8 Blazers Sign Early!

new button

The Midwest Blazers had another successful year by having 8 players sign division 1 letters of intent in the early signing period.  The list of schools and conferences is a testament to the exposure the Blazers received this summer and fall and to the talent and work ethic of the players.  Those currently unsigned seniors will undoubtedly receive offers as the late period begins.

Congrats to the class of 2009 Blazers:

  • Brad Schreiber- Purdue (D1 Big-10)
  • Chase Graskewicz- Kansas State (D1 Big-12)
  • Dale Kube- Kansas State (D1 Big-12)
  • Joel Effertz- Arizona (D1 Pac-10)
  • Todd Hegbloom- UW-Milwaukee (D1 Horizon)
  • Paul Rambaud- Villanova (D1 Big East)
  • EJ Sexton- Bradley (D1 Missouri Valley)
  • Taylor Eikenberry- Baylor (D1 Big-12)

More to come.

Our #1 goal as an organization is to help talented players from the Midwest receive college and pro exposure.  This year's team exceeded even our expectations.  All their hard work and sacrifice paid off.

Congratulations guys!

Blazers Complete Another Successful Year

The Midwest Blazers had another great season on the field and off. Over the past 9 years, the Blazers have built a reputation of strong play, character, and the top talent in the Midwest. This year's accomplishments back up that reputation.

Highlights from 2008 include:

  • 8 Blazers from the class of 2009 signed with D1 schools in the early period.

  • Overall record of 33-8 against some of the best teams in the country.

  • Fourth straight runner-up finish at the prestigious Kernels Foundation Tournament in Cedar Rapids, IA. This event draws the top talent from throughout the Midwest.

  • Went all the way through pool play and playoff play at the Kernels without allowing a run.  Our first run allowed was in the 6th inning of the championship game.

  • MVP of the tournament award at the Kernels to Jeff Jackson and Josh Meade.

  • Winner of the Diamond Sports- University of Iowa Fall Tournament.

  • Received an invite to the World Wood Bat National Championship in Jupiter, FL for the 8th straight year. The WWBA event is the top tournament in the nation for HS aged players.

  • Second place pool finish in Jupiter with a 3-1 record.

  • Pool winner at the 150 team WWBA 17U summer championship in Marietta, GA.  Lost in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

  • All of our pitchers on the year touched 86 mph or better.

  • 5 of our pitchers were 88 mph or better on the year.

  • Our best velocity on the year was 93 mph by Joel Effertz.
  •

We look forward to another exciting season next year.  We will again offer a summer team and will be adding a 16U summer program as well.

If you would like to be considered for the Blazers please contact Andy Stack by email at blazerbaseball25@yahoo.com
