Welcome to the home page for Boring-Damascus Little League (BDLL). You can reach us by mail at Boring-Damascus Little League, PO Box 1116, Boring, Oregon 97009. Starting with Tee Ball, we have leagues for kids of all skill levels. Our regular season registration starts at the end of December and the season begins about the first week of April and runs through the middle of June.
BDLL Boundaries
Our boundaries follow school boundary lines NOT city boundary lines, though two schools are divided by a county line. If the player goes to a private school then league membership is determined by which public school the player would attend based on their home address. If you live within the boundaries of the following schools you are in our Little League boundary:
Gresham-Barlow Schools:
Oregon Trail Schools
Little League Divisions and Team Selection Process (LL age is the player's age as of April 30; see the League Age Chart in the Handouts/Forms section):
TEE BALL: NO TRYOUTS Tee Ball is available to players LL age 4-6, however players who are LL age 4 must turn 5 by April 30 in order to play. Requests for a specific coach and/or teammates will be accepted and we will honor as many as possible.

Requests for a specific coach and/or teammate will NOT be accepted in the Farms division. Siblings will be placed on the same team.
MINORS: TRYOUTS ARE MANDATORY The Minors Division is available to players LL age 8-11. All players who tryout will be placed on a team; however, your child’s performance at the tryouts may determine in which division they will play. Not every 8 or 9 year old will be drafted into the Minors Division. Players age 8 & 9 that are not drafted to a Minors Team will be placed on a Farms Team. Requests for a specific coach and/or teammate will NOT be accepted in the Minors Division.
MAJORS: TRYOUTS ARE MANDATORY The Majors Division is for players LL age 10-12. Placement in the Majors Division is by a draft process. All Directors, Managers, Coaches and regular Umpires are required to be a member. Annual membership is $2.00. Background Checks
Little League requires that annual background checks be made on all volunteers who have direct access to the players. If you are one of those persons please download a copy of the Volunteer Application from this website. SSN is required. Adults will not be allowed to help out with the kids unless the check has been completed. This does not apply to snack shack workers, team moms or team dads. It only applies to those who have direct contact with the kids. Use the link below or go to the Handouts page to download the application.
Little League Volunteer Application
Parent Volunteers
As always we will need parent volunteers to help in the snack shack. In addition each team will need a TEAM MOM or DAD to assist the manager in coordinating the team’s activities, contacting players as necessary, assembling the teams basket for opening day, coordinating the year end team party and organizing the teams parents snack shack duty times. Each team will need a TEAM MOM or DAD to assist the manager by coordinating parents to assist in mowing the grass and raking the field after each game.
Little League Board
Local parent volunteers administer Little League. Currently there are 16 Board Positions. For the 2009 season a number of parents have volunteered as Board Members. However, we need dedicated parents to step up each year to insure the continued success of the league. Please think about volunteering your services.
Some Things To Think About
1 in 60,000 kids who play youth baseball will someday earn a paycheck by playing baseball. Most of the parents think their child might be the 1.
During a baseball game there are only 4 things you can be: Player, Coach, Umpire or Spectator. You have to choose one and only one category.
-
If you’re a player you should not be a coach, umpire or spectator.
-
If you are a coach, you can’t become a player, you are not the umpire and your team does not need you to be a spectator.
-
If you are an umpire, you are not playing the game, you are not a coach and people will be upset if you become a spectator.
-
If you are a spectator you are not playing the game, you are not a coach and you are not the umpire.
If your child was on the stage for a spelling bee would you stand up from the audience and yell at them or criticize them for misspelling a word? Why would a mistake they make on the baseball field be any different?
74% of the youth in the US quit playing sports by age 13. Of those who quit, 75% quit because of the pressure their parents put on them to perform.
During the Major League Playoffs and World Series every year there are questionable or incorrect calls made by Professional Umpires. Unpaid, amateur dads who are volunteering their time are going to make some mistakes. It is not acceptable to shout at or otherwise abuse an umpire. There are acceptable ways for a Manager or Coach to address a call.
