2009/10 season update

The new season is already starting with the Ladies having played two friendlies and started their league campaign. At first in disappointing fashion, the first team were left stranded without a host of top names due to the insanely, and unecessary early start to the season, it's ridiculous that our whole season may be derailed because we can't put out a side that's anything like our best until September, we'll just have to do our best. Another great run in the FA Cup was also a bonus and in all competitions they have lost 3 in 11, still they'll have to go on a stunning run to challenge at the right end, they CAN do it, but they will have to more consistent. Tasha Fensome has moved into management at the ripe old age of 17 and running our new U10, who are sitting 2nd so far Tash is being assisted by the much older Becca Fhalora, who at 18 is knocking on a bit now. Katie Upton is going it alone to run the U11 in their second year, after guiding them to a league and cup double first time around. They have a 100% record in the league to this point.Zara Carroll is taking the prolific U12 to play 9-a-side in the Mid-shires league (unbeaten and top) and Club Captain Vicky Mawdsley is taking on the U13 as they aim for their 5th successive league and cup double. (also unbeaten also top) Charlie Standish (blimey a male coach!) is taking the U14 to the Home Counties League as they look to challenge themselves (second and turning a lot of heads) The U16 have won every league game to this point and have been a real joy to take. The reserves are ticking over in the county league but could use more players coming in and match Lou Carroll's commitment.  Lot's of exciting challenges. New players in, some old players back, and some players moving on. It should be a big challenge and unlike other female clubs, we'll keep putting our kids into the senior set up, and investing in the youth. With the bar being set by David Baker's Luton Town Ladies who are now at national level, we have to look to follow. Sure, it's not around the corner and Luton have found it incredibly tough (because it is) , but nevertheless we must have that intention, if for no other reason than to finally disperse the vultures that swoop around us, looking to take our players and then comically take credit for their abilities. We are the only female club in the North of the County to have consistently produced and developed young talent over the last decade and more, a shame we are not supported in this by anyone but ourselves, but we can't concern ourselves in that. We must simply keep doing what we do, and let our results and levels of performance speak for themselves. Bedford is a family, not a collection of individuals looking to advance themselves. If we are United in this vision, our unparalleled success will continue.
