Brock Thompson News
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year, you are aware that Brock Thompson, Coach of the CCSC Blast, UMary Women and CHS Girls soccer has departed for Indiana State University. The following thumbnails are articles about Brock's departure and what the loss means to Bismarck soccer.
2003 Blast training schedule announced!
After meeting with Brock, the training schedule for the 2003 Blast has been developed. Brock is aware that some of the times chosen conflict with various other activities, but a schedule was set and absences will be excused with notification. As the Blast do NOT have an assigned field other than CHS, all practices are currently scheduled for CHS. (Thank heavens some of the girls have their licenses!) Handout section has schedule in WORD or EXCEL formats.

Krispy Kremes a success!
After a great effort by the Blast players, over 500 dozen Krispy Kremes were sold. THe money raised will go a long way in paying for the bus or other Regional expenses. Thanks to the Blast players for making this a "Sweet" success. Also, special thanks go to Jeff Mattern who headed this project, along with Deb Chuppe (delivery) & John Westbee (distribution).

to prepare the Blast for
the Wayzata tournament,
a scrimmage has been scheduled.

regular 4:00 time to warmup.
The scrimmage will be Thursday, June 13,
from 4:30-5:30 at CHS field.

Moorhead schedule arrived 05/15/02 - Check it out so you can finalize travel plans.
Blast have a full schedule!
In trying to accomodate sport camps, south & north side practices, a schedule was developed that has practices in 4 locations (Cottonwood, Sertoma, Hughes & Century). The majority of practices (Tues & Thurs) will be at Century. Players should bring indoor shoes to practice inside if the weather is wet. Optional skills sessions have been scheduled at Sertoma to better allow families of south Bismarck to attend. The Blast 6:30-8:00 time slot at Hughes will be used sparingly, because of the late schedule. The schedule may be adjusted, but something needed to be put down to start the season. All Blast families will be notified of changes.
Handout: Summer 2002 Calendar
Summer 2002 - First 4 Practices planned
Brock is stilling working with CHS girls until State (May 31-June 1), so next week there will be no practices. The schedule for our first 4 practices will be:
>Tue - May 28 - 6:30-8:00 @ Century (Brock training CHS girls up there)
>Sun - Jun 2 - 1:30-3:00 @ Cottonwood (Open field towards back)
>Tue - Jun 4 - 6:30-8:00 @ Hughes
>Thu - Jun 6 - 6:30-8:00 @ Hughes
Future practices will be planned in upcoming meetings.
Angie Shilman is now a MOM !!

Angie sent the following email:
Hey everyone!!! Jacob Dean Shilman was born at 8:16 pm on Friday, May 3rd, 2002. He surprised us all with a BIG weigh in at 6 lbs 13 ozs and 19.5" long!!!
We couldn't have been more pleased. The doctors all say that everything turned out great and that all the tests came out okay. He did give us a scare when he stopped breathing, but came back with a roar after 15 seconds of CPR. His first APGAR score was a 4, but the second rated a 9. If you want to see his picture, go to the website: www.GrowingFamily.com and enter the minimal amount of info that they ask for (that is the easiest way to find him). He is beautiful and mom and dad are loving every bit of him!!! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers throughout the pregnancy.

Optional Tournament Selected
Look Out Eden Prairie - Here we come !!
The CC U13 Blast have selected the Eden Prairie International Tournament (July 12-14) as their optional tournament for the 2002 season. After reviewing the entries that the Blast will play, this may be a true measure of the Blast level of play. The Blast will be facing some several Select & Premeir teams. This will be a great preparation tournament just prior to Capital City Classic and State.
Unfortunately, several Blast families will be unable to participate. Arrangements will be made to carpool players to accomodate families who can't travel to Eden Prairie.

John Westbee Elected to CC Board
Thanks to all the Blast Parents and friends that attended the Capital City Soccer Club Annual General Membership meeting.
Blast Soccer was the best represented team at the meeting. The only way changes will occur is if we take the time to voice our concerns at a meeting. This was done by several members of the Blast family.
John Westbee was elected to serve on the Capital City Soccer Board. We now have a voice and an ear on the Board. Please support John in his efforts and congratulate him on being elected.
2001 Annual General Membership meeint
Please make an extra effort to attend this meeting and help elect John Westbee to a Board position to have your concerns represented on the CC Board.

Kicks is Retired by U12 Blast
After serving so faithfully for 2 years, Kicks the Bear is being retired. A vote reminiscent of the 2000 presidential election was finally decided in favor of BLAST. Kicks will live on in our hearts and will remain our sentimental mascot (along with BOB). See New logo at bottom of page.
