Football

To the parents, players, coaches and the entire Buccaneer Family,

Welcome to Beach Buccaneer Football.  We are proud to provide an outstanding environment for Children ages 4-14 to learn about and play Football in Calvert County.  All Buccaneer athletics are designed to round out a participants experience by teaching good sportsmanship, teamwork, self discipline, respect for self & others and the importance of school and community.

I would like to welcome everyone back for the 2015 football season and give everyone a look at some exciting changes that will be taking place.

First off, The SMYAC (Southern Maryland Youth Athletic Conference) has voted to expand by adding four new teams, The Waldorf Wildcats, ST Leonard Lions, Southern Maryland Hawks, and the Hughesville Hurricanes. I would like to welcome each of these four clubs into our league and wish them all well.

Next, we have made some Major changes to the age/weight chart for the upcoming season. Ages 7u through 10u will now be called Division 1 and Division 2 instead of the senior and junior divisions. Our 11u, 12u and 14u divisions will no longer support a senior and junior division but will now be the AFC division and the NFC division. The AFC division will be unlimited weights and the NFC Division will continue to use the same weight chart as last season. Teams will be placed into their respective Divisions by each club, with input from the coaches based on the physical sizes of the players who have registered. (Teams with a large amount of players over the max weight for that Division, they will be put into the AFC, if teams have a majority of players under the respective weight for that Division. they will be place into the NFC)

There have been other rule changes that will be discussed at our June coaching meeting. I will let all coaches know the date and location as soon as its set.

Our Flag Football program is designed for 4-5 year olds and teaches the basics of football, without contact, in a fun environment.

As always, if anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.

Thank You,

Greg Disney
