Count them for yourself........that's 72 total state championships. If you look real close, you will notice that the Fabulous Campers delivered back to Cumberland, MD. a total of 28 in the 1990's alone! If the Campers were to count their academic achievements, we'd have to start another web page.
So, there you have it. There is much more we could add here with just sports alone, but you get the picture. There are schools that win championships and then there is schools that consistently win state championships. Geno Frazier said it best in a column for the Cumberland Times news; "at Allegany, they don't count state championship game appearances, they count STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS".
That is our battle cry and our flag to rally around and now you know why Allegany is known as....."THE HOME OF CHAMPIONS'.

HERE IT IS IN PLAIN BLACK AND WHITE!
Everyone in the Cumberland area probably knew this anyway, but any how, here it is in plain writing for all to see.
WE ALL KNEW...that both Allegany and Fort Hill's football programs were one of...if not the best in the State of Maryland. Yes Allegany County...THEY ARE, but did you know that both are very high in the National standing of wins and losses as well. The Big Blue Review has done some extensive research on this subject and thanks to a very special web site with many of these statistics listed on it, we have come up with some very interesting numbers for not only the two local football powerhouses, but many of the other local teams in the area that many have thought to be high on the list as well.
At the right, you will see the State of Maryland all time win & loss records of the top Maryland High School football teams. As you see our beloved Cumberland area schools are leading the list of some of the biggest names in Maryland High School football.
Below are the National win and loss records of top programs in America. Although Allegany and Fort Hill are somewhat low on that list, they are still the number 1 & 2 in Maryland. Keep in mind folks, at last count, there are no less than 3,400 high schools in the USA that play high school football. For Allegany and Fort Hill to be in the top 300 is an amazing feat considering the size of the schools. However, remember the old saying; "It is not the size that counts."
So here you go you football crazies...all here for you in Black and White...ENJOY!!!
