Big Hawk Little Hawk Results 2008

Thank to all those that participated in the 2nd Annual Big Hawk Little Hawk tournament! The skill level of this year's participants improved dramatically over the 1st year. The evening started with a clinic from 6 to 7 pm in which players were given a brief overview of how to play doubles volleyball. The remaining part of the evening (7 to 9:30 pm) the players were broken off into pools and then were repooled into Gold and Silver brackets. The complete results to the tournament are in the handout below.

Thanks again for participating!

FYI - We are looking to have the tournament around the same time of the year in 2009. Send an e-mail to bvolleyball@bethlehemcatholichs.org if you have any 6th through 8th graders that would like to be added to the contact list for next year.

From Coach Jill Lichty - Nazareth HS boys and girls volleyball--
Andrew Milheim was a junior on the Nazareth Blue Eagles Volleyball Team. Andrew passed away on Wednesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital after an eight month fight with terminal cancer. Andrew fought a hard fight to an incurable disease that in the end was too much to overcome. Andrew was not the player you will remember for an amazing kill or block but an athlete that loved the game more than anyone. He was one of the first athletes to go through this young program and helped to found the program. Andrew will be missed tremendously by the Nazareth Community and High School and by the entire volleyball community. I would encourage anyone from the volleyball community to pay their respects at the to be announced services, the family would appreciate any and all support by the volleyball community and beyond! Services to be announced shortly.

Listed below are the stories that have been displayed on the eteamz.com/becavb site since it began back in 2005. The stories are listed with the most recent listed first and the oldest listed last.

You will find stories from the 2005 season when the team was led by captains David John and Andrew Majewski (current assistant coach) to a near playoff berth, the 2006 season when lone senior Trevor Montgomery helped lead the team to its first ever postseason appearance, and the 2007 season when the 7 seniors won the program its first ever championship that will be remembered by a championship banner in the BECAHI gymnasium.

The stories are great for both alumni and returning players as alumni can remember the journey, while returning players can learn from the past.
