Beyond, In Addition to, or Instead of the Learn-to-Skate Program
  • Club Ice is available for:
    • Practice,
    • Private lessons with a Professional Coach.  Private lessons can start at any time and at any level.  You can even take private lessons while participating in the Learn-to-Skate Program.
  • Club Ice times are available at BCC on Tuesdays & Saturdays (at separate times from the Learn-to-Skate Program), and at the Arena on select Thursdays.  See our Blue Club Ice brochure for details.
  • Contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club for information on Club Ice, private lessons and Professional Coaches.

General Information

Skates

  • Figure and hockey rink skates are available for the lesson program and Family Skate at no additional charge as long as supplies last.
  • Students are encouraged to provide their own skates, with strong ankle support and a snug fit.  Purchased skates should be sharpened before the first lesson.
  • For information on purchasing new/used skates and sharpenings, please contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club (see below).

Clothing

  • Should allow for freedom of movement: sweater, sweat pants, sweat shirt, jacket, etc.  Layered clothing is best.
  • Helmets/padding are strongly encouraged, especially for young children.
  • Gloves/mittens must be worn for hand protection or skating will not be permitted.
  • Wear thin socks for a snug skate fit and better ankle support.  Heavy socks can cause rubbing and a loose skate fit around the ankles.

Rules

  • The "practice" half-hour is for practicing skating techniques learned during lessons and for Family Skate.  Horseplay will not be tolerated.  Safety is key to continued program success.  Offenders will receive one warning.  Failure to comply can result in removal from the program, without refund.
  • Food, beverage and gum are not permitted on the ice.
  • Animals are not permitted at the rinks.

Questions

A Binghamton Figure Skating Club staffed information table will be set up during all Learn-to-Skate sessions to assist and answer your questions.  You can also contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club (see below), if you have any questions about programs, fees, payments or "GIFT CERTIFICATES".

Scholar-ships

A memorial sponsorship program is available for up to 5 children, who, for financial reasons, may not be able to otherwise participate in the Learn-to-Skate Program.  Contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club for more information (see below).

Registration Notes

  • Return completed Registration Form, with payment, by mail at least a week prior to the first class day.
  • Since class space is limited, registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
  • CONFIRMATION NOTICES ARE NOT MAILED.  Plan to attend on day selected, unless you receive notification otherwise.
  • Classes will only be cancelled if the County declares a State of Emergency.
  • Your name(s) will automatically be added to the Binghamton Figure Skating Club mailing list for the 2008/2009 skating season.
