Blazers to play in the Summer!

Having the best team in the Midwest in the fall has become a Blazer tradition over the past 8 years.  Sending 50+ players to Division 1 baseball and 15 to professional baseball has earned the Blazers a solid reputation and made them the team to see for college coaches and professional scouts.

The Blazers will attempt to build on that success of fall baseball and take their talents on the road this summer with a full 17U schedule. The summer Blazers will be mostly comprised of players from Wisconsin with a few from other states included.  The Blazers will play one of the most challenging schedules in the country that will bring unmatched exposure to college and professional scouts for its players.

The roster is beginning to come together and we are beginning to receive commitments.  We still have openings for a few select players that want to play with and against the best baseball players in the country.

Interested players should contact Kirk Gardner at kgardner@perfectgame.org to arrange a tryout.

The following players have committed to be Blazers this summer:

Bryce Bellin RHP- Kimberly
Chase Graskewicz C- Hudson
Josh Meade C/Utl- Hayward
Chandler Kassner IF- Ashwaubenon
Aaron Nelson IF- Oregon
Dale Kube RHP- Freedom
Mike Handel IF- Sun Prairie
Andrew Murphy C- Bayport
Joel Effertz RHP/1B- Ladysmith
Logan Peot OF- Bayport
Seth McMullen IF- Wausau West
Ryan Giesen OF/RHP- Hartford Union
Billy Kuchler OF/RHP- Lakeland
Steven Blader RHP- Wautoma
Phil Kilgas Utl- Neenah
Todd Hegbloom RHP- Pulaski
Nick Czaja RHP- Aurora Catholic

The summer Blazers will be coached by Paul Meade.  Paul played minor league baseball in the Indians organization up to AA and is currently an associate scout with Cleveland.

The schedule has been selected to maximize exposure to college and pro scouts. The Blazers will compete against the best players in the nation in some of the best venues in the country.

The tentative schedule is:

13 Blazers Sign Early!
new button
The Midwest Blazers had their most successful season ever in terms of players receiving scholarships in 2007.  The class of 2008 saw all but 2 of the seniors on the roster sign with Division 1 Universities in the early signing period.  The 2 players who didn't sign early will undoubtedly sign later as all have already received offers.

Congrats to the class of 2008 Blazers:

  • Zach Borenstein- Eastern Illinois (D1)
  • Joe DeBernardis - Penn State (D1)
  • Brock Guetzke- Central Michigan (D1)
  • Jake Hermsen- Northern Illinois (D1)
  • Cody Koback- TBA
  • Sam Munson- Florida International (D1)
  • Jordan Sivertsen- Southern Illinois (D1)
  • Phil Schreiber- Iowa (D1)
  • Kyle Stewart- Western Carolina (D1)
  • Kyle Stroup- Northern Illinois (D1)
  • Danny Sullivan- Hill College (Texas) (JC)
  • Chis Wakefield- Northern Illinois (D1)
  • Chett Zeise- Iowa (D1)

 More to come.

Our #1 goal as an organization is to help talented players from the Midwest receive college and pro exposure.  This year's team exceeded even our expectations.  All their hard work and sacrifice paid off.  Congratulations guys!
