The Bay State Brats closed out the 2012 season at the ASA's Lowell 23U Open Tournament this past weekend. The Brats went 3 & 0 on Saturday and earned the #1 seed. On Sunday, the Brats usual potent line-up were held scoreless and the Brats picked-up their 1st and only loss of the season to the So Maine Flames 2-0. The Brats finished their season with an amazing 29 & 1 record. The Bay State Brats captured the NCMASA's "Victor Blanchette Memorial Tournament" this past weekend in Leominster, MA. The Brats finished the tournament with a perfect 6 & 0 record outscoring their opponents 42-3. The Brats pitching staff of Chelsea Durso, Hannah Everson, & Jenn Lowrey continued to shine as they picked up 2 wins apiece while allowing only 1 earned run. Leading the Brats offensively were Melissa Jalbert(11 hits), Lauren Galavotti(9 hits) and Lauren Medeiros(6 hits). Defensively, shortstop Brenna Morrissey stood out. The undefeated Brats are now 22 and 0 on the year with 4 tournament championships. They will be in Dracut this upcoming weekend as they try to defend their NSA World Series crown. The 23/U Bay State Brats closed their season out by winning the ASA's "Lowell 23/U Open" this past weekend. The Brats finished the tournament with a perfect 6 & 0 record. The Brats finished the 2010 season with a 22 & 8 record outscoring their opponents 150-38. Of the Brats 22 wins, the pitching staff of Chelsea Durso, Hannah Everson, and Jenn Lowrey posted 16 shutouts. The Bay State Brats finished in 3rd place this past weekend in Fitchburg, MA. as they participated in the NSA'S 23/under "Fathers Day Bash" The Brats finished tie for the #3 seed going 2 & 1 on Saturday allowing only 3 runs. In the 1/4 finals on Sunday, the Brats shutout the NE Shock Gold 8-0 behind the outstanding pitching of Jenn Lowrey. The Brats got eliminated in the semi-finals 3-2 to eventual tournament champions Ct. Mirage despite an exceptional pitching performance from Chelsea Durso. The Bay State Brats 23/U opened their season in Lowell, MA. this past weekend. The Brats finished as tournament runner-ups with a 5 & 1 record. The Brats finished the preliminary round on Saturday as the #1 seed by going 3 & 0 and not allowing a run. They opened the single elimination portion of the tournament on Sunday by blanking the NE Phoenix 6-0. In the semi-finals, the Brats continued their strong pitching and great defense by shutting out the Bay State Bandits 8-0. The Brats now faced the CT Mirage in the Championship game. It was 0-0 after 3, when finally after 5 1/2 games, the Brats allowed their 1st run of the tournament. The Mirage relief pitching proved to be too much for the Brats as they lost 4-0. The Brats pitching staff of Chelsea Durso, Hannah Everson, & Jennifer Lowrey were outstanding allowing only 4 runs with 5 shutouts on the weekend. They got tremendous defensive support from the entire Brats team. Centerfielder Brenna Morrissey made an incredible catch in left-centerfield, for which she received a great ovation from fans of both teams. Offensively for the Brats, Brenna Morrissey led the team with 10 hits, Marissa Palumbo was next with 8, while Lauren Medeiros, Elena Anderson, Amanda Kressler & Amy Gordon each had 7 hits apiece. The Brats despite having several girls out due to injury were able to capture 3rd place at the NSA 23/U World Series this past weekend in Leominster, MA. After losing the 2 preliminary seeding games, the Brats got their act together in the single elimination portion of the tournament by winning 3 out of their next 4 games before being eliminated by the NSA World Series Champion CT Mirage in an exciting 6-5 game.

The Bay State Brats finished as tournament runner-ups at the ASA' Lowell 23/U Open Tournament this past weekend going 5-1-1. The Brats earned the #3 seed on Saturday by going 2-0-1. On Sunday the Brats won 3 in a row with wins over the NH Storm, CT Mirage, and the Mass Pressure before losing a tough game in the Championship 3-1 to the CT Tradition.

The Bay State Brats traveled to Frank Deluca Hall of Fame Field in Stratford, CT on Friday, July 24th as took on the Stratford Brakettes. The Brakettes program is recognized as the greatest organized women's sports franchise of all time. The Brakettes have 28 National Champioships to their credit. The Brats lost the opening game of the doubleheader 4-0. The Brats got exceptional pitching from Kristen Mahoney. The Brats only hit was a perfectly executed drag bunt from Jenna Lipscomb. It was the first time in a long time that a team has gone 7 inning with the Brakettes. In the 2nd game, it looked like the Brats would hang with the Brakettes again until the inning from hell(sloppy defensive play) put an end to that. The Brakettes scored 12 runs in the second inning all with 2 outs with the final score eventually being 14-5. The good news is the Brats were able to score 5 runs, only 1 other team, a professional team(Philadelphia Force) has scored 5 or more runs against the Brakettes......scoring 5 runs is a great accomplisment. Emily Leverone led the Brats with 2 hits, with Marissa Palumbo, Brenna Morrissey, & Ashley Bilodeau having a hit of their own. Marissa Palumbo, Casey Stoodley, & Brenna Morrissey all shined defensively.
The Bay State Brats finished in 3rd place at the NCMASA's Umpire Open 23/U Tournament in Leominster this past weekend. The Brats finished the tournament with a 4 & 1 record. The Brats will be heading down to Stratford, CT. on Friday as they take on the Brakettes in a exhibition doubleheader.

The Bay State Brats played the New Hampshire Elite in an exhibition game Wednesday, June 17th at the Soule School in Salem, NH. The Brats were victorious with a 6-1 win. The Brats pitching staff of Chelsea Durso, Jenn Lowrey, and Hannah Everson combined on a 2 hitter, allowing only 2 walks while striking out 9. Hillary Smyth and Lindsay Maroney led the Brats 14 hit attack with 3 hits each. Brenna Morrissey, Marissa Palumbo, Ari Mitropoulos, and Casey Stoodley all had 2 hits apiece. Defensively, Marissa Palumbo was a standout at shortstop.

The Bay State Brats opened the 2009 season in Lowell this past weekend. They went 2 & 1 in the seeding portion of the tournament earning them the #4 seed. Sundays single elimination round was cancelled due to rain. The Brats got exceptional pitching from Chelsea Durso, Hannah Everson, and Jenn Lowrey. The Brats pitching staff allowed only 1 run in their 3 games played. The Brats played well defensively, especially the play of shortstop Brenna Morrissey and 2nd baseman Jenna Lipscomb.

The Bay State Brats ended the 2008 season with a bang by capturing the ASA's "Commissioner's Cup" in Leominster, MA. The Brats finished the 12 team tournament with a perfect 6 & 0 record. Their final win-loss record for the year was an amazing 36 & 5, winning 3 Tournament Championships. The Brats also finished as tournament runner-ups at 3 different tournaments that were eventually rained out, never getting eliminated from any one of them. The ever reliable Brats pitching staff of Chelsea Durso & Hannah Everson continued their winning ways. They got unbelievable defensive support from the entire Brats defense: Catchers, Amanda Kressler & Ari Mitropoulos, Infielders, Amy Gordon, Jenna Lipscomb, Kelly Garrity, Brenna Morrissey, & Casey Stoodley, Outfielders, Emily Leverone, Hillary Smyth, Marissa Palumbo, & Jill Carver. The Brats offense got contributions from the whole team. It was without doubt a complete TEAM Championship.

The Bay State Brats finished as tournament runner-ups this past weekend at the ASA's All-American 18/U tournament in Lowell, MA. The 2nd place finish definately comes with an asterik. The Brats entered the single elimination portion of the tournament on Sunday with the #7 seed out of 29 teams going 2 & 1 on Saturday losing a tough 1-0 game to the NH Elite. The Brats allowed only 2 runs on Saturday. On Sunday, the Brats played better than the other remaining teams winning 4 games by shutout, and leading the Championship game over the #1 seed Charlton Wildfire 1-0 in the 4th inning when the rains came making the fields unplayable. The Wildfire got the 1st place finish due the rainout, but the Brats were the true champions on this day. The Brats pitching and defense allowed no runs on Sunday, and only 2 overall in the 8 games played. The Brats also overcame an injury to rightfielder Marissa Palumbo who had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. The Bay State Brats would like to thank all of those who helped Marissa till the EMT's arrived. She will be fine, a shoulder strain will sideline her for a short period. The Brats will be off next weekend, and return the weekend of August 1st in Leominster as they participate in the ASA's Commissioners Cup.

The Bay State Brats captured the 6th Annual "War at the Shore" 18/U ASA Tournament. in New Jersey this past weekend. This 20 team tournament included teams from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and of course our NH/Mass connection. The Brats finished the seeding portion of the tournament with a 4 & 1 record giving them the #4 seed going into Sunday. On championship Sunday, the Brats brought their "A" game going 4 & 0 and revenging their only loss in the tournament by crushing the host team RKE JAXX in the finals 7-3. The Brats semi-final game was a tough 5-4 victory over one of New Jerseys best teams, the NJ Pride. The Brats pitching staff of Chelsea Durso & Hannah Everson were exceptional once again. The Brats defense continues to prove they are without doubt one of the best in New England. Offensively, the Brats outscored their opponents 68-14 while pounding out 91 hits. Emily Leverone led the way for the Brats going 15 for 25 with 3 home runs. Marissa Palumbo was next with 13 hits while Amy Gordon added 11. The Brats will be at Burnham Road in Methuen on Wednesday night at 8:00pm to play the Northern Mass Mayhem as a prep for the upcoming All-American tournament in Lowell.

The 16 teams were: Bay State Brats, Mass Commotion, Firecracker Brats, NE Phoenix Gold, NH Royals, NE Invasion, Mass Inferno, Strikezone, NH Elite, Dracut Panthers, Firecracker Red Hots, Thunderkatz, Mass Intensity, NH Hammerheads, Seacoast Hurricanes, & the Stoneham Sparks. All games were held at the Leominster Lassie League Fields.

The Bay State Brats captured the Sandlot Softball Academy's "Independence Day Tournament" held in Manchester & Hooksett, NH. this past weekend. The Brats finished the tournament with a perfect 5 & 0 record. The pitching tandem of Chelsea Durso & Hannah Everson, and their tremendous defense behind them allowed only 1 run the entire weekend. The Brats offense exploded for 28 runs on 47 hits. They were led by Hillary Smyth with 9 hits, Casey Stoodley with 8, and Brenna Morrissey with 7. Defensively, the Brats entire team played exceptionally well. The Brats now head to the NSA States in Leominster this coming weekend.

The Bay State Brats finished as tournament runnerups this past weekend as they participated in the Southern Maine Flames "Diamond Challenge" 18/U tournament. The Brats were the #3 seed with a 2 & 1 record heading into the single elimination portion of the tournament on Sunday. In the 1/4 finals, the Brats got exceptional pitching from Chelsea Durso, great defense from outfielders Emily Leverone, Hillary Smyth, & Marrissa Palumbo, and timely hitting from Kelly Garrity to advance them into the semi-finals. The semi-finals found the Brats facing a familiar "Diamond Challenge" foe, the tournament host Southern Maine Flames. It was a typical pitching duel like many games they have played in the past with the Brats winning this one 1-0 behind the stellar pitching performance of Hannah Everson. The Brats scored the winning run in the 4th inning when Marissa Palumbo opened the inning with a single, she went to second on a bunt single by Casey Stoodley, Amy Gordon then sacrificed bunted them over to second and third before Emily Leverone hit a long rbi sacrifice fly scoring Palumbo. The Brats now advanced to the Championship to face the #1 seed Jr. Black Bears who was the only defeat suffered by the Brats 3-2 on Friday night. The first inning was scoreless. During the top of the second, the skys opened up making the fields unplayable. For the second straight weekend, the Brats finish a tournament as runner-ups with both tournaments being shortened due to rain.

The Bay State Brats opened the 2008 season by finishing as tournament runner-ups at the NSA's "Fathers Day Bash" this past weekend in Leominster, MA. The Brats finished with a 3 & 0 record during pool play earning them the #1 seed in their bracket. The Brats opened the tournament with a 4-3 win Friday night against the always tough Concord Raiders. The Brats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with key hits from Emily Leverone & Brenna Morrissey. The Raiders got all their runs in the 3rd inning tying the game 3-3. Hannah Everson shut the door the rest of the way on the Raiders with 4 innings of shutout relief allowing only 1 hit. The Brats scored the winning run in the 5th inning when Brenna Morrissey reached on a bunt single, Hillary Smyth moved Morrissey over to second with a sacrifice bunt, and Marrissa Palumbo drove the game winning rbi hit to left field. Palumbo was 3 for 3 for the game. Game #2 had the Brats winning by forfeit over the NH Elite as they were unable to field a team due to the NH high school state finals. Game #3 was against the Mass Destruction with the Brats pulling out a 3-2 victory in dramatic fashion. With the Brats trailing the Destruction 2-0 in the 6th inning, Casey Stoodley drove a double to right centerfield. Stoodley went to third on a scarifice fly by Emily Leverone before she scored on a clutch hit by Amanda Kressler. Down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Jenna Lipscomb led the inning off with a bunt single, Brenna Morrissey moved Lipscomb over to 2nd base with a sacrifice bunt, Lipscomb moved to 3rd on a groundout by Amy Gordon, Marrissa Palumbo walked and stole 2nd base and then Casey Stoodley with 2 outs delivered the game winning hit scoring both Lipscomb & Palumbo. The Brats offense was led by Stoodly, Palumbo, & Amanda Kressler, all with 2 hits apiece. The single elimination portion of the tournament on Sunday was cancelled due to rain. With a 3 & 0 record and only 5 runs allowed, the Brats earned a 2nd place finish out of the 17 teams entered.

The Bay State Brats finished in 3rd place this past weekend at the NSA's Worth Showcase 18/U Tournament in Leominster, MA. The Brats finished the tournament with a 3 & 3 record. The Brats did not play well in the seeding portion of the tournament finishing with a 1 & 2 record. Injuries were a major factor in the Brats limited offense. With Hillary Smith out due to an injured leg, and Casey Stoodley unable to bat due to an injured hand, the Brats looked for some offensive help for Sunday. The Brats did get that help with the return of Kate Murray & the addition of Jenna Lipscomb. Both Crusher & Jenna definately gave the Brats the spark they needed to turn things around. They opened the single elimination portion of the tournament with an 8-1 thrasing of the Seacoast Hurricanes. Up next for the Brats was the #1 seed Bucksport Lady Bucks of Maine. The Lady Bucks beat up on the Brats Saturday by the score of 7-2, but the #8 seed Brats turned the tables on the Lady Bucks Sunday and destroyed them 12-1. The semi-finals found the Brats facing the always tough Concord Raiders. The fans got their moneys worth watching this one. A nine inning thriller with the Raiders coming out on top 7-6. The Bay State Brats finished in 5th place out of 38 teams this past week at the ASA Eastern Nationals in York, PA. The Brats finished the tournament with a 6 & 3 record. The Brats went 1 & 1 in pool play, losing a tough 6-5 nine inning game to the Virginia State Champion Richmond Ruckus and a 6-0 win over the Chester County Gold of PA. The Brats opened the double elimination portion of the tournament with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the New Jersey State Champion NJ Rocks 3-2. The Brats then went on a hot streak winning 5 games in a row, including an exciting 8-6 nine inning revenge victory over the Richmond Ruckus. After battling the heat for 4 days, and outlasting 33 other teams, the Brats were finally eliminated on Sunday losing to the Ohio Swarm. Finishing 5th with an all 1st year 18/U team was a great accomplishment for the Brats. Just ask the Washington Senators, whose parents called us a 16/U team a couple of hours before we sent them packing back to DC.

The Bay State Brats participated in the NSA's 18/U "Summer Slam" this past weekend in Lowell/Dracut, MA. For the first time in Brats history, the team went winless, finishing the tournament with an 0 & 4 record. The Brats bats were silent for most of the weekend, but showed signs of coming out of their slump on Sunday morning scoring 4 runs against a strong "Bad Apples" pitcher. The Bay State Brats participated in the ASA New England Regionals in Lowell this past weekend finishing with a 3 & 2 record. This double elimination tournament found the Brats pitching staff of Chelsea Durso & Hannah Everson on the the top of their game as they allowed only 5 runs(3 earned)the entire weekend. Two of the runs came on a controversial "ground rule" homerun in a 2-1 loss during a Saturday morning winners bracket game. Unfortunately for the Brats, the usually reliable offense forgot to show up for this one, as the Brats scored only 8 runs all weekend, however, the Brats defense continues to play well. The Brats will be in Lowell again next weekend as they participate in the ASA All-American 18/U tournament. The Brats did look impressive in the win. Winning pitcher Chelsea Durso tossed a 2 hitter, struck out 6, and did not walk a batter. Hannah Everson pitched the final 2 innings with no hits allowed, 3 K's, and no walks. Offensively, the Brats were led by Brenna Morrissey, Kelly Horan, Kelly Ryan, & Casey Stoodley, all of which had 2 hits apiece. The entire Brats defense continues to shine with the biggest highlight of the game being a great grab out in centerfield by Lindsay Maroney. The Bay State Brats participated in the ASA All-American Tournament in Lowell this past weekend. The Brats opened the tournament Friday night with an offensive explosion as they crushed the Hudson Heat Elite 8-0. On Saturday, the Brats kept the bats alive as they rolled over the MV Thunderbirds 16-0 and the NH Lightning 9-0. The 3 shutout wins included a 1-hitter from Hannah Everson and a no-hitter from Chelsea Durso. On Sundays single elimination portion of the tournament, the #1 seed Brats opened up against the Tanner Pride. Brats pitcher Chelsea Durso pitched well as the Brats cruised to a 7-2 win. Next for the Brats were the MV Twisters in the semi-finals of their bracket. The Brats bats were silent as they were eliminated by the score of 3-2. The Brats came out flat against the spirited Twisters. The Brats made a run at them but came up a little short in the end. The Brats pitching staff of Hannah Everson & Chelsea Durso continue to be impressive allowing only 5 earned runs on the weekend. Between them, they tossed 4 shutouts, struck out 32, and allowed only 7 base on balls for the eight games. The Brats were 6 & 0 heading into the Championship game and would have to be beat twice. Unfortunately, the Brats picked the wrong time to have 2 subpar defensive games. That, coupled with the outstanding performance by the Mass Drifters defense, proved to be the difference. In the 2 games, the Brats outhit the Drifters 19-16 with many more potential hits being robbed by the stellar defense of the Drifters. Leading the Brats offensively were Lindsay Maroney with 14 hits, Kelly Horan with 11, and Brenna Morrissey with 9. Brenna was also a defensive standout. The Bay State Brats returned home from Columbus,OH. last night after finishing with an amazing 6 & 1 record at the NSA World Series. The Brats finished in 13th place out of 120 teams. The Brats never actually lost a second game in the double elimination tournament, but because of the rains and the disorganized tournament staff, the Brats decided to head home on Sunday morning. The Brats only loss of the Tournament was a 1-o heartbreaker to the eventual NSA World Series Champions Xtreme Edge of Tenn. The Bay State Brats now qualify for the NSA Super World Series in Illinois during Labor Day weekend. The Brats found themselves with an early loss in the double elimination tournament,however, they clawed their way out of the losers bracket and into the Championship Finals. The Finals found the Brats facing the Hudson Heat. The Brats would have to beat the unbeaten Heat twice to capture the Championship. The first game went to extra innings with the Brats pulling out the victory 3-1. The deciding game(which was the Brats 7th consecutive game of the day)went to the Heat by the same score of 3-1. The Brats arrived in Dracut at 7:00am and played 7 games in a row and finished at 7:30pm. A great accomplishment for the first tournament of the year. The Bay State Brats participated in the NSA's Memorial Day Classic this past weekend at Monahan Field in Dracut, MA. The Brats finished the seeding portion of the tournament with a perfect 4 & 0 record. On Sunday, the Brats were eliminated when they lost a tough 1 run game to the Bay State Bandits 7-6 who they beat on Saturday 9-5. The young Brats continue to show they belong with the high schoolers as they finished the Memorial Day Classic with a 4 & 1 record. On Sunday, the Brats faced their arch rival, the Dracut Panthers in the semi-finals with the Brats coming out on top 3-2 advancing them to the tournament championship. The Championship found the Brats facing the soon to be 16/under Central Mass Rapids for the second time(the first meeting on Saturday resulted in an extra inning 1-1 tie)The Brats hung with the older team before finally being edged 4-2. The Semi's(which should have been the championship game)found the Brats pitted against the Hudson Heat. The Brats led till the 5th inning 1-0 before allowing 3 unearned runs. The Brats battled back in the 7th but came up 1 run short losing 3-2 and giving them the 3rd place finish. The Bay State Brats competed in the ASA Regionals in Methuen, MA. this past weekend. The Brats had a very successful weekend finishing the tournament with an overall record of 5&2. The Brats started the tournament with 3 straight wins before suffering their first loss. They rebounded nicely with 2 more wins before getting eliminated in the 1/4 finals. Brenna Morrissey led the Brats offense with 10 hits on the weekend with Caelyn Ford & Katie Donnelly next with 6 apiece. Hannah Everson was next with 5, while Chelsea Durso & Kate Murray each having 4. The Brats pitching was outstanding once again. Some of the highlights included Chelsea Durso's no-hitter over the Hudson Heat#2, Hannah Everson had a 1 hitter against the Ladybucks of Maine, while both pitchers combined on a 1-hitter, two 2-hitters, & a 3 hitter. They allowed only 2 earned runs in 24 innings pitched. on Friday night. Saturday was a complete wash as it rained all day. The rained shortened tournament went into Sundays single elimination portion with the matchups being randomly?? selected. The Brats drew the always tough Leominster Firecrackers. For the 3rd time this year, the 2 teams battled to a 2-1 decision with the Bay State Brats winning this one. The Brats then advanced to the semi-finals against the Southern Maine Flames. The Brats led till the 5th inning but let up 4 runs to the Flames, eliminating them and finishing 3rd in the tournament. The Brats were led offensively by Jayme Bilafer who had 4 hits on the weekend. Brenna Morrissey was next with 3, while Chelsea Durso & Katie Donnelly each had 2. Hannah Everson pitched great all weekend, allowing only 2 earned runs in 21 innings, while striking out 16. There were many highlights over the weekend: the pitching of Hannah Everson, the defense of Brenna Morrissey, game winning hits by Kyrie Schaufenbil, Chelsea Durso, & Katie Donnely, & especially the way we played together as a team. this past weekend in New Haven, CT. The Brats finished the round robin portion of the tournament with a perfect 3 & 0 record earning them the #1 seed in the 12 team tournament. The Brats got excellant pitching from Chelsea Durso & Hannah Everson. On Saturday Chelsea threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 beating the Connecticut Cyclones 13-0, Hannah threw a pair of 1-hitters striking out a combined 22 batters with victories over the Norwalk Starz 3-1 and the Connecticut Breakers 8-0. On Sundays single elimination portion of the tournament, Hannah & Chelsea combined on a 4-hitter while striking out 11 to beat the Norwalk Starz 4-3 in an exciting 9 inning game advancing them into the semi-finals. Caelyn Ford had a game winning bunt in the bottom of the 9th. Chelsea added an amazing run saving catch in the 8th inning. The Brats were eliminated in the semi finals to host team Connecticut Charmers finishing the tournament with an incredible 4 & 1 record. The Brats weekend leader offensively was Katie Donnely with 7 hits, Kyrie Schaufenbil was next with 5, while Hannah Everson,Jayme Bilafer, & Chelsea Durso each added 4. The Brats next play in the "Memorial Day Classic" in Dracut on the weekend of May 25th-26th.
