Welcome to the new site of the Bel Air Community Chorus.
The Bel Air Community Chorus had its beginnings several years ago with a membership of just 12 singers. It was originally founded in 2003 by James "Capt'n Jim" McMahan (currently Harford County Councilman, formerly Bel Air Town Commissioner). The 12-member group had one performance with the Bel Air Community Band in December 2003, and then temporarily disbanded. Capt'n Jim found Susan Brand to be our director, and she held her first rehearsal in January 2006. We've been going strong ever since.
BACC has since grown to an active membership of 66. The chorus now operates under the auspices of the Bel Air Recreation Committee and is assisted by funding from the Town of Bel Air, and by grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Harford County Cultural Arts Board.
Under the able directorship of Susan Brand and accompanied by Shisa Suskey, the chorus performs a variety of music including show tunes, popular, and sacred music. We are always looking for new members: sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses are welcome to join us in September 2009 for our Fall Season. Our members ages range from 16-70+. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Main and Broadway in Bel Air.
