Observation
The best teams have the ability to respond to situations and take advantage of what their opponent is doing. The Bears style does not allow for much individual creativity within the confines of a well-prescribed system. Little Ball control, bad passing, 1v1, 2v1 and 3v2 situations are terrible. What’s going on, You guys are much better than this, Let’s get it together.
Playing Lacrosse should be fun, exciting and challenging. Players should have already learned the importance of teamwork and taking responsibility for their actions. As a trade off allow them the freedom to freelance and make decisions on their own. During the course of the season, NOW would be a good time for an adjustment to goals and objectives set for the year. Something previously set is not working, moral seems low. However, it’s never too late to make the BEAR’S ultimate goal "To inflict BOYERTOWN’S will upon the opponent." force them to play you. Win or lose this is the way I believe lacrosse is meant to be played.
Stop playing 6v6 offense. If you want to score goals, you have to get the defense in 1v1, 2v1 or 3v2 situations. The run and gun offense relies on creating opportunities on defense and getting the transition game going. In settled situations, dodge and dump. Not being done. Middies and attack-men are expected to initiate plays that will get the defense to react and then take advantage of the numbers away from the ball. The only needed offensive rule - create space for the ball carrier, go to the goal and move off ball. But only If you like to score goals and win.
