 4PM
• February 11, 2012, 10AM to 12PM
• February 11, 2012 2PM to 4PM

Please arrive early for check in and warm up!  

The Bonney Lake High School Panthers will host the Panthers Baseball Camp on January 28th, February 4th and February 11th.  The cost of the camp is $20.00 per session or $50.00 for all sessions.  You can download the Registration Form from the Handouts link on the BLSLL website.   Each session will run from 9AM to 11AM for children ages 7-9 and 12-2PM for children ages 10-12.  The Camp will be held at Lakeridge Middle School Gym so be prepared to be indoors!
