We will leave fron Tulane on Sunday after game to go to Dallas for the Regionals.

Alex Byo Chooses The Tulane Green Wave

Congratulations to Alex Byo and his family on his commitment to play for the Green Wave. Alex has accepted a scholarship to be a two way player. Alex joins a long list of Bill Hood players who have played for Coach Rick Jones and the Wave.

Sunday, June 14
Bill Hood/Marucci goes 3-1 in Nicholls State Wood Bat Tournament

Bill Hood/Marucci opened tournament play with a 3-2 win over the Louisiana Lugnuts. Wesley Perkins led the way going 2-3, 2rbi's with a walk off double. Logan Shaver and Ben Zoglio combined on a 3 hiiter with Zoglio picking up the win in relief.

In Game 2, the Southland Hogs edged Bill Hood/Marucci 2-1 in 8 innings. Patrick Donnelly, Alex Byo and Taylor Abdullah led the way offensively with 2 hits a piece. Byo started and went 6 innings giving up 2 hits and striking out 10.

In Game 3, Bill Hood/Marucci defeated Colt 45's 4-3. Patrick Donnelly(3-4) and Alex Edwards(2-2) led the way offensively. Wesley Perkins and Ryan Downing also added a hit with 2 rbi's each. On the mound Ben Carter picked up the win going 4 innings giving up a hit and striking out 8. Cameron Breedens came in and closed the door for his 1st save of the summer.

In Game 4, Bill Hood/Marucci defeated Bullet Baseball 4-1. Patrick Donnelly finished the day 3-4 with 2 doubles, with Alex Edwards, Taylor Abdullah and Ryan Downing chipping in with a hit a piece and an RBI. Andrew Reeves picked up the win going 4 innings giving up 1 hit. Stephen Poche picked up the save going 3 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 5.

Bill Hood/Marucci Opens season with a win

Bill Hood /Marucci opens season with a 7-2 win over the Marucci Black at Port Allen High School. Bill Hood was led at the plate by ss Patrick Donnelly who was 2-3 with a double, 3 RBI's and 2 stolen bases and cf Alex Marse who was 2-2 with a double, 2 rbi's and 2 stolen bases. Four Bill Hood pitchers combined on a 3 hitter with 10 k's leading the way and picking up the win was LHP Stephen Poche who threw 3 no hit innings with 5 strike outs. Bill Hood/Marucci returns to action on Friday night at 8:00 at Nicholls State.

Saturday, June 6
Former Bill Hood Player Named Top College Player In Mississippi

        Belhaven senior pitcher Craig Westcott was named the winner of 2009 Cellular South Ferriss Trophy awarded each year to Mississippi’s top college baseball player as determined by Major League scouts, college coaches and a media representative. Westcott was presented with the award Monday night in ceremony at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Hall Fame.
        Westcott, a native of Chalmette, LA, finished the 2009 season with a record of 11-4 and an ERA of 3.29. Westcott struck out 124 batters, which is a new Belhaven record for most strikeouts in a season. He also has seven complete games, five shutouts, two no hitters and held opposing hitters to a .199 batting average. Westcott has surrendered only 27 walks in 90.1 innings of work this season. Offensively, Westcott led the team with a .343 batting average and 65 RBI’s. Westcott was second on the team in home runs with 11 and paced the Blazers with a .618 slugging percentage.

 Bill Hood Baseball would like to announce a partnership with Marucci Bats. Marucci will be the official bat for the new Bill Hood/Marucci Program.
