Breakers Go 1-1-2 at Polar Bear Tournament

The Lady Breakers played in the U-17AA division at the Polar Bear Tournament.  They played in a competitive bracket consisting of teams from Alaska, Pittsburgh and Mass.

Breakers 0-Pittsburgh 3- The first game was against a very strong Pittsburgh team.  Pittsburgh scored early on and unfortunately the Breakers came up against a very hot Pittsburgh goalie. The girls battled hard in this game and the score did not depict the effort the team gave.

Breakers 4- Charles River 1 - The girls played a great game against Charles River . They played hard every shift being first to the puck, working the boards and driving hard to the net. Goals were scored by Abby, Shannon and Sara. Assists went to Dori, Ally H. Shauna, Marissa and Courtney.

Breakers 1-Alaska 1  -Alaska scored first early on in the first period. The Breakers battled back and Shannon scored in the second period with the assists going to Ally H and Dori. This was a very exciting game, back and forth action though out the entire game.

Breakers 1-Spitfires 5.- Marissa scored the lone goal for the Breakers.

Wednesday, December 29
Breakers 9- Lewiston- 2

The Breakers played Lewiston at the Colisee on 12/19. There was a mix up with game times and the goalie for the Breakers did not make the game. But little did the team know Sophia would pull out some "ninja skills" on defense and help out in a defensemen/goalie position.  The Lady Breakers held Lewiston to 2 goals.

Sunday, November 21
Breakers 3- Assabet 2

The Lady Breakers travelled to Concord today to play Assabet U-19 white, winning 3-2.  The team played  hard and battled up and down the ice the entire game. The Breakers were missing 2 defensemen today, so Samantha, Sarah M and  Megan ( the "Dog Bone Award" winner, who played an end to end, gritty game) helped out with the defense. They all did a great job working with Ally S, battling in the corners and holding the blue line.  The combination of Shannon, Sara and Abby got the first 2 goals which came in the second period. Abby scored a goal from the slot off a pass from Shannon. Sara got the second goal of the period, stuffing a rebound past the Assabet goalie. Biddeford was now winning 2-1, Assabet was then awarded a penalty shot? Tie game 2-2. With 5 minutes left in the game, Lauren scored the winning goal after a flurry of activity in front of the Assabet net, the assists go to Dori and Samantha.  Hannah and Ally H played a great transition game, moving the puck in the center of the ice and getting it deep in the zone.  Goalies Mariah and Courtney each made several big saves today.

Sunday, November 21
Breakers 2-Seacoast 3

The Breakers lost to Seacoast 3-2 in a hard fought game in Biddeford. The first goal was scored by Megan with the assist gong to Shauna. The second goal was scored by Sara with the assist going to Shannon.  Biddeford played a strong game with lots of great passing, digging in the corners and battling on the boards.

Sunday, October 10
Breaker Beat CT Northern Lights 2-1

The Lady Breakers played the CT Northern Lights on their home ice today. It was an evenly matched game (both teams attended the Tier 2 Nationals last year).

Offensively Dineen, Craig, Fortier, Ratsup, Martens, S. Farrell and Grover worked together well in many different combinations. Sophia Goulet, Shauna Williams and Abby Rutt helped with offense today as well as combining with Renk and Stranchen on defense.

The first period was scoreless with end to end action. At the beginning of the second period Shannon Farrell and  Abby Rutt had a 2-1. Farrell's shot rebounded off the CT goalies pad, Abby Rutt was right there with a beautiful redirection goal as she crashed the net (hard)! The Northern Lights tied the game at the beginning of the third period. With 2:08 left in the game, Abby Rutt passed the puck to Sara Grover who deeked the defense and roofed the puck to the opposite corner to win the game.

Courtney Rickett and Mariah Farrell combined for the win. Great job ladies!

Sunday, October 3
Breakers Win Both Games this Weekend and Courtney Rickett gives up only 1 goal all weekend!

Lady Breakers beat Polar Bears 4-0: Rickett posts her second shutout

The Lady breakers travelled to  Cromwell Ct and beat the Polar Bears 4-0. The team had some great puck movement and played with a lot of energy and effort. Defensively Abby Rutt, Ally Strachan and Shauna Williams did a fantastic job with  D-D breakouts and clearing the puck out of the defensive zone. Dori Craig started the scoring in the second period with a strong second effort in front of the net with the assist going to Shannon Farrell and Sarah Marten. Hannah Dineen played an incredible transition game. The second goal came as Dineen stole the puck mid ice and passed up to Ally Hebert who assisted on Samantha Nablo's goal. Shannon Farrell had the third goal with a sniper snapshot to the upper left corner. The game ended with Abby Rutt sending a blazing slapshot past the Polar Bear goalie with the assist going to Farrell. Overall the girls played really well. A great team effort!

Season Opener: Breakers loose 2-5 to Seacoast U-19

Today was the first time the  Lady Breakers have been together as a team (game or practice). In the first 2 periods the team looked as though they were just getting used to playing with each other. By the time the third period rolled around the girls had settled in. Goals were scored by Lauren Ratsup with an assist to Megan Fortier in the first period. Then in the third period Allie Hebert scored with the assist going to Shannon Farrell.  Looks like a lot of potential for this new group of girls.
