Mono Tube
Tuesday, April 1
Monofilament Recycling
The Benton County Bass Anglers of Warsaw Missouri have taken part in the Missouri Stream Team’s Monofilament Recycling Recovery Program. PVC tubes are placed at launch ramps or similar facilities to encourage fishermen to leave their excess/old line in the receptacle rather than in the lake.  The program requires a designated person to be responsible for each recycle container and approval of the organization with authority over the lake or access point.   The club is maintaining one recycling tube at Drake Harbor in Warsaw and four in the Bledsoe Ferry area below Truman Dam. The public is doing a great job by taking advantage of the tubes.  The tubes are emptied on a regular basis and the line is then sent in for recycling.  The recycled line is turned into fish habitat and other fishing related items.  For more information on how your club can help visit http://www.mostreamteam.org/mrrp.asp

Habitat Improvement Project
Brush Pile 02

The Benton County Bass Anglers of Warsaw Missouri gathered February 9 and March 1, 2008 to help improve fish habitat by placing brush piles on Truman Lake.  Club Conservation Director Dave Bolinger organized materials and volunteers to help make this project a success.

Prep work for the events started with Dave Bolinger gathering permission from the US Army Corp of Engineers to cut and remove cedar trees from Corp property.   Dave and fellow club member Chuck Gibson used their chainsaws to cut hundreds of cedar trees during the prior weeks. The trees were very easy to transport thanks to the use a trailer provided by Chuck Gibson and one from Rick Johnson with R&L Siding and Windows.

The trees arrived at the ramp finding several club members waiting to get to work.  Charles Edgar, owner of C&C’s Valley Transmission in Warsaw, offered the club the use of his pontoon.  Keith Livingston of Clinton, who works for EMBARQ, donated drop line used to secure the concrete blocks to the cedar trees.  Concrete block were donated by Mid Mo Blocks in Jefferson City.
