Brandon FC Flames 97 Boys: 2006-2007 Tournaments

U9 Disney Champions
BFC Flames U9 boys win 2007 Disney Memorial Day tournament championship!
Our BFC Flames played magnificently this weekend at the 10th annual Disney Memorial Day tournament in Orlando. The boys faced stiff competition from North Miami and another local team, Central Pasco on the way to the championship.
In the team's final competition as a U9 team, the BFC boys really showed determination and a great deal of fight throughout the tournament. In one of most exciting matches of the tourney, BFC defeated North Miami by the score of 5-3. It was a tight match throughout and BFC had a lead of 3-1, before North Miami would tie it 3-3 at the half. Our boys really showed their determination in the 2nd half, shutting out North Miami and scoring 2 goals to pull out the match win to clinch 1st place in the group.
The final match was another spectacular one, this time the opponent was Central Pasco. For the first time in the tourney, BFC found themselves down 0-1 early in the game. They climbed their way back for a 3-1 lead at the half. The 2nd half was a complete back and forth affair. After our boys had gone in front 4-2, Central Pasco fought hard and managed to tie the game at 4-4, with about 6 minutes remaining. Just as it seemed the game was headed to a penalty kick shootout, Matthew found his way free in front of the Central Pasco goal and slid a shot beside the keeper and into the corner of the goal with 2 minutes left in the match.
The BFC boys showed great teamwork and their hard work and determination was spectacular. Congratulations on a tremendous job and for winning the championship, you are a great group of boys, we are so proud of you!

Region C recap.

Quarterfinals -
The BFC U9 Flames' played awesome soccer, advancing to the quarterfinals of Region Cup, before losing out on a one goal margin. What an outstanding accomplishment, finishing 5th overall in the entire Region C.
The Flames played two tough matches on Saturday, losing narrowly to Player's Club, 1-2, and defeating Lakeland Highland's by a one goal margin of 3-2. Due to the early loss, our BFC U9's were eliminated from Region C competition. However, these boy's did an incredible job not only surviving a very difficult opening round, but throughout the entire season.
The boy's will be participating in an end of the season tournament, and details will be forthcoming shortly.

Preliminary Round -
Our U9 Flames were drawn into arguably one of the most difficult groups in the opening round of the 2007 Region C Cup tourney. Along with BFC, the group had Countryside's 'A', East Lake 'A', and New Tampa 'A' teams. Countyside has been playing up in the U10 'B' division this entire season, and East Lake had previously been undefeated this entire past season.
The Flames started out strong against Countryside taking a 1-0 advantage in the opening game. The Lightning then came back and played a tremendous second half, scoring 3 unanswered goals to to defeat our BFC boys, 4-1.
In the afternoon match, the Flames continued their strong play. They took it right to East Lake and scored 3 goals in a 10 minute span in the first half. East Lake tried to come back in the 2nd half, but only managed 1 goal against BFC's stingy defense. The Flames prevailed by a 4-1 score.
The Sunday morning match would decide whether the Flames would advance to the Quarterfinal round. Our boy's continued to play great soccer and defeated New Tampa by the score of 6-0! This win secured BFC's birth into the Quarterfinal's of the 2007 Region C Cup.
This weekend truly was indicative of what a great group of soccer players these boys are. They played complete soccer, great dribbling, passing, finishing, defending and goalkeeping. No matter what the next round has in store for these boys, they have had an incredible season, and we are so proud of each and every one of them.

HALLOWEEN HAVOC CHAMPIONS!

Our BFC Flames' U9 boys had an outstanding showing this weekend at the Braden River Halloween Havoc tournament. Placed in the U9 black division (D1), BFC faced stiff competition from Braden River, Sarasota and Player's Club. In the two matches played on Saturday, the Flames edged out Braden River, 2-1, and outlasted Sarasota, 4-2. On Sunday, the two teams that qualified for the Championship match (BFC and Player's Club) faced each other in two grueling matches. BFC prevailed in the early Sunday morning battle, 5-2. On Sunday afternoon the two teams met again and it was a very hard fought match. The Flames once again came out on top in this one, by the score of 2-1. Four straight victories this weekend, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you boys are deserving of being crowned Champions of this tournament. What an incredible job by our U9 boys, you should be extremely proud of all your efforts
Congratulations on being the U9 Halloween Havoc Champions!

BFC U9 boys have tremendous showing at Palm Harbor Fall Classic Tournament.
Our U9 boys played tremendous soccer over the September 30th - October 1st weekend at the Palm Harbor Nighthawks Fall Classic soccer tournament. They came out of the tourney undefeated, 2 Wins, and 1 Tie, just barely missing a berth in the Final by a single shutout point.
In the first match the BFC U9's fought hard in a 2-2 draw with Oldsmar 'A', they battled hard in defeating East Lake 'B' 10-3, and finished the tourney with a solid 5-0 win against Palm Harbor's 'A' team.
This was a great effort in the first tournament of the season for our Brandon FC U9 boys.
