SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Soccer requires every conceivable physical skill. Here's a breakdown of a typical game for a teenage player:
* The typical distance ran during a game is 5.5 to 6 miles (2.5 miles for a keeper)- players are constantly walking, jogging, sprinting.
* Periods of rest last about 3 seconds, every 2 minutes.
* Less than 2% of that distance is recorded while in possession of the ball, roughly 200 yards. The majority of time is spent in movement off of the ball.
* There are about 1,000 activity changes during a 90 minute game, which means a change in speed, direction, possession, etc. about every 11 seconds.
* Games are typically played at about 75% of a player's physical limits.

BLIZZARD GO UNDEFEATED IN NSL COMPETITION
The Blizzard Ice rolled over 9 opponents enroute to the Division II championship. They were most impressive in their final match, a well-played game by both teams (Phoneix Elite), but the Blizzard clearly won the conditoning battle and really opened up their lead in the final 15 minutes of the match.
Next up for the 31-0 Blizzard is the Council Bluffs tournament, Take a week off and be ready to hit the practice field on the 17th.
