The Brakettes program is recognized as the greatest organized women's sports franchise of all time.  The Brakettes have 28 National Champioships to their credit.  The Brats lost the opening game of the doubleheader 4-0. The Brats got exceptional pitching from Kristen Mahoney. The Brats only hit was a perfectly executed drag bunt from Jenna Lipscomb.  It was the first time in a long time that a team has gone 7 inning with the Brakettes. In the 2nd game, it looked like the Brats would hang with the Brakettes again until the inning from hell(sloppy defensive play) put an end to that. The Brakettes scored 12 runs in the second inning all with 2 outs with the final score eventually being 14-5.  The good news is the Brats were able to score 5 runs, only 1 other team, a professional team(Philadelphia Force) has scored 5 or more runs against the Brakettes......scoring 5 runs is a great accomplisment. Emily Leverone led the Brats with 2 hits, with Marissa Palumbo, Brenna Morrissey, & Ashley Bilodeau having a hit of their own.  Marissa Palumbo, Casey Stoodley, & Brenna Morrissey all shined defensively.

The Bay State Brats finished as Massachusetts State runner-ups in the ASA State Championship held in Plainville this past weekend. The Brats finished the 22 team tournament with a 6 & 2 record.
The Brats pitching staff of Hannah Everson & Chelsea Durso continue to be impressive allowing only 5 earned runs on the weekend. Between them, they tossed 4 shutouts, struck out 32, and allowed only 7 base on balls for the eight games. The Brats were 6 & 0 heading into the Championship game and would have to be beat twice. Unfortunately, the Brats picked the wrong time to have 2 subpar defensive games. That, coupled with the outstanding performance by the Mass Drifters defense, proved to be the difference. In the 2 games, the Brats outhit the Drifters 19-16 with many more potential hits being robbed by the stellar defense of the Drifters.
Leading the Brats offensively were Lindsay Maroney with 14 hits, Kelly Horan with 11, and Brenna Morrissey with 9. Brenna was also a defensive standout.

The Bay State Brats came up a little short in this past weekends ASA State Tournament in Leominster, MA. The Brats finished as runner-ups to the RI Thunder in the State Finals. The Brats seeded #2 by going 2 & 0 with only 1 run allowed in the preliminary games. The Brats won their next 3 games adavancing them to the winner brackets final against a strong RI team. The Brats & RI Thunder had a classic pitchers duel as expected and were scoreless after 5 innings. The RI team broke the deadlock in the 6th with 2 runs. The Brats answered with 1 of their own in the bottom half of the inning, but RI put the game away with 2 more in the top half of the 7th. The Brats now with their 1st loss had to face a tough Firecracker Brats team. Another pitchers duel, but this time with the Bay State Brats on the winning side edging the Firecrackers 2-1. Another pitchers duel, another scoreless game after 5 innings, and another 6th inning meltdown proved too much for the Brats as they were defeated 3-0.
