BERLIN YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL
This site is dedicated to the youth baseball and softball programs for the Town of Berlin, Connecticut. We are in the process of updating our site with our 2007 Board of Directors and new managers. Please check back often to see our progress.
Game On...
Ok players and their families, GAME ON!! The tryouts are done, the teams have been picked for the major and minor league levels... (Farm Teams should be complete this week) and now the fun begins.
Another GREAT way to help out Berlin Little League...
The Berlin Little League has teamed up with Visit Our Mall.com. They are an on-line shopping center that gives the Berlin Little League a portion of every sale made from our mall. They have many great merchants to choose from. They have all the top merchants from places like Dicks Sporting Goods and The Sports Authority as well as Omaha Steaks and Office Depot. Why not go to the mall and see all the great choices... And remember that a portion of your sale goes directly back to Berlin Little League.

New Pitch Count Rule for 2007 season
Pitch Count Rule:
Bill Petit introduced the new pitch count rule which will go into effect for the 2007 season (Regulation VI Pitching and other Little League rule changes can be accessed by going to www.littleleague.org and referencing Rule Changes). There were concerns raised by the board that this rule change would remove the safeguards currently in place in the Berlin Little League to promote the development of younger pitchers. Manny Germano made a motion to form a committee to look into the impact of the new rule and to present any options to the board that would help to maintain those safeguards. Bill Petit agreed to the following volunteers for the committee: Allen King, Sean Campbell, Jim Norton and Marc Criniti.
Major points to the rule change:
85 pitch maximum for any 11 or 12 year-old pitcher
75 pitch maximum for any 10 year-old or under
61-85 pitches mandates 3 days rest
41-60 pitches mandates 2 days rest
21-40 pitches mandates 1 day rest
1-20 pitches mandates 0 days rest
After each half-inning the scorekeepers from each team will reconcile the pitch count. The home teams book will rule.
Intentional walks defensive team needs to notify umpire of intention to walk batter. Umpire will award batter first base without any additional pitches being thrown.
Did you get the Major League Boys Schedule yet?
In case you lost or did not receive a major league yet for this year, here is the official-unofficial schedule for Spring 2007. "Unofficial" meaning that every game is subject to change but this is the schedule that was handed out to our managers. Always makes sure from your teams that the times are correct.
