BOULDER HIGH TRACK & FIELD


2012 Preseason Track & Field Meeting, Thursday, January 12th.  STUDENTS ONLY!

When: Thursday, 1/12 at 3:30 PM

Where: Reference Room in the Library

If you are currently participating in a winter sport you do not need to attend.


First practice: Monday, February 27th.

Practices will generally run from 3:40 - 5:00 pm everyday, plus Saturday February 25th at 9:00 am to move out equipment and a time trial on Saturday March 3rd at 9:00 am both at BHS Track.

Sprint workouts will be Tuesdays and Thursdays and most field events will be Mondays and Wednesdays with some exceptions.

Things you must do before you can practice:

1. Have an updated physical on file that runs through the season. If you have not had a physical already or it expires during the season, then make an appointment immediately, as doctors are often quite busy around the start of a new season.

2. Complete the athletic packet if this is your first sport, Go to the athletics page of the BHS Web-site: http://schools.bvsd.org/boulderhigh/programs/athletics/, then click on 2011 – 2012 Registration Forms, then either begin to start the on-line process or down load the forms. If you are a multiple sport athlete there is a yellow form (two pages) that must be completed. Athletic registration packet and repeat registration packet will be on the website February 1st. Do not turn in before February 15th.

3. Pay athletic fee of $185.00 (max family limit is $405)

4. Turn in all of the above at sports registration, on February 15, 16, 23 & 24 to Athletic office. Get a receipt and turn it in to Carl on first day of practice.


Parent / Athlete meeting: March 5, 2012 at 6:00 pm in Auditorium then cafeteria.

Parent Volunteers: We really need as many parents as we can get to volunteer to help with the track meets we host; these are the only fundraisers for the team and need their help.

First Meet, Saturday March 10th:  20 teams @ CU Potts Field track hosted by Boulder High School.

NOTE: We have 2 Friday and Wednesday night meets You must have 5-9 official practices with the team prior to your first competition. You must have at least 5 classes (check with Lena, 720-561-5747, if you are close).

Suggestions as you prepare for the season:

1. Make sure you have a good pair of training shoes. If you are going to buy new shoes, you can go to Fleet Feet Sports Boulder and Boulder Running Company, make sure and mention you are on BHS track team what events and they will help you select a pair of shoe for you.

2. Distance runners can join Sarah and Kenyon’s running group after school from 3:15- 4:30 pm

3. Sprinters/Hurdles and field events people can join Carl on Mondays & Wednesdays (Running) and Tuesdays Thursdays (for speed drills, ply’s and lifting) (bad weather in the weight room or inside) 3:40-50 - 5:30 pm on the track or under HEAVEN.

4. What to bring first day; Receipt from Lena, sweats, tops and bottoms, hats, gloves, running shoes, a positive attitude, be ready to work hard and have fun.

5. Track is a NO cut sport, everyone who follows the track guidelines and attends the practices will be able to compete in JV or Varsity.
