Thunder Stop Dakota Rev...
bouncingball.gif
The Thunder opened the season with a decisive 3-0 win over Dakota Rev. Playing in a stiff crosswind, the Thunder kept Dakota Rev bottled up in their end most of the game. Ally Chandler scored twice, with Jenny Kuplic adding a late goal. Christine Washam and Jessica Wagner combined in goal for the shutout. Despite the decisive victory, the Thunder have room for improvement, and will focus in their next game on team shape and spacing.

Ally Chandler was named Player of the Game not just for her two goals, but for her superb movement off the ball to show for teammates and support them defensively. Ally was also vocal in taking charge of the midfield and organizing the team. Great job!

Thunder Rolls Over Eden Prairie...
bouncingball.gif
The Thunder fought a tough Eden Prairie team from start to finish to earn a 3-2 victory in Soccer Blast League Play. After the Thunder went up 2-0, the teams traded goals the rest of the way, with the game in doubt until the end. The Thunder played by far their most physical, aggressive soccer so far, and at 6:30am no less!!

Thunder Tame the Tigers...
bouncingball.gif
The Thunder pounded out a tough 7-3 victory over a physical Bloomington Tigers team to stay in the hunt for second place. The Thunder jumped out early, and answered each time Bloomington threatened to draw close. The experience with physical play will come in handy next week against a U12 Prior Lake team!

New Thunder Feature...Cleats!
ucomics
A new feature of the Thunder website is Cleats, the great comic strip from the man behind Tank McNamara, Bill Hinds. Focusing on the fun, follies and foibles of youth soccer, Cleats pokes fun at players, parents, coaches, and referees in equal measure. Choose "Cleats" from the menu at left to see some of the best of the strips, or the link to UComics to see all the strips. Enjoy!

Thunder Falls to Lakers...

A back and forth game with the U12 Prior Lake Lakers was broken open late in the second half when Prior Lake tallied three unanswered goals. In probably the most physical game yet, the Thunder hung tough right to the end.

Inver Grove Turns Up the Heat on Thunder...

An aggressive Inver Grove team took the game to the Thunder, earning a 5-3 win. Inver Grove went at the Thunder defense hard and fast, earning many breakaways. Despite the physical play, the Thunder never gave up, battling all the way to the end.

Thunder vs Thunder = Tie...
bouncingball.gif
The Burnsville Thunder staged an exciting last-minute comeback to earn a 7-7 tie with the Prior Lake Thunder & Lightning. Scoring two goals in the last four minutes, the Thunder demonstrated that they will never give up. Unfortunately, the tie throws them into a 6:30am match next Saturday against Bloomington!

Thunder and Prior Lake Tie Again...
bouncingball.gif
In a repeat of their indoor joust, the Thunder and Prior Lake battled to another tie. After another slow start giving up a goal in the first five minutes, the Thunder grew stronger as the game went on. It was not until the second half that Holly Gillund found Samantha Sivlay in the box, and Sam cooly knocked the ball past the Prior Lake keeper for the equaliser.

For only the second time this year, there were two Players of the Game. Before the game we talked about leaving it on the field, spending every ounce of energy on the game, holding nothing back. Macey Kent and Maria Tinebra epitomized that level of effort. Playing together on the left side in the second half they absolutely shut Prior Lake down. Nothing came down their side of the field. Both played their hearts out, and got their Player of the Game the old-fashioned way, they earned it!

Thunder Outshine the Starz...
bouncingball.gif
The Thunder opened Indoor League play with a convincing thumping of an outmatched Highland Starz team. The scoreboard read 9-0, but the actual final score was closer to 20-0, as the Thunder rolled! After a tentative start, the defense moved up to get involved in the play, the offense began using the boards to pass and framing the goal, and everyone went for the ball aggressively all over the field. Great game, great start, Thunder!

Bandits Steal One from Thunder...
bouncingball.gif
The U12 A Team, the Bandits, really took it to the U11 Thunder with an 11-1 victory in the second round of league play. Despite the difference in size and experience, the Thunder fought hard from start to end, earning the respect of Bandit players and parents alike. The game provided a valuable glimpse to this year's Thunder of what kind of team they will be at the end of the year!
