Saltcoats Victoria 0 Beith Juniors 3: Match Report by Robbie Sanderson

Mon 13th Aug Saltcoats Vics 0 Beith Juniors 3

Despite plenty of effort Saltcoats proved no match for group leaders Beith in this Ardagh Cup clash with the visitors never really looking in any danger of not collecting full points.
Beith pressed from the outset and won numerous corners but failed to find a finish with Vics keeper McCann contributing with a couple of good stops.

Howarth and McGowan shot over from a good positions and Callaghan skelped the crossbar with a shot as Beith dominated possession with Vics battling to keep the score line blank. Beith had lost the services of midfielder Crozier who went off injured early on and they lost another when Lang was injured in a meaty 50/50 challenge with former Talbot captain Bryan Slavin. Lang's replacement Andy Reid wasted no time putting his side ahead however when he burst clear and calmly drew the keeper and shot home before the interval.

Beith effectively killed the contest soon after the restart when, following a series of corners, a shot from Gary Wilson was only semi-cleared to the feet of John Sheridan who forced the ball home close in.

Vics defence was regularly being caught square and Beith quickly added a third when Gary Wild got clear and squared unselfishly to Andy Reid who shot home from 10 yards.
