Bison win Royal Showdown!
The M8 crown took a major step in being returned to Buffalo Civic Center when the Bison defeated conference rival Rogers 4-3 before a full house in Buffalo. The Bison who trailed after one period 1-0 finally found the net in second with goals by Matt Leaf and Josh Gaughan. The game was as hard fought as any game this season. After Rogers tied the game early in the third period 2-2 Luke Marty put the Bison ahead again with a goal midway through the final Stanza. However, the Royals responded shortly after and the game was tied till Zachg Blaisdell scored with 5 minutes remaining. The Bison then withstood a couple Royal charges and when the horn sounded stood victorious.
At the time this story was written the Bison had defeated BBL 9-0 and Princeton 5-4 to pull themsleves within one win of the M8 crown and an undefeated M8 season.

The Road was rough in Roseau
The Bison played extremely hard but were unable to muster any offense against the State's #1 Ranked team. It was a pleasure watching Aaron Ness and company skate but the Bison didn't back down and behind the Outstanding play of Goaltender Jon Zitur were able to leave Memorial Rink with respect after a 3-0 defeat. The Bison had visited Roseau a few years earlier and lost 11-1 so this result was much more tolerable.

Bison win Two in the M8
The Bison may have taken a couple steps backward this week as they were unimpressive in beating CI 6-4 and STMA 4-2 @ home. The Mississippi 8 conference title will be on the line Thursday 1-24 and hopefully the Bison will be rested and ready to reclaim the Crown from the Royals.

Luke Marty led the way tallying 4 times and Zach Blaisdell had a first period hat trick for the Bison. Josh Gaughan scored 1 time and contributed 5 helpers as many of the Bison had big point nights. Ryan Otto started in the nets and gained his 1st Varsity Victory for the Bison.

Ok that was fun!
The Bison went to Rochester Friday licking their wounds from a number of tough luck losses and returned late Saturday Night, Champions! The Bison boys overcame every bit of adversity bestowed upon them and when Matt Leaf knocked in the winning goal with 13 seconds left in the 3rd period against hometown Mayo the Bison and their fans were Champions of the Kawanis Tournament for the first time in 8 tries.
After a lackluster 4-1 victory over John Marshall the Bison kicked it in gear with a highly entertaining 2-1 shootout victory over perennial North Dakota powerhouse Fargo South. Pat Schultz and Cole Meyer scored in the shootout and Luke marty assisted by Josh Gaughan scored in regulation sending the Bison onto the championship against Rochester Mayo.
In the championship, the Bison overcame 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-2, and 5-4 defecits and eventually were rewarded with a 6-5 victory. The victory was an inspriing team effort as Buffalo was able to control their emotions in very adverse conditions. The Bison are now 6-4-1 and will play BBL on 1-3 to start off the new year.

Bison come up short on FSN
The Buffalo Bison are quickly becoming the Darlings of FSN Hockey night. The Bison crowd was magical and the arena buzzing in the hope the Bison could cut down the Lumberjacks. The Bison appeared to have the crowds attention as they led 1-0 on a pretty shot by Luke Marty. However, the Lumberjacks capitalized on a couple Bison mistakes and scored two in the second to take a 2-1 lead. The Bison really played quite well in the third and despite of several opportunity's the Bison were unable to capitalize and an empty netter with 37 seconds left pretty much sealed the deal for the Jacks. The Bison made it a one goal game scoring with 3.5 seconds left but it was too little to late in a 3-2 defeat.

Bison Boxed In Rogers
The Bison escaped Rogers spiffy new Arena with a tie Tuesday Night in a game marred by Buffalo Penalties. The Bison collected 37 minutes in penalties, a game ejection and spent much of the night killing off 5 on 3's and Power plays. Pat Schultz finally got the Bison on the Board when his shot from the point found the net early in 3rd period. Matt Leaf tied it on a nifty move as he snipped the Rogers goalie midway through the 3rd.
Then the penalty's came and didn't stop coming until the end of the OT period which found the Game still tied. Buffalo and Rogers will meet later this season in a game that will most likely decide the conference crown.

Buffalo Tricks Magic
The Bison used speed and deception to down Wright County Rival Monticello 7-2 Saturday Night. The Bison shot 51 times and found the twine 7 times as Zach Blaisdell exploded for 3 goals, while Luke Marty and Josh Gaughan each added 2. The prettiest goal of the night came on a pinpoint pass from defensemen Cole Meyer who found Gaughan who had slipped behind the Magic defense. Gaughan spun and caught the pass on his backhand and then proceeded in on the Magic Goalie and after a nice move Gaughan tapped the puck into the net. The goal seemed to deflate the Magic and gave the Bison a demanding 6-2 lead. Goalie Jon Zitur made 17 saves picking up his 3rd win of the season.

Bison down STMA
The Bison used a 2nd period STMA goal to ignite a 5 goal scoring spree in the second period Dec 13th to extinquish any hopes the Knights had of stealing a game from Buffalo. Beau Zumbusch "netted" his 1st goal of the season as the puck slid into the net just before he did...the goal was the first this year where a Bison player used all of his body and not his stick to score!
Mitch Viet, Rob Asleson,Zach Blaisdel, Josh Gaughan, Zumbusch, Luke Marty and Matt Leaf all had tallies for the Bison and Gaughan had his second three assist game of the Week as the Bison improved their record to 2-3 in this young season.

Spuds peel by Bison
The Moorhead Spuds are year in and year out are one of the best teams in the State of Minnesota. This year appears to be no different as they defeated our hometown Bison 6-3 at the Buffalo Civic Center. The Bison got on the board first as a slapshot from senior Defensemen Dean Beaton found the twine midway through the 1st period. The Spuds tied the game on Power Play Goal with only seconds remaining in the 1st. The goal seemed to carry on to the 2nd period as the Spuds scored three goals in a span of 5 minutes to gain control of the game. The sides exchanged goals in 3rd and the Bison fell to just 1-3 this season. Beaton had a pair of goals while Josh Gaughan tallied three assists in the game.
The Bison schedule moves back into conference play this week and the Bison hope to feast on conference foes STMA, Monticello and Rogers.

Busy week for Bison
The Bison will stay at home this week with a couple of key games in both Conference and Section play ahead. Bison scrimmage Tech
Coach MacMillian arranged a scrimmage for the Bison against Section rival St Cloud Tech Friday afternoon at 3:45. The Bison have a long layoff before facing Cambridge Isanti to open their home schedule 12-6-07, so the scrimmage enabled the Bison to shake off some rust and try several combinations as they look to produce more offense over the coming weeks.
