Who's Your Daddy? "Gold Glove" and "Top Gun" Awards Go to Fathers of Championship Battery

Due to the reworking of the Eteamz sites, and the intermittent absence over the last 5 weeks of the season of our diligent and thorough scorekeeper, stats have been slow to come over the last part of the season. They are now being finalized and put together, and with the completion of defensive and pitching stats for the 28AA team, we are now able to congratulate two of our award-winners.

The "Top Gun" Award, given to the top pitcher on the entire Club, goes to Joe "Undertaker" Samaco. His season-long clydesdale-like work, and his impressive ability to leave runners standing at third base, helped to propel the 28AA Black Sox to a second consecutive League Championship. Even when the bats didn't back him up very well, he stepped it up to hold our opponents to wood-bat statistics. His ERA of 1.63, which would be impressive in a wood bat league, was the death blow to nearly any team that was forced to face him. His WHIP of 1.08 for the season was fantasy-league caliber. Over the last two games, facing the two top offenses in the league in the Bulls and Nationals, he held them to 3 runs (0 earned) over 18 innings, striking out 22.

The other half of that Championship battery, Kevin "Maximus" Tracy, is awarded the 28AA "Gold Glove". His Fielding Percentage of .955 was highest on the team. But more importantly, he called terrific games behind the plate, gunned down runners (catching stats not complete yet), and had two Web Gems in the outfield at times when hits could have cost the team the game.

Honorable Mention:

At 7-2, with a 1.87 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and a 1.28 K/IP, Mike "The Sauce" Sawyer came in a very close second for the Club "Top Gun" Award. In his first full-season back from college ball, he was the only thing standing between the 18 Wood team and complete disaster on most days.

Congratulations to these and all of our coming award-winners, and we'll try to find a cool way to give them some recognition to take home to the "fam".
