Our BFC boy's had a tremendous run at the Florida Cup held this past weekend in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The Boys drew twice with Tarpon Spring's U13's, 1-1, defeated Clearwater U13, 5-0, and RSL Florida Dynamo, 7-0. By virtue of drawing in the final against Tarpon Springs (a match that was cut short due to lightning), BFC was handed the championship based on fewest goals allowed in the tournament.
The BFC boy's have now qualified themselves for the Florida Cup State Final Four to be held in March in Seminole, Florida. The winner there will move on to the Regional Finals.

Our U12 BFC Boys in Blue and White had a great showing this past weekend at the Seminole Labor Day Tournament. The Blue's participated in the U13 Premier bracket and the White's had to deal with a very tough U12 bracket.
The BFC Blue's were pitted against league rival CFU in their first match and did very, very well. They defeated CFU, 2-1, and East Orange Soccer, 8-0. They advanced to the Premier level Semi-Final, before losing to the eventual champions, Florida Soccer Alliance, 2-4.
The BFC White's were also pitted in the same group as a strong team, which might become a rival as well, FC America. The first match so our boy's battle back from a 2 goal deficit to tie the match at 3-3, before FC America scored the winner late. The BFC boy's worked hard all weekend and made it to the final on Monday, again vs. FC America. Our boy's battled well and hard throughout the match, however, we came up just a little short, 1-3.

The B.F.C. U11 boys entered the West Pasco Junior Showcase this weekend a little uncertain of what to expect. Not only were the boys playing up an age group, but they were also playing in a format quite new to them. In an effort to start preparing for next year's 11 v 11 CDL grouping, BFC entered the U12 11 v 11 bracket at West Pasco. They were grouped with U12 teams West Pasco Black (USA D3), Nature Coast (USA D2) and HCU (CDL League Champions).
On Saturday the boy's played extremely well through both matches. They defeated Nature Coast, 2-0 in the morning and then West Pasco Black, 7-1 in the afternoon. The boys played 140 minutes of soccer on Saturday in 86 degree temps, in addition to playing on a bigger field with a larger ball.
Since the HCU team had also won both of their matches on Saturday, it meant that the Sunday morning match between BFC and HCU was a true semi-final. It was certainly a tremendous match. Both teams battled throughout the 70 minutes. HCU held a distinct possession advantage throughout the 1st half, however, the BFC boys were not rattled and controlled a good portion of the 2nd half. After several good scoring chances by the boy's in blue, HCU countered on a quick break and narrowly slid one over the line to take a 1-0 lead. The BFC boys continued to battle, but just couldn't gain the equalizing goal. There were heroic plays made by BFC players all over the field; the keeper making outstanding stops, defenders diving to save certain goals, midfielders fighting and battling to maintain possession and forwards working hard to get off the shots.
Several coaches, and even referees, paid tremendous compliments to our U11 boys for all their effort. The most flattering comments made were that our boy's displayed outstanding character and that they were "fun to watch."
