BFC Breakers Complete Great Run, Finish 5th in Region C

Our BFC Breakers U-11 girls had another tremendous weekend of play in the Region C Division 1 Quarterfinals. The girls, who played a great weekend of soccer in the Gramatica 3 v 3 tournament last weekend, played HCU at 8am on Saturday, and were scheduled to play Valrico Soccer Club on Sunday at 12noon.
In the first match, both teams came out to play, and play they did. In the early going the Breakers put together some wonderful combination play and kept the flow in HCU's end for the first 12 minutes.
Hillsborough United then put together several nice passes that were strung together from the midfield to the top of the BFC 18 yard box. The ball found the #5 striker for HCU and she made no mistake in striking the ball to the back of the net.
The play continued to go both ways through the remainder of the first half, with neither team really threatening. In the second half the teams played very evenly, just as they have done in their previous match during the preliminary round of Region C.
Our BFC Breakers were unable to penetrate the tough HCU defense during the final few minutes and Hillsborough held on to the narrow 1-0 victory. The win gave HCU 4 points, and our Breakers had 0 points following the first match. In Saturday's second match, HCU stormed out to a 3-0 halftime lead, and coasted to a 3-1 victory over Valrico Soccer Club. The win by HCU gave them a berth in the Region C Semi-finals, through the 7 points they were awarded with the two victories.
On Sunday, the Brandon FC Breakers were to play Valrico in a scheduled, FYSA Region C match.
Unfortunately, Valrico decided to not show up for the scheduled match, which led to a 3-0 victory for the Breakers. The win solidified a 5th Place finish in Region C for the Breakers girls.
We are very proud of the U-11 BFC girls and for taking on the challenge of playing Division 1 Region Cup. They have withstood the challenge and prevailed to a wonderful outcome. Congratulations on a job well done ladies, the BFC Breakers, 5th Overall in U-11 girls Region C!

Breakers Ranked 24th In the State of Florida
According to the latest rankings provided by, our BFC U-11 girls are ranked 24th in the State of Florida, 140th in Region 3, and 504th in the Nation for U-11 girls. Outstanding job girls...keep up the excellent work and good luck at this weekend's Region C Quarterfinals!

The BFC Breakers Advance to Division 1 Region C Quarterfinal
The Brandon FC U-11 girl's had a tremendous showing this weekend at Ed Radice Park in the Region C competition. The BFC U-11 girl's (Division 2) played up in Division 1 and faced some extremely stiff competition. They were pooled in Group A with the Clearwater Chargers (3rd in Division 1) and the Naples Sharks. Our cross-over game was against Division 1 Champions Hillsborough United.

The first game on Saturday pitted them against the Chargers. The girls came out strong and created numerous scoring chances, they were rewarded 30 seconds before halftime, and BFC led 1-0 at the break. Clearwater came back to equalize in the second half, once again dominated by the BFC girls, however, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The second match on Sunday morning had BFC facing the Division 1 Champs, HCU. In the only prior meeting between the 2 teams, HCU defeated BFC at the Blackwatch Labor Day Classic, 7-0. This day would surrender a different outcome. The BFC girls came on strong and pressured from the onset. Neither team could find the net in a scoreless first half. Ten minutes into the second half, BFC had a tremendous combination play down the right flank, and a great cross, punctuated by a fantastic finish at the back post, BFC led 1-0. HCU came back about 5 minutes later to tie the game, 1-1. With only 2 minutes remaining in the match the BFC girls were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area. The kick was struck very well, if not for a tremendous save by the HCU 'keeper would have found it's way into the back of the net. The match ended with our BFC U-11 girls holding the Division 1 Champions to a 1-1 draw!

In the final match of the weekend all the girl's needed was a draw, or a win to advance to the Region Cup Quarterfinals, and they did just that. They played another marvelous game against a solid Naples team. Naples needed a win to advance, but the BFC girl's did not succumb to the pressure and created some excellent scoring chances themselves. Both Brandon FC and
Naples were deserving of the 0-0 draw that was the end result in this match.

The girl's played their hearts out this weekend, they left it all on the field and deserve a lot of praise. They are the ONLY Division 2 team playing up in Division 1 Region Cup, and now will be among the final 6 teams competing for the Division 1 Region C Championship. CONGRATULATIONS girls on a job well done, we are so very proud of you!

BFC Breakers Conquer 2nd Place in Palm Harbor Tourney
The BFC Breakers '92 girls gave a GREAT showing at the 2003 Palm Harbor Fall Classic. The Breakers played three tremendous preliminary round matches against some very good competition, and advanced to the Championship Final.
BFC's girls played extremely good defensively, surrendering just one goal in the three prelim matches. They also did outstanding job on the offensive end of the field, scoring 11 goals in just 3 matches.
On Sunday evening the Breakers were pitted against the Belleair Blast, a team they had previously beaten on Saturday 2-1. The Blast had revenge on their minds and battled our BFC girls to a scoreless tie through 60 minutes. After playing their fourth match in 2 days, and having suffered 2 injuries, the Breakers were forced into a Sudden Death overtime situation.
Belleair was fortunate in extra-time, scoring a breakaway "Golden" Goal, 3 minutes into the extra session. Both teams deserved to win this Final, and our BFC Girls should be extremely proud of their accomplishment
