Tommy the Pundit - Update 16/01/08

Tommy The Pundit

Here is an update at how the Championship/Promotion spots are looking up and down the leagues.

Premier Division Champions – This has certainly changed a bit as nobody expected the recent collapse of Meadow, although they still sit top of the league with 24 pts from 13 games. Pollok now look to be the favourites sitting in 3rd place with 22 pts from 11 games. Glenafton may also have a say with 17 points from 10 games and Talbot have 14 points from 9 games.

Tommy’s Tip - Pollok

Premier Division Relegation – This weekend’s visitors Kilsyth sit at the bottom of the table with 7 points from 11 games and next up is Shotts with 13 points from 13 games. It certainly isn’t too late for either team but they do look favourites at this stage. Early favourites Bellshill have pulled out a bit and sit with 15 points after 12 games and if their resurgence continues they should be safe.  Arthurlie currently sit in 3rd bottom with 14 from 13 but with the boost of a new management team it is too hard to tell right now where their fortunes will go.

Tommy’s Tips – Kilsyth and Shotts

Premier Division Play Off One of the bottom two could get to the play off stage, others capable of being dragged in considering the previous 2 seasons have shown that 23 pts gets you the bottom 4th spot. Arthurlie need 9 points from 9 games.Cumnock need 7 points from 11 games.Shotts need 10 points from 9 games.Bellshill need 8 points from 10 games.Kilsyth need 16 points from 11 games.Neilston need 6 points from 8 games.

Tommy’s Tip – Bellshill  to be in the bottom 3

1st Division Champions – Looks to be between Vale of Clyde and Kirkintilloch Rob Roy who sit at the top of the table by 2 points and have a game in hand.

Tommy’s Tip – Rob Roy

1st Division 2nd Place – 2nd place I would give to Vale of Clyde, with the dark horses being Kilbirnie, Kilwinning, Clydebank and Largs.

Tommy’s Tip – Vale of Clyde

1st Division Play Off – Looking at the dark horses from the above and East Kilbride.

Tommy’s Tip - Kilbirnie

1st Division Relegation – Burgh look to be dead and gone with only 3 points after 10 games. Next up looking likely is Troon in 2nd bottom place with 8 points after 12 games. 3rd bottom currently is Maryhill with 10 points after 10 and look the most likely of the bottom 3 to escape at this stage. 4th bottom and not looking as strong at present as Maryhill is Renfrew and they seem to have dropped again after their recent resurgence. With the 28/30 point total in mind, Annbank and Lesmahagow may get dragged into the dogfight if they don’t watch out.

Tommy’s tips –Burgh, Troon, Renfrew and Annbank

Ayrshire District League – This looks like a battle between Whitletts (26 from 12 -who came so close last year),Girvan (24 from 10),Craigmark (25 from 10) ,Hurlford (17 from 9) and Dalry (20 from 10).

Tommy’s Tip for 1st place – Girvan, 2nd place - Craigmark

Central District League Div 1 –Lanark top the division with 25 points from 11 games. Port Glasgow have 23 points from 11 and Cumbernauld have 23 points from 12.  The dark horses would be Ashfield look to be the only other real challengers right now with 21 points after 12 games.

Tommy’s Tip for 1st place – Lanark, 2nd place – Port Glasgow

Central District League Div 2 – Vale of Leven top the division with 19 points from 10 games closely followed by Forth with 18 points from 11, Carluke with 17 from 9 and Cambuslang with 17 from 11.

Tommy’s Tip for 1st place – Vale of Leven, 2nd place – Carluke.
