CLUB MEMBERSHIP/ICE: FOR PRIVATE LESSONS AND PRACTICE
  • Club Ice is available for practice and private lessons with a Professional Coach. Private lessons can start at any time and at any level. You can take private lessons while participating in the Learn-to-Skate Program.
  • Club Ice times are available at SUNY Broome Ice Center on Tuesdays, Saturdays & Sundays (at separate times from the Learn-to-Skate Program). See our Blue Club Ice brochure for details.
  • Bridge Program: Designed for skaters in Levels 4-8, small classes on Sunday Club Ice Sessions.
  • Contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club for information on Club Ice, Bridge Program, private lessons and Professional Coaches. Separate fees apply.

General Information

Skates

  • Figure and hockey rink skates are available for the lesson program and Parent Skate at no additional charge as long as supplies last.
  • Students are encouraged to provide their own skates, with strong ankle support and a snug fit. Purchased skates should be sharpened before the first lesson.
  • For information on purchasing new/used skates and sharpening blades, please contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club (see below).

Clothing

  • Should allow for freedom of movement. Layered clothing is best.
  • Helmets/padding are strongly encouraged, especially for 4 and 5 year olds.
  • Gloves/mittens must be worn for hand protection or skating will not be permitted. Gloves can be purchased at the registration table.
  • Wear thin socks for a snug skate fit and better ankle support. Heavy socks can cause rubbing and a loose skate fit around the ankles.

Rules

  • The "practice" half-hour is for practicing skating techniques learned during lessons and for Parent Skate. Horseplay will not be tolerated. Safety is key to continued program success. Offenders will receive ONE warning. Failure to comply can result in removal from the program, without refund.
  • Food, beverage, gum are not permitted on the ice.
  • Pet animals are not permitted at the rink.

Questions

A Binghamton Figure Skating Club staffed information table will be set up during all Learn-to-Skate sessions to assist and answer your questions. You can also contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club (see below), if you have any questions about programs, fees, payments or "GIFT CERTIFICATES".

Sponsorships

A memorial sponsorship program is available for up to 5 children, who, for financial reasons, may not be able to otherwise participate in the Learn-to-Skate Program. Contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club for more information (see below).

Registration Notes

  • Return completed Registration Form, with payment, by mail at least a week prior to the first class day.
  • Walk-in registrations at $90/skater may be accepted on the first day of class if space is available.
  • Since class space is limited, registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
  • CONFIRMATION NOTICES ARE NOT MAILED. Plan to attend on day selected, unless you receive notification otherwise.
  • Classes will only be cancelled if the County declares a State of Emergency or SUNY Broome closes.
  • Your name(s) will automatically be added to the Binghamton Figure Skating Club mailing list for the current skating season.

 Bridge Program 2014-15

The Bridge Program is designed to introduce skaters in levels 4-8 of our Learn-to-Skate Program to
more difficult moves in a very small class setting. The classes will take place on Sundays on the Club
ice at the SUNY Broome Ice Center.  See the table in the registration form for exact dates and times.

The skaters will be taught by a qualified coach and will learn a variety of jumps, gliding movements,
beginning stroking and spins. This program is for the students who have shown interest and have
progressed quickly in the regular Learn-to-Skate classes.

The skaters may participate in the Bridge program at the same time they are doing the Basic Skills
program.  We are hopeful that the students will benefit from this intermediate program, and will
develop an interest in private lessons during the club ice time.

Please download, print out and complete the Bridge Program Registration form from the link below,
and return it at least one week before the first lesson in the series you want to:

Binghamton Figure Skating Club, P.O. Box 126, Endicott, NY  13761-0126
Note: This special program and its fees are separate from the Learn-to-Skate program and its fees.

The first Bridge session starts October 5, 2014 and runs for 6 weeks. The fee for each session is $85.00,
which includes the coaching fee and ½ hour practice time following the lesson.  The skaters must be monitored after the lesson by an adult or the coach (if available).
