Review of the year...
After a stellar 2007/8 it was virtually impossible to think of the next year going further but I'm pretty sure we came pretty darned close and in terms of the achievements did the impossible and actually went further than before. Apologies if I can't mention every player or contribution, although I think I see the bigger picture more than anyone else I'd still say there's specific things I don't see, it's just my opinion folks, if you don't agree, you are very welcome to your opinion also.
The U10 had a great first year together of league football. They built an impressive squad and won both the League title and Cup in their first full season together.. They were a joy to watch and deserved to win the accolades they did. Captain Megan Burnapp was a rock and Tegan Carrolls large return meant that that Katie Upton's team were double winners in their first season. Ashleigh Jennings, Chloe Meech, Alex Shore and Sophie Keech were all outstanding as the girls played some wonderful football, they will be looking to repeat this next season.
The U11 were outstanding, also adding the League and Cup, in this case for a second season in a row. The outstanding Beth Cooke continues to read every game in front of her and with the stellar midfield of Charlie King, Chelsea Hunter and Cyeanne Eaton Bedford provided Morgan Patterson with bags of chances. The likes of Maddy Clarke and Beth Dix also made big impacts as the U11 cantered to a second title.
The U12 also did the double and in their first season of 11-a-side, with Kiah Powell's goals Amelia William's defending and Molly Harrison's passing massive features. They beat Peterborough United 3-1 in the Cup final to complete a double. Meanwhile the U13 matched the U12 and added the NFA Cup to their honours, as Brenna Ryan banged in nearly 100 goals in one season. The ever improving Kara Chamber and the flawless Abi Lloyd both made big impressions.
The U14 and U16 just missed out on honours although the U16 were League runners up. Annabelle Keech and Shelbee Clarke both shone for the U14 alongside keeper Nina Regolo and the flexible Charlie Lancaster, whilst Vicky Boyde continues to look like a Ladies first team player of the future.
The Ladies Reserves and first team matched last year's placings with the first team actually getting one more point in their third place. The first team were one of the best sides in the league and on their day WERE the best. Tasha Fensome was simply breathtaking and when Captain Vicky Mawdsley and Zara Carroll fired, they were unplayable at times. Louise Carroll was pleased with her young squad who were top half and with new young players in next year, who knows they might challenge the top of the County League. The outstanding George Rawle has been recieving a very positive report from the Reserves this season.
