This past weekend the boys made their 4th appearance in the Region 1 Championships.
The weekend started off well as the boys were able to forge a tie with the team from Maine, ranked #5 in Region 1. With goals coming from Joe Paladino (assist Dylan Bogdan) and John Crawshaw (Joe Pacella), we help a 2-1 lead with about 10 minutes to go as the Maine team came at us with all that they had. Unfortunately for the boys, Maine was able to get one into the net for the tying goal. Game 2 brought on the team from New York West, BC Fusion, and ranked #13 in Region 1. This was a game thoroughly dominated by the Beadling boys on both sides of the ball as we came away with a 2-1 victory. The Fusion’s lone goal came on a PK. Both of the Beadling goals were netted by Joe Pacella (Colin Seigfreid). With a 1-0-1 record going into the final game, the boys needed a win and they needed to score numerous goals as the tie breaking system was against them. But game #3 against Vermont proved to be very tough as the Vermont team tried to finish play in the tournament with a strong effort. Playing this game with a man down for roughly 70 minutes did not help matters. But to the boys credit and their hard work, they were able to score a 2-1 victory with goals coming from Jake Gamble (Siegfreid) and Dylan Bogdan (PK). But much to their disappointment it was not enough to get them through to the semi-finals.
Overall, this was one of the best seasons this team has had. Record is not always the key factor in establishing yourself as an individual or a team. We played in the very tough Director’s League for the second time, we played well in 2 College Showcase tournaments, we won the PA West State Cup for the 4th time, finished the Regional tournament undefeated, tied for first place in our bracket. There are plenty of positives to build on for the next season. We would like to wish our gradating seniors lots of luck in college next year. (JOHN CRAWSHAW-CARNEGIE MELLON, FRANK LAMANNA-ROBERT MORRIS, NICO MAROCCO-SETON HILL, LUDDY HANCZAR-TORONTO UNIVERSITY, JAKE GAMBLE-PENN STATE BEHRAND). Good luck to all others in their upcoming high school seasons. We would like to thank Rick Paglia, Team Manager Extraordinaire. He has continually done a great job with his organizational skills. Lastly we would like to thank Coach Evans and Justin Evans for their unconditional dedication to these young men. Coach Evans has seen them grow as players and as individuals. Without the guidance and structure he has brought, our boys may not be where they are as people today. Next year we hope to take that next step for him…….. See everyone in the fall

CONGRATULATIONS to our boys for winning the PA WEST STATE CUP CHAMPIONSHIP for the 4TH time in the past 6 years. Even though the team was able to post shutouts in both games, these were 2 very tough, competitive games. Congratulations should go out to the teams from ARSENAL and STARS UNITED.In the semi-final game on Saturday, we were able to score early in the game as Joe Pacella knocked in a header on a great ball from Dylan Bogdan. But as Arsenal mounted some offense, Chris Zier and the rest of the back line were able to keep the 1-0 lead going into the 2nd half. In the second half, the midfield tightened up and prevented Arsenal from getting in too deep. This defense kept them from getting many shots on frame. We were able to put this game away as Colin Seigfreid buried one on a cross from Ethan Shula. It was a great fake on the ball by Jake Gamble that enabled Colin to take a clean shot to the back of the net. In the finals on Sunday, Stars United came out to win this game. With Stars getting some shots early and playing good defense they were able to keep this game at 0-0 going into the second half. In the second half, our boys were able to get more offensive and I think the Stars team was getting a little tired. After getting the first goal with about 15 to go on a direct kick from Dylan Bogdan, we were able to net 2 quick ones by Gamble and Pacella. Gamble picked up the assist on Pacella’s goal and Sam Sestito picked up the assist on the Gamble goal……….. Winning the State Cup is a great accomplishment, winning it 4 times in 6 years is even greater. But these boys have a much higher goal in mind. This team would like to make a nice showing at the Regional tournament, we would like to come out of it with a winning record, we would like to qualify for the semi-final and finals of this Region 1 tournament, we would like to with the tournament and qualify for the National tournament in Massachusetts. These are lofty goals for a team that is 2-7 in past Region 1 tournament games. But these are very much attainable for a team that has played even soccer with some of the best ranked teams in Region 1 and the Nation. Will we need to get better, yes!!! Can we get better, of course!!! Will it be tough, darn right it will!!! This team will need to stay focused as a team, get better as a team and work hard as a team. This will happen as the coach prepares ALL 19 players for this next level of competition in Region 1……. The team would like to CONGRATULATE the 8 other Beadling teams, along with all the other PA West State Cup winners, that will be traveling to Huntington, WV for the Region 1 Tournament
04/20/09
On Sunday, the boys travel to the soccer complex at Washington & Jefferson College for a one day tournament. It was good tournament for the team as we came away with a 2-0-2 record, getting wins against Point Park Univ. (1-0) and California Univ. (2-0) and recording draws against PSU-Altoona and W&J (0-0). Stellar defense and very solid goaltending from both keepers, Jason Barbarino and Chris Zier, kept all 4 schools off of the board. Goals for us were recorded by Colin Seigfreid(2) and Jake Gamble. The team would like to thank the representatives from W&J for having us play in their tournament and for all players from all of the teams for treating our boys fair on the pitch. Next weekend the team will travel to Cincinnati to play in the adidas Blue Chip College Showcase event. Please check the "scores" section of this website for updates. An added note, the team will be traveling to this event without Colin Seigfreid who will be playing in an international tournament with the Region 1 team in Gradisca, Italy.

This past weekend the boys travel to the Kirkwood Soccer Complex in New Castle, DE to play the final 2 games of their Premiere League schedule. Game 1 had our boys playing Empire SA from Rochester, NY. With the game being played in a constant rain, the play was spotty at best. Each team was able to capitalize on the other’s mistakes to score goals. Frankie Lamanna was able to net two goals in the first half as the score after 45 minutes was 3-2 in favor of the team from Rochester. Play was a little better for each team in the second half as the rain slowed to a drizzle, but unfortunately, each scored a goal and the game ended in a 4-3 loss. Our only goal in the second half came on a PK by John Crawshaw with 8 minutes to go in the game. This game showed that you cannot take any game for granted. We have been on the other end of games like this. Bad weather can be a equalizer when it comes to talent. You may think you are the better team but the weather can change the game very quickly, then all of a sudden you are the one fighting back to tie the game….. let’s hope this is a lesson learned. Game 2 on Saturday had us up against the Lower Merion, #4 in Region 1, #18 in the US. By this time the skies had cleared and play was much better for both teams. Play was pretty even for most of the game but Lower Merion was able to sneak one in on a play from the corner as they came in on goal with two players against one defender. Even though we had some shots against them, their keeper kept us off of the board for the entire game. This was a very good team from Lower Merion, PA and they played a very good Beadling team. Once again we were able to rise to the challenge in a game such as this. But as we all know, you have to be prepared as an individual every time you step onto the pitch. If YOU are not prepared, not ready, your TEAM will suffer….. lesson learned. This coming weekend we will be playing a tournament at W&J College, Game times will be posted soon.

Week 3 of Premiere League had us traveling to Yardley, PA where we would take on the #6 team in the US, YMS EXPLOSION and the #30 team in Region 1, the NEW JERSEY KNIGHTS. In our Saturday game against YMS, the phyical nature of the game limited each team to fewscoring chances in the first half as the half ended 0-0. But in the second half we were able to get on past the YMS goalie when Sam Sestito came down the right side with ball and laid it off to Ethan Shula. Ethan was able to take the ball to the end line and get a cross over to the poacher, Jake Gamble. Jake was able to tickle the twine for a 1-0 lead 5 minutes into the second half. Even though we were holding the lead, we were able to keep the pressure on, but YMS showed why they are one of the best teams. A turnover in the midfield and a great pass resulted in them tying the scores at 1 with about 15 minutes left. But YMS kept the offense coming and forced Chris Zier to make numerous big saves as the game ended in a draw. Sunday morning brought us back to face NJ at 9am. With the game played in a steady mist, ball control would be essential. We opened up the scoring at about the 35 minute mark as Dylan Bogdan picked one the NJ forwards and sent a ball over the top to Colin Seigfreid on the run. Sliding after the ball, Colin was able to beat the keeper and poke the ball under him for a 1-0 lead. Each team had great chances in the half as NJ rang one off of the post and Drew Sikora could not get one past a diving NJ defender. In the second half, Joe Pacella got one into the back of the net from a nice chip by Dylan Bogdan at about the 15 minute mark of the second half. NJ got one back as there was a foul in the box resulting in a PK goal. But strong defense and goalie play from Jason Barbarino preserved the win. With a win and a tie this weekend, it was very productive for the boys. The goalie play was great. The defense, led by Chris Paglia, John Crawshaw and Dylan Bogdan, once again played stellar. Knowing that you have left everything out on the field makes you feel good about this game. Knowing that we can play with some of the best teams in the US makes you feel good about this game. Knowing that we can make this system work and get together as a team, knowing that we are getting on track for the State Cup, know that WE CAN DO THIS, makes you feel good about this game.......
Our next games will be Premiere League games in Kirkwood DE on April 11th against Lower Merion and Empire SA Rochester.

In the second weeknd of Premier League play, SAC United traveld to Beaver HS to play our boys. In a game that was evenly played, with just a few scoring chances from each squad, SAC United prevailed in a 1-0 contest. Even though we were not able to generate much offense, we were getting the ball deep into the offensive end. But we were not able to connect on the scoreboard. Playing great on occasion, out of sync at times. This has been the tale early on this year. We will need much better play this coming weekend as we travel Yardley, PA to play YMS (#2 in Region 1 and #6 in the US) and Jersey Knights (#33 in Region 1)
We would like to wish Joe Paladino a speedy recovery from a head injury suffered on Saturday during the game. GOOD LUCK JOE, hope to see you back on the pitch soon!!!!!

If it is March, the Spring Season has arrived. With the strong finish last year, the boys have been invited to participate in the Region 1 Premiere League this spring. This will be the second time that we have played in this league. The Premiere League will offer the toughest competition we can find and will help this team get ready to defend the PA West State Cup and hopefully propel us into the Regional tournament once again.
With playing opening up this past Saturday in Washington, DC, the boys seemed ready to get out on the pitch with another team. But starting out flat against a team ranked #9 in Region 1 was not the way to begin this season. Freestate Elite was ready for this game and they proved it by scoring once in the first minute and then a second goal near the 7 minute mark. They notched a 3rd goal before the half to put us in a huge whole. But fight back we did as we converted our lone goal on a corner kick from Dylan Bogdan. The boys played much better in the second half as the game ended in a 3-1 loss. In addition to being ranked #9 in region 1, Freestate Elite is ranked #34 in the US. Sunday morning the boys awoke to take the field against Pachuca FC, ranked #2 in Region 1 and #6 in the US. The boys seemed much more into the game against a bigger and stronger Pachuca team. This game had a much better flow for us as each team had some great scoring chances. Expectedly, Pachuca had a few more chances than we did but our defense and goalkeeper Chris Zier came up strong to keep this game as a final 0-0 draw. Getting 1 point on the opening weekend was not what we had hoped but as stated, we will be playing the best teams in Region 1 this spring. We will be a much better and much stronger team in May when State Cup playoffs begin. We may take a few lumps before then, but we will work harder to eliminate mistakes… That which does not defeat us will make us stronger.
The boy’s next game will be at Beaver HS on March 21st at 4:00pm against SAC United, ranked #22 in Region 1.

It was great to see the boys back in action this past weekend, as we traveled to the CASL College Showcase Tournament in Raleigh, NC. With well over a 100 coaches in attendance, the boys looked much sharper than we have seen them this soon after playing their high school seasons. Traveling to Raleigh was not we all dreamed as the area received record low temperatures while we were there. The game on Friday against Eagles SC Black from Ohio South was played in 40 degree temps and winds at 15-20mph for the entire game. Getting shots in the game was very difficult as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Even though we were able to control the ball in the middle by keeping it on the ground, getting a goal was not to be. By Saturday morning the winds had died down by the game time temp was at 30 degrees. Play was much better though as we came away with a 1-0 victory against Florida Soccer Alliance. Looking much sharper as the game went on we were able to many more scoring chances but only convert on a goal by Joe Pacella. The assist on the goal went to Jake Gamble. As Sunday rolled around, temps got into the upper 40s by the end of the game, which seemed to help the boys. Playing against FCCA 91 RED from NC, the boys had their game on. By beating this team 4-0, the boys showed that they were coming out ready to play this season. We were able to constantly beat this team to the ball, control the middle of the field, manufacture numerous scoring chances and corner kicks. In addition, the defense was stellar once again, holding the opponent to few shots and scoreless for the 3rd game. Goals for the game were scored by, Drew Sikora, John Crawshaw, Tim Wood and Jake Gamble with assists going to Sikora, Gamble, Nate Troscinski and Luddy Hanczar. We are looking at this past weekend as a stepping stone of many good things to come during the spring season as we will try and make a mark in PA West and Region 1. Hope that everyone has a great holiday season and enjoys the time with their families……
11/19/08
After a long a grueling high school season the boys are back on the pitch as one unit. We will be traveling to Raleigh, NC for the CASL College Showcase Tournament this weekend for three games. We will be playing against team from Ohio South, NC and Florida. Keep updated on scores and time through the “Schedule” portion of this website. A couple of notes: First of all we would like to welcome a Nico Marocco and his family to the Beadling U17 team. Nico comes to us from Moon HS and the coaches feel he will be a great addition to the team. Secondly we would like to congratulate Coach Evans and Nate Troscinski (Peters Township HS) for picking up two medals during the high school season, a gold medal for winning the WPIAL and a silver medal for finishing in second place in the PIAA. For those keeping stats, we have had a player from this team win the WPIAL in the last three year. (Chris Paglia, Bethel Park in 2006, 2007) Good luck this weekend boys, as the journey starts to once again defend our PA West State Cup Championship.

Once again the boys came to the pitch facing elimination. But, this time there would not be the result we needed to have a chance to move on to the semi-finals. The game ended in a 2-0 loss to a very tough Maine team that also needed this win for a chance to move on. With local newspapers covering the game and hundreds of fans surrounding the field they were able to get it done and have moved on, Congratulations to them. With a 2-0 score in a game, it may appear that we were over matched, but that was not the case on this day. We gave this team everything thay could handle and more. Maine may have had the better of the play in the first half and saw that play get them a 1-0 lead, but OUR TEAM really out played them in the second half. But unfortunately, as noted by the score, we were not able to translate that into a goal. As a parent watching games from the side, you hear things from others that make you think. During the second half of the game I was standing near a few Maine fathers. One of them says to the other "Why are they playing so hard, they can't advance." Well sir.... That is what we do!!!!! You can bring you rankings, your skill and your bigger and maybe even better players to play us and we will do our best to win that game. WE WILL NOT QUIT, WE WILL PLAY UNTIL THE FINAL WHISTLE BLOWS, WE PLAY THIS GAME TO WIN AS A TEAM. I'd like to take a moment to thank COACH GREG DAY, who will not be returning to the team next year. Greg will be moving on to another team within the Beadling Club. Greg, thank you for everything you have done for these boys. Many could not be at the level they are with out your help, your instruction, your "you being you". You will be missed by players and parents alike. I'd like to also thank COACH STEVE EVANS. Steve, the past 5 years of you working with our boys, making them better players, making them better people, teaching them more than just soccer has been tremendous for this team. No coach cares for their players more than you. you are the rock of this team. Down the line, these kids will reward you just by being better players, better humans, better adults. One day, we will reward you with a Regional Championship. We look forward to working for you and with you the next two years. When a season ends, it always ends up mostly on a sad note. The commraderie on this team makes this ending a little easier. We know we have some unfinished business to take care of in the future. Everyone have a great summer, good luck during your High School season. Remember, play every game like your are playing with your Beadling brothers.........

With their backs against the wall, the boys came through with a much needed win this mornign against Rhode Island 2-1, The first goal coming on a PK from Dylan Bogdan as he was pulled down from behind inside the 18. A couple of scoring opportunities did not materialize as the half ended 1-0. The second opened strong for the team but once again not much to show as the only tally came on a throw in from Bogdan to Jake Gamble who headed the ball past a stunned keeper. Knowing that we needed more goals to help out with tiebreakers, the boys kept the pressure on. Even though we were able to mount enough offensive pressure we could not put one past the keeper from Rhode Island. Rhode Island was able to get one back late in the game as we had to play the last 15 or so down a man. Tomorrow we will play the home town team from Maine (#15 in Region 1) in a game both teams need to win. We will also need some help from Rhode Island for us to be able to advance. We need to take care of our own and let the chips fall where they may. It will once again be MUST WIN for us and we are looking forward to it !!!!!!!!
06/27/08
In the opening round of the Region 1 tournament the boys drew the Freestate Titans (#11 in the US and #3 in Region 1)And did we give them everything we had. Freestate jumped out 1-0 in the first 5 minutes on a redirect from their center mid. But we came roaring back, getting better of play for the next 20 minutes until Nate Troscinski topped one over the outstrectched goalie. Getting the assist on the play was Tim Wood, who headed the ball to Nate on a throw in. With play even the rest on the half the score remained 1-1 going into the secomd half. Freestate came out with fires but we were able handle everything they threw at us....... until the 80th minute when we received a "dangerous play" call inside the 18 where Freestate got an indirect kick. With one pass and a shot it was over. Final Freesate 2, Beadling 1. Once again we were able to handle one of the best teams in the region. Tomorrow we play the state champ from Rhode Island at 9:45am. With a win tomorrow we will still have life for our last game against Maine on Monday.
MAINE.... HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!

For the 3rd time in five years, the Beadling 91-92 boys have captured the PA West State Cup crown. In a game that started out very sluggish, the boys overcame any sort of first half jitters and scored a 4-0 victory over the Arsenal team. In the first half, the best scoring chance was by Arsenal as Chris Zier spectacularly turned away a ball destined for the back of the net. The half ended at 0-0 without much of a threat from our boys. But the second half was much different as Tim Wood and Drew Sikora each netted 2 goals to account for all of the goals. In addition Frankie Lamanna picked 2 assists. With the win, we will now represent PA West U16 boys at the Region 1 championships in Portland, Maine . With this goal now completed, it is time for this team to go out and make a mark at these games. With new additions to the team bringing a stronger level of competition to our practice, players have had to bring their best every time they step on the pitch. This has made us a much stronger and tighter unit. Pushing each other for playing time, making your teammate better, has made us a much better team. This has been a great formula for success. With two weeks of practice, we will fine tune our game to reach our peak as we travel to Maine for game on 6/27-29. We still have goals to stive for and we will need to work much harder to get their. But, we will do this together, as one....... Congratulations to all of the Beadling teams that also have won championships. we will see you in Maine.
06/04/08
Not even the rain could stop the boys last night as Beadling rolled to a 6-0 victory in the State Cup Semi-Final game against Foothills. Once again the scoring attack was widespread as 5 players tallied the 6 goals, this time led by Colin Seigfreid as he netted one in each half. Ball control and passing were key, even in the very wet conditions. Team play was very much on display with 5 different players getting assists, Drew Sikora picked up 2. Tonight the boys will play for their 5th consecutive State Cup Chamionship and the right to represent PA West in the Region Tournament in Maine. The game will be played at California University Field #8 against Arsenal who won last night in PK's against FC Pittsburgh. This will be the first time Arsenal has made it to the championship game. Our boys record in the finals is at 2-2. Tonight we will be looking to gain one of our goals for the season. Bring back the State Cup Championship to Beadling and make us the 3-time State Cup Champions. Good luck tonight and we wish all of the Beadling team playing the final the very best.
06/01/08
What started out as a very wet weekend ennded with planty of sunshine to the Beadling team. Picking up victories against IFC, Victory, and FC Pittsburgh, has enabled the team to advance to the semi finals for the 5th straight year. Team play and solid defense led to the boys out scoring their opponents by a total of 16-2 in the three games. 9 different players were able to pick up goals in the 3 games, led by Andrew Sikora with 4, while both keepers, Jason Barbarino and Chris Zier saw action to pick up the victories. Our attention will once again focus on getting to the State Cup finals and competing for our 3rd State Cup crown. Semi finals and finals will be held this week. Please check the Game Schedule for times and locations.
4/28/08
In a wild weekend of games, the boys were able to become finalists in the Nike Challenge Cup for the 2nd time. Each time losing to the Eagles Blue SC, currently ranked #2 in Ohio, #9 in Region 2 and #32 in the US. In the Saturday games we were able to squeak out a 1-0 victory over a tough Worthington Crew team as Drew Sikora scored on a corner kick from Colin Seigfreid. Frankie Lamanna picked up the loose ball and dished it off to Drew to get the eventual goal. In the second game, a 3-0 victory over CUSC (Carmel, IN) Lamanna picked up a goal this time off of an assist from Seigfreid, Colin also picked up the second goal with the assist going to Ethan Shula. Joe Paladino closed out the scoring as Sean Bernardi picked up that assist. But the best was yet to come as Sunday brought the bought the boys against Hoosier FC (#21 in Region 2). With the score 1-0 Beadling, on a PK from Dylan Bogdan, the Hoosier team tied the score with 30sec. remaining in the contest. Because both teams were undefeated going into the contest and all tie breakers were equal, a shootout was needed to determine who would advance to the finals. In a great shootout contest, the boys from the ‘Burgh prevailed 7-6 as Chris Zier was able to stop 2 of the Hoosier shots and Sean Bernardi netted the final tally. Coming back a few hours later to play the final against a highly regarded Eagles Blue SC team from Ohio would be a strong test for the team. With the Eagles team jumping out to a 2-0 lead by halftime, the boys had placed themselves in a very difficult position. But with some very strong efforts and a change in tactics, the boys seemed to ignite as we stormed back. Our first goal coming from Tim Wood on a thru ball from Ethan Shula really got the team going. Moments later, Lamanna buried a corner kick from Dylan Bogdan past the helpless goalie. Regulation time ended with the score locked at 2. The teams were now on to 2-10 minute overtime periods. The Beadling boys were able to get one as Wood scored his second of the game on pass from Jake Gamble 4 minutes into the first 10 minute period. Unfortunately, the Eagles team netted one with about 3 minutes to go in the second to keep the score tied. Once again it was on to Penalty Kicks. This time it was not to be as the local team scored a 4-1 victory in PK’s. Many good things came out of this weekend. Players, who at times have struggled this season, elevated their games to the level we are accustomed to. Boys played through some tough injuries this weekend and left everything they had on the field. The “never say never” attitude, playing against a nationally ranked team. The team showed the camaraderie that can come from playing these types of games. Being able to look your fellow player in the eye when you succeed is easy, being able to look at them when you don’t can be very difficult. We must remember that we need to be prepared to step on the pitch to help our fellow player at a moments notice. You never know when it is your turn to shine. When we all show the respect for each other as a player and as a person, things like that come very easy. We will now take some time to heal and adjust our focus to the PA West State Cup in a few weeks. We know what the goal is. We, as a team, 18 players strong, need to be prepared for what comes at us.
4/21/08
In the final game of the WAPS/Colonial League, the boys took on the Foothills team at Beaver High School. In the early action of the game, we were able to score a couple of goals within the first 10 minutes of action. Both goals coming from the foot of Tim Wood as Chris Paglia and Ethan Shula each picked up assists. The game turned into back and forth affair with plenty of work in the midfield of both teams. As each team was able to account for scoring threats, the goals did not happen until mid way through the second half as Foothills got to within a goal on a direct kikd from about 25yds. out. A perfectly placed ball that hit the inside of the left post crossing the goal line. That goal seemed to give new life to Foothills as they knotted the score a few minutes later on a ball that was chipped over the Beadling keepers outstretched arms. With the score now tied at 2, new life seemed to generate into the boys as they peppered the Foothills goalie until Jake Gamble netted one on an assist from Joe Pacella that marked the final tally of the day. Unfortunately, even though we were able to post a 5-1-1 record and tying for 1st place in the WAPS League, we will not be able to advance to the finals due to a head to head loss in the tiebreaker. On a day that could have netted more scores for the boys, we need to keep in mind the team concept, working together as one unit and unselfishness will bring a greater result to the unit. Playing to "our" level, will ruin any chance the opposition may think they have. This weekend we will travel to Dublin, Ohio to play in the Nike Challenge Cup and then we will set our sites on winning the State Cup for the 3rd time.
4/13/08
The action in the WAPS League had our boys playing two games at the Century United field complex this past weekend. In the first game against PFC, the boys were able to handle the undermanned PFC team with constant pressure from the midfield and some outstanding defense from the back line of players. With the score ending at 6-0, many players were able to hit the scoreboard with either goals or assists. Leading the way was Tim Wood with 1 goal and 2 assists, followed by Colin Seigfreid with 2 goals. Also getting multiple points was Dylan Bogdan with 1 and 1. Getting single points on goals were Joe Pacella and Joe Paladino. Picking up assists for the first game were Ethan Shula, Frankie LaManna and Sam Sestito. In the second game against Century United the boys were able to get their second victory of the day as Sean Bernardi put in a reboound of a Tim Wood shot for the only score of the game with about 8 minutes to go in the game. It appeared we could have had a few more goals in this game but each time the Century goalie was able to thwart our attemts with some stellar play. Once again defense played a strong part in both game as we were able to throw two more shut outs. It was a good day for all as the boys improved to 4-1-1 in the WAPS league with one game remaining.
4/7/08
Today's games had the team traveling to Beaver High School to play two teams from New York. In the first game we played BC Fusion from Binghamton. Once again, scoring opportunities we many but goals were few. The lone Beadling goal came on a cross from Jake Gamble to Sean Bernardi who fed the ball to Drew Skora who buried the ball behind the Fusion keeper. Playing much more fire and intensity the boys were able to make that goal stand up for a much needed 1-0 victory. A couple of beautiful saves by Beadling keeper Chris Zier kept the Fusion team off of the scoreboard. In the second game of the day, Beadling was able to hold down a very physical Rochester club. We were able to one goal in the first half on a long ball down the right side from Joe Pacella to a streaking Sean Bernardi. Sean was able to control the ball send a cross to Joe Paladino who made a move around the lone Rochester defender and slip one p[ast the Rochester keeper. In the second half, the boys could sense that this game was their as they were able to tally two more goals. One coming from a ball that Colin Seigfreid laid off to Frankie LaManna who served a great ball into the middle where Paladino was able to notch his second of the day. The last goal was very similar other than Bernardi dropped one to LaManna this time. LaManna took what appeared to be a shot from about 30 out. The ball was blocked in front and Seigfreid was able to get to the loose ball and drill one in the back of the twine from about 25 out. Overall, a great day for the defense of Dylan Bogdan, Chris Paglia, Joe Pacella and Frankie Lamanna who held both New York teams to very few shots and the keepers Chris Zier and Jason Barbarino who did not allow anything to get past them. Very good effort on the day by all players, knowing that we need to produce on both ends of the field for this team to be complete.

When you do what you need to do and things still do not work out, you have two options, complain and talk about "what ifs" or think about why things did not work out and then correct them. In the second "must win" game in two days the boys were able to get that second win. Today we were able to put away FC Beach 2-0. In a very evenly played first half that saw Beadling goalie come up with two tremendous saves and Frankie Lamanna knock one away and over his own net, it may seem that we were very happy to come away with a 0-0 score at the half. But the boys turned it up a notch in the second half as Dylan Bogdan netted the first goal on a PK after he was taken down inside the box. The other goal coming on a cross from Tim Wood to Colin Seigfreid who laid the ball off to Lamanna. Frankie promptly rang the ball off of the right post where Tim wood scooped up the loose ball and buried it to close out the scoring. But this was not enough as we ended up in a three-way tie only to lose out on goal differential. Biggest lesson learned from this weekend? Play with the work ethic, the drive, the desperation and the passion every time you lace up your cleats.... until the final whistle blows.

This is the way a soccer game should be played, sunny and 65 degrees. It is early in the spring season call a game a "must win", but this was a win that these boys needed. After once again outplaying their opponent, the boys were unable to convert any shots into goals in the first half. But with about 15 to go in the game we were able to tally the first goal of the game. Goal coming from a well placed corner kick by Colin Seigfreid to the outstretched head of newcomer Joe Pacella. But the joy was short lived as the Hockessin Clash from NJ came right back and knocked a loose ball into the back of the net with about 10 to go. Knowing they needed a win to stay alive in this tournament the boys turned everything up a notch as they were not to be outdone on this day. The game winning goal, coming with about 3 minutes to go, got past the keeper on a header by Dylan Bogdan on a soft cross by Luddy Hanczar to make the final score 2-1. This was a feel good game that was much needed. Hopefully this can carry over into tomorrow. We will still need a win at noon to stay alive for a spot in the Championship game.
3/20/08
On Thursday the boys opened up the Jefferson Cup tournament with a loss to TSF Academy from New Jersey. The inability to score goals once again proved to be the undoing of the team as the boys lost 1-0. On a very windy day, we were able to maintain the better of the play during the first half but still could not put the ball in the back of the net. In the second half the defense held strong except for a loose ball in the box that TSF was able to knock thru for the winning goal with about 10 minutes to go.
In a day that started with much anticipation and hope, has ended with frustration. Saturday, the boys made their start in the WAPS / COLONIAL League. The opening game against Lanco United started very well with plenty of energy that produced many scoring chances but no goals. Our team hit two crossbars in the opening 10 minutes, but ultimately were unable to convert any shots into goals. Lanco was able to notch one off of a direct kick just outside of the 18 early in the second half to come away with the 1-0 victory. In the second game of the day, this one against Lehigh Valley, play was much better for the boys. The boys worked very hard in a game that turned very physical at times. The lone goal for Beadling came on a direct kick by Tim Wood that carried 40 yards to the waiting foot of Jake Gamble. Jake was able to get behind the defense anc direct the ball before it touched the ground past the helpless Lehigh goalie. Lehigh got the tying goal on a play much the same as no one picked up the ball or the man on a direct kick that traveled 50yds. The Lehigh player went in untouched and zipped the ball underneath the Beadling goalie. Overall for the day, coming away with a loss and a tie was not how we all envisioned this day to be. But that is how it ended and we will need a stronger effort and we will need to place more balls into the back of the net next weekend as we travel to Richmond, VA to play in the Jefferson Cup.

This past weekend the boys plyed in their first College Shocase Tournament. In the first game against PA CLASSICS 91 PREMIERE (#24 in REGION 1) the boys were able to control most of the game with aggressive play in the forward and mid positions. Jake Gamble was relentless in an attacking mode which finally resulted in a goal for him on an assist from Ethan Shula. Our second goal also came from an assist from the mid psition, Colin Seigfreid, to Dylan Bogdan playing the left wing position. The only goal given up by our boys in this game came as a result Penalty Kick because of a foul in the box. With a 2-1 victory in the morning the weekend of friendlies started of rather well. In the afternoon, we had a game against YMS Explosion (#2 in REGION 1, #9 in the US). This game had a very quick and physical pace to it. That something we will take away from this game. If you really want to get to the next level you must adapt to the style of play of your opponent. The game started of with us getting the a goal in the first 5 minutes. The goal was by Dylan with the assist going to Joe Paladino. Not letting us get too confident, YMS came right back with a goal of their own shortly after. This game resulted in a 1-1 draw. The team from Yardley was very strong, very talented and very physical. This was a contest where at times we reliquished ground back came roaring right back. I think there were many positives from this game none more than being able to hold and gain ground on a top team in the country. We are hoping this will be a stepping stone for the upcoming spring season which will in turn propel us back to regaining our PA WEST State title and them making some noise at the Regionals in '08. (side note: Sunday's game against the Baltimore Bays was cancelled due to weather)

The schedule has been updated to include the games scheduled at the PA CLASSICS WINTER COLLEGE SHOWCASE.

Hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer and a great high school season. It is now time for the boys to get back at it. Our first tournament will be held in New Holland, PA where will play 3 "friendly" games. The games will be played on Dec. 1 and 2. The format will be 2 games on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. The scheduled should be posted and I will add it to this site late this week or early next week. The State Cup semi-final and finals were held this weekend at the Turner Valley fields at the Norwin Soccer Complex. In the semi-final game against Arsenal, the boys were able to pull out a 2-1 victory in the second half of the 30 minute overtime period. Arsenal opened up the scoring in the first half. Arsenal played a very hard and intense game, knocking numerous passes away, beating us to many balls in the midfield. Arsenal had the better of the play for most of the game. We seemed to get rejuvenated as Dylan Bogdan had a great throw in to the foot of a streaking Jake Gamble. Jake was able to fire one off into the keeper as Andrew Skora knocked home the loose ball to knot the game midway through the second half. The winning goal came with about 8 minutes to go in the overtime as Ark James lobbed one over his head to Jake Gamble. This time Jake would not be denied as he buried the ball behind the Arsenal keeper. To Arsenal’s credit, there was about 8 minutes to go and they did not give up, forcing the play in our end and we held on. Their best opportunity came when Jason Barbarino made a diving save to his right to knock away one final attempt.
Sunday brought us back to face the Erie Admirals in the State Cup final for the 4th consecutive year. This game would be just like many we have played against Erie, very physical, very fast and very emotional. Erie jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Andy Luban found a little bit of space around the 22 yd. line and let loose a shot that we were not able to knock away. That amount of space was one of the few times he did not have John Crawshaw draped over him. Once again, John played a tremendous game, 80 minutes of hard fought defense against one of the better players in this region. Erie’s second goal came on a counter attack as they quickly got the ball down the field after a direct kick from our team. Down 2-0 at the start of the second half was not where we wanted to be, but there was no quit in our team today. Getting the better of the play in the second half we were able to get within one as Ethan Shula slipped one to the foot of Andrew Skora. Drew turned and put one into the twine. With twenty to go, we had the energy, the momentum and the will to push this game to the end. But alas, it was not meant to be…
Even though we had our chances and we had Erie on their heels playing 8 or 9 in the box, we were not able to get the tying goal this day. So their will not be a trip to Maine and for the third straight time neither team was able to win the cup in back to back years.
The crazy thing about State Cup soccer is when you lose, IT’S OVER!!! In high school, the boys still have school the next day, they still have homework, and they still do the same routine. But now, we all have to find a new routine. High school training will be starting soon and you and your boys will get into a whole new routine with a different group of players, parent and coaches. We will cross paths again at some point during the summer. We will reflect back on what shoulda, coulda, woulda have been. The facts are, we finished the spring with a 14-5-4 record. Losses coming to the WAPS League Champion, PA West state Cup Final, the #15 team in Region 1 and an 18 year old team. This team is as close as we have been to becoming one of those top teams in this region. But talk is talk. Until we can actually beat a few of those teams and not just “play with” them, we will never get the recognition we think we deserve. I think that if these players can make that commitment that is needed, we can be one of those team. It will take each player working that much harder to be a little bit faster, a little bit quicker, a little bit stronger and ultimately, a little bit more committed. Hope everyone has a great summer and good luck to all 7 Beadling teams headed to Maine, wish we were with you………
05-29-07
As a tune up for the PA West State Cup, the boys traveled to Columbia, MD for a tournament this past weekend. We finished with a record of 2-1-1 for the weekend. That record was good enough to make it to the finals where we did lose to the #15 ranked team in Region 1, South Jersey Barons. Highlights of the weekend were a 2-2 tie with the #1 team in Delaware, Kirkwood Nemesis, (This was a game that we could have put away and Kirkwood scored on a PK in the last 5 minutes to salvage a tie.), Andrew Skora – 2 goals, 3 assists, Jake Gamble -2 goals, Frankie Lamanna and Sean Bernardi with 2 goals and 1 assist each. Playing against a couple of the top teams in region 1 will serve us well as we move into the semi-finals of the State Cup against Arsenal this Saturday at 8am (Turner Valley #1). Good Luck to all teams still playing for the chance to go to Maine for the Region 1 Championships.
05-21-07
With 3 victories in the round robin portion of the State Cup, the boys can now ready themselves for the semi-final game against Arsenal. This will be the 4th consecutive year that we have faced Arsenal in the semi-finals. The boys have positioned themselves to make another run at the State Cup and we will look forward to those games in two weeks. Before the next round of State Cup games, we will travel to Columbia, MD for a tournament over the Memorial Day weekend. In this tournament we will face the #17 team in Region 1, Kirkwood Nemesis, the #1 team in Delaware.
05-14-07
With a 4-1 victory Saturday against STM, we have now concluded our play in the WAPS League. Our final record in the league was 3-2-1. The two loses and a tie was against good competition and should serve us well as we will start our defense of the PA WEST State Cup this coming weekend. In the 3 years that we have competed for the State Cup, no team has successfully defended their title. You come into the tournament with a bull’s eye on your back. Everyone wants to be the one to send you home. It will take a complete team effort to defend the title. It will take everyone wanting this title just like you wanted your first one. It will take a “US AGAINST THE WORLD” attitude. You will need to go into this with your head held high because YOU and the State Champ until someone can wrestle it away from you. Remember, TO BE THE MAN, YOU’VE GOT TO BEAT THE MAN……. And yes, WE ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!
05-06-07
Saturday’s game against Century V was a battle of second place teams in the WAPS League. With each team looking to solidify their place among the better teams of Region 1, this game had the makings of an epic battle. Unfortunately this turned into a game of controversy and one-upmanship by the referees. There were approximately 8 yellow and two red cards handed out in the game. One of the reds was given to a player who the referee “thought” he had given a yellow card to, previously. Our boys played down a man for 40 minutes and then down two men for the final 15 before the game ended under protest, with time remaining in the game. The score at the time the game was called was in favor of Century, 3-1. Our only goal came on a ball over the top from Dylan Bogdan to Ark James. Ark was able to handle the ball and slip one by the beaten goalie.

In a weekend of travel for the WAPS league, it saw our boys play one game Saturday and Sunday in Erie. Saturday’s game against the Erie Admirals was the usual slugfest. Plenty of hard work and a few missed opportunities is the norm when these two teams get together. With the game ending in a 0-0 tie you can be sure the defense was once again stellar. The back line of Luddy Hanscar, Tim Wood, Frankie LaManna and Dylan Bogdan held the Erie team in check all afternoon. Each team has their scoring chances but neither could convert. The best for our boys came in the last eight minutes as we flooded the offensive zone but to no avail. Sunday’s game against CNY of Rochester, NY was more of same until Jake Gamble drilled one in from about 30 yds. with 12 minutes left in the game. The ball came to Jake as John Crawshaw and a CNY midfielder went up for a head ball. Jake was able to quickly corral the ball, turn and put one into the upper left just out of the goalie’s reach. This was a game where we could have scored 3 or 4 as we rang that many off of the post and crossbar. But the CNY team were able to with stand everything that we had. This puts our record at 2-1-1 in the WAPS league. With two games remaining in the league we will be looking to finish strong. This weekend was about picking up your game when the team needs you most. Once again we played one game (against Erie) without two of our players. But, as a TEAM, we were able to overcome our own deficiencies, proving that YOU need to come to play every time you step on the pitch. Elevate YOUR game to make this team better.

This past weekend the boys travel west to Hilliard, Ohio to play in the Champions Cup soccer tournament hosted by the Thunder Soccer Club from Hilliard. The weekend brought lots of promise as the boys were able to come away with 1st place. Even though we played without two key players due to injury and illness, we were still able to come away victorious in this round robin format. The weekend showed how far we have come to be able to play a new style in very adverse conditions. Both games on Saturday were played in continuous rain and both games on Sunday were played in 30 mph winds. Keeping your shape and maintaining your focus were two key elements that were put on display by our boys. In the 4 games, we were able to outscore our opponents by the score of 14-1. 11 different players were able to find the back of the net as 9 different one picked up assists. This is a key factor in this team’s development. We will be able to move at a faster pace when we realize that the TEAM is above any and all individuals. Play your position, play as a team, play as one……
Next week we travel to Erie to play 2 WAPS game. Both games will be key, as we seek to win the WAPS League. Let’s hope for some sun….

Finally, real soccer games that mean something!!! The start of the WAPS League had the Beadling team travel to Buffalo for a double header on Sunday. In the first game against West Virginia Rowdies, the boys came out flying, getting a quick goal with barely the first minute gone. The goal by Frankie Lamanna, came on a nice cross from Luddy Hanczar deep from the right corner. As we controlled most of the play, we were only able to put away one more scoring chance before the half ended as Andrew Skora scored on a rebound as the peppered goalie for WV lay beaten. Andrew got his second goal of the game as Colin Seigfreid fed Jake Gamble down the left side. Jake blasted a shot that the WV goalie was able to get a piece of, but there was Andrew to knock home the loose ball. The rest of the game was simply an offensive display as Ark James picked up a couple of goals. One unassisted and one came on a very unselfish play by Jake as he could have a taken a shot himself but fed a streaking Ark inside the 10. The final tally came on a shot from the right side by Rob Heuler, a shot that floated in over the outstretched goalie from WV. The second game of the day against #14 ranked Buffalo proved to be a much sterner test. This was a game that had many waves from both sides. It was not until 10 minutes into the second half that Buffalo was able to pick up a loose ball in the box and put away the only goal for both teams. This was a typical hard fought game that we will be accustomed to. When you play a very tough team on their surface with their referees, you know it will be a tough game. Kudos to all of the boys in this contest. When you can look at yourself and know that you gave it your all, be proud of your game. Even though we had to play down for 20 minutes, there was no quit yesterday. Once again the defense was on top of its game, the midfield fought hard for their precious ground and the forwards and wings never said never….. Everyone have a nice Easter and we will be back at it April 14, 15 in the Champions Cup tournament in Columbus, Ohio.

The opening game on Sunday against the U-16/17 North Stars team was a hard fought battle that resulted in a 1-1 tie. A nice crossing pass from Andrew Skora to Jake Gamble resulted in the lone Beadling goal. Once again the defense was stellar, limiting the North Star team to one goal coming from a PK. In the second game of the day, our boys were able to hold on to a 2-1 victory against a quality U-16 Century V team. Getting goals for our boys were Jake and Andrew. Assisting on the goals were Dylan Bogdan and Nate Troscinski respectively. The boys played well in both halves of this game, getting the best of the offensive play in the first half and standing tall on defense in the second. Overall, the defensive corps played very well this weekend, Jason Barbarino making many plays in the Century game and Tim Wood and Chris Paglia stopping many attempts by the opposition in all four games. With the team learning a new formation, there are going to be ups and downs throughout. But if the team will maintain their focus and stay the course, the peaks could be many and valleys very few. Next weekend we travel to Buffalo to start the WAPS schedule. Both games will be played on Sunday on the indoor field in Buffalo, NY.

With the first weekend of the 2007 washed out in Richmond, Va, the boys were finally able to get in some games on the outdoor pitch. This weekend games were played at Peter’s Twp. High School in the Icebreaker Tournament. This year’s round robin format enabled the boys to get four games in a two day span. The opening game was against last year’s U-15 finalist from Penns Forest. The opening two goals of the game came off of PK as each team committed a foul in the box. Penns Forest converted their PK and our boys did the same. John Crawshaw scored on the PK that came from a foul inside the 18 as Jake Gamble was dragged down from behind. Our second goal off of floating cross by Colin Seigfreid that somehow squirted to the foot of Nate Troscinski. From their Nate drilled the ball to the back of the net for a 2-1 lead. The scoring in the half ended as newcomer, Andrew Skora scored on a loose ball inside the 12. The ball came into the box from a direct kick from Dylan Bogdan. Beadling had the much better play in the half that resulted in the 3-1 halftime score. The second half was much different as Penns Forest controlled most of the play and our boys felt the effects of playing on the outside field for the first time this year. But nonetheless, the only goal PF scored was on another PK as a foul was committed as our goalie cam out to challenge a ball with a PF player. With the final score3-2, our boys made a good showing and were happy with their effort and results. The second game of the day came against the U-18 team from Victory. This game was a very tough one for the boys. Playing against a team that is 3 age groups older, the U-18 team showed their quickness and the physical style of play that comes along with it. Even though this game ended up as 3-0 loss, we will take some good things away from the game. Victory scored two early as one come on a deflection of our own player. Their last goal came with about 10 minutes left in the game. We will be able to leave with our heads up as we fought to challenge this team and never quit during the game. Players were able to step up and accept this challenge and they will be better players for that. This will be a long tough season, against many quality teams. As parents and players, we need to keep our focus on the end results of the season, as our boys become stronger and better players to defend State Cup title.

Coach Evans and Coach Day are pleased to announce the addition of ETHAN SHULA, TIM WOOD AND ANDREW SIKORA to the team. The coaches are very impressed with their skills, abilities, speed and desire and look forward to all 3 of these boys making a valuable contribution to the team. They all have played classic level soccer for either PFC or Penns Forest. Tim has also played ODP for the last couple of years. Ethan and Tim have just returned from a trip to California to play in the National Futsal Championship where their team finished in 3rd Place. Please join me in welcoming them to our team.

A WEEKEND THAT HAD STARTED OUT WITH MUCH PROMISE HAS NOW ENDED IN DISAPPOINTMENT. THE BOYS ENDED THEIR BID TO WIN THE REGION1 TOURNAMENT WITH A 2-0 LOSS TO SEACOAST UNITED FROM MAINE. THE GAME WAS VERY PHYSICAL FROM THE START AS MAINE SCORED AN EARLY GOAL ON A CLEAR PASS FROM THE RIGHT WING TO AN ALMOST UNMARKED MAN IN THE MIDDLE. FROM THEIR THE MAINE MIDFIELDER HEADED THE BSLL TO THE BACK OF THE NET. GETTING A FEW OPPORTUNITIES TO SCORE BUT UNABLE TO CAPITALIZE WAS THE STORY ONCE AGAIN. MAINE SCORED THEIR SECOND ON A PENALTY KICK AWARDED ON A HAND BALL IN THE BOX FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT GAME. THIS BRINGS TO AN END A LONG SEASON FOR THE BOYS THAT STARTED IN MID MARCH. WE FINISH THE SPRING SEASON WITH 15-8-8 MARK. INCLUDED IN THE RECORD IN A SECOND PLACE IN A U-16 PRESEASON TOURAMENT, 21ST PLACE IN A TOURNAMENT IN PORDENONNE, ITALY, UNDEFEATED IN ALL PAWEST GAMES AND OUR 2ND PA WEST STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.WE SHOULD LOOK BACK ON THE GOOD THAT THIS SEASON HAS BROUGHT US. IT WILL BE QUITE A WHILE BEFORE WE GET TOGETHER FOR THE NEXT SPRING SEASON. FACES MAY OR MAY NOT CHACNGE BY NEXT SEASON. ONE THING FOR SURE IS THAT WE, AS A TEAM NEED TO IMPROVE TO GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL. WHETHER IT IS BY WORKING HARDER IN THE OFF SEASON OR MAKING PERSONELL CHANGES, IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN. THE NEXT TIME THIS TEAM STEPS ON THE PITCH, IT WILL A U-15 TEAM THAT NEEDS TO BE UNITED IN OUR MINDS AND IN OUR PLAY. THIS TEAM WILL NEED THE SUPPORT OF THE PARENTS AS WELL AS ADMINISTRATION. WE, AS PARENTS, NEED TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR OUR COACHING STAFF. WE NEED TO THANK THEM FOR EVERYTHING THAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR OUR BOYS. THIS OFF SEASON WILL BE AN OFF SEASON OF “DECISION.” THERE WILL BE DECISIONS MADE BY COACHES, PARENTS AND PLAYERS ALIKE….”AM I HAPPY WITH THE COACHES, AM I HAPPY WITH THIS GROUP OF PLAYERS, AM I HAPPY WITH MY PLAYING TIME, AM I COMMITTED TO SOCCER AND THE TEAM, IS THIS THE BEST CLUB FOR MY SON, AM I HAPPY BEING PART OF A WINNING PROGRAM, AND MOST IMPORTANT, WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THIS TEAM BETTER” HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS THE REST OF THE SUMMER AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL PLAYERS IN THE FALL WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS.

WITH ONE WIN IN HAND, THE BOYS WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TEST OF PLAYING RESTON. THE GAME WAS VERY TENSE FROM THE FIRST TOUCH. WITH RESTON HAVING THE BETTER OF PLAY DURING THE FIRST HALF, THEY WERE ABLE TO GET ON THE BOARD TO LEAD 1-0. EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GET MANY CHANCES DURING THE FIRST HALF THE BOYS CAME OUT CONFIDENT TO START THE SECOND. SIX MINUTES INTO THE HALF PRODUCED THE TYING GOAL FOR OUR BOYS AS COLIN SEIGFREID FED A NICE THROUGH BALL TO JAKE GAMBLE. FROM THERE JAKE WAS ABLE TO GET THE BALL PAST THE DIVING RESTON GOALIE. WITH THE PRESSURE MOUNTING AND RESTON PLAYING DEFENSIVELY, WE WERE GETTING MORE AND MORE CHANCES TO PUT THIS GAME AWAY. UNFORTUNATELY, WITH ABOUT 15 TO GO WE HAD A HAND BALL IN THE BOX TO GIVE RESTON A PENALTY KICK. FROM THERE THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE GO AHEAD GOAL TO MAKE IT 2-1. WITH THE AIR OUT OF OUR SAILS, WE COULD NOT COME BACK TO TIE THE GAME. EVEN THOUGH THIS GAME ENDED IN A LOSS, WE SHOWED ONCE AGAIN THAT WE CAN PLAY WITH ANY TEAM IN THIS REGION. TOMORROW WE WILL PLAY THE TEAM FROM MAINE. THIS WILL BE A TRUE TEST TO SEE IF WE CAN COME BACK FROM SUCH A TOUGH EMOTIONAL LOSS.
06-30-06
WELCOME TO THE REGION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP. WE HAVE ARRIVED IN VIRGINIA FOR OUR SECOND ATTEMPT AT WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP. THURSDAY NIGHT WAS THE PARADE OF STATES, AS ALL STATE CUP CHAMPIONS FROM THE REGION ATTENDED THE EVENT. WITH AN OVERNIGHT THUNDERSTOM MOVING GAMES BACK IN THE SCHEDULE, THE BOYS WERE READY TO GO ON FRIDAY. WE OPENED THE TOURNAMENT WITH A GAME AGAINST THE STATE CHAMP FROM WEST VIRGINIA, WV VIPERS. IN THE OPENING HALF, BOTH TEAMS WERE SETTLING THEIR NERVES AS PLAY WAS A LITTLE SLOPPY TO BEGIN. BUT, AS THE GAME WORE ON, WE WERE ABLE TO GET NUMEROUS SCORING OPPORTUNITIES. WITH ALL OF THE OPPORTUNITIES, THE ONLY GOAL WE CONVERTED WAS IN THE LAST MINUTE OF THE HALF. JOEY PALADINO TOOK A THROW IN FROM ROB HEULER NEAR THE TOUCHLINE. JOEY WHEELED A CROSS TO JAKE GAMBLE. JAKE WAS ABLE TO PUSH ONE INTO THE BACK OF THE NET TO MAKE THE SCORE 1-0. THE SECOND WAS TOTALLY DOMINATED BY OUR BOYS AS WE COMPLETELY CONTROLLED THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD.OUR SECOND GOAL CAME MINUTES INTO THE HALF AS COLIN SEIGFREID DRILLED ONE INTO THE LOWER CORNER. ASSIST COMING FROM A BRYAN NICKLAS ON A PERFECT DROP. BRYAN WAS ABLE TO GET A GOAL OF HIS OWN WITH THE ASSIST GOING TO FRANKIE LAMANNA. JAKE CLOSED OUT THE SCORING WITH HIS
