The Baysox started in 1997
The Baysox won the 14u AAU Pacific Association Championships in 1997 and 1998 to qualify for the National Championships. The Baysox sent a team to the 17u AAU National Championship in 2000 and plan to send a 14u, 17u and 18u team in 2001. Baysox travel teams are affiliated with American Legion ,AAU and USSSA Baseball . Our home field is Fitzgerald Field in Benicia, CA.

Baysox Baseball Club Objective
To teach youth and adults the intricacies of the sport of baseball, to develop and perpetuate in them an interest and a love for the game,and to provide an opportunity for them to compete in tournament competition leading to state, regional and world series championships in their respective age classifications.


Baysox Start Season with 3 wins over Fairfield
Brett Muratori, Ryan Widenmann and Jim Dalby each picked up wins as the Baysox sweep Fairfield Solano Garbage.
The 2002 season looks promising as the Baysox start 3-0.

Congratulations to Chris Gruler #3 pick and Adam Elliot #177
Chris Gruler was the 3rd pick in the MLB Draft and Adam Elliot was the 177th pick. Both players pitched in games during previous Fall seasons for the Baysox.

Rod Beck Still Pitches for the Baysox
Baysox Stay Undefeated in League Play
Benicia swept 2 game from Vacaville Sat. by the score of 9-5 and 15-0. On Sun. Benicia defeated the Napa Riverdogs 14-6.

Baysox Edge Fairfield Holiday Inn to Remain Perfect
Benicia Beat Fairfield Holiday Inn 5-3 Wed. evening at Fitz. to remain undefeated in League play with a 11-2 overall record.

The Baysox take 2nd Place Trophy at Fairfield Tournament
The Baysox beat the Oakland Oaks 8 to 6 behind the pitching of Ryan Widenman to advance to the Championship game at the Mr. C's Tournament in Fairfield. Benicia lost to Solano Garbage 15 to 6 in the Championship to take 2nd place.

Baysox take 2 out of 3 games over Petaluma
The Benicia Baysox lost their first league came as they split a double header vs. Petaluma Sat. evening at Fitz. The Baysox beat Petaluma 4-1 in the first game and lost 1-0 in the nightcap. Jim Dalby and Marc Service pitched the first game for the win. Ryan Widenmann pitched a great game giving up only one hit and still took the lose in the second game as the Baysox bats were silent. Sunday the Baysox defeated Petaluma 9-4 to take 2 out of three games for the weekend.

DJ Butler picked for USA Baseball National Team Trials in AZ
Our hats off to Baysox Center Fielder DJ Butler for being chosen to tryout for the USA Baseball Youth National Team Trials in Tucson Ariz. July 1/6. He is one of 36 sixteen year old players from across the US that were chosen. The final 18 players chosen will play in the Pan Am Championships in Barquisimeto, Venezuela Aug. 23 thru Sept. 1. Good luck DJ the Baysox and Benicia are proud of you.

Baysox Sweep Napa to gain #1 seed for District Championship
The Benicia Baysox traveled to Vintage High on Sat. and beat Napa 14-8 and 19-7 which completed a sweep over the Napa Jr. Legion Team for the Baysox. The win should give the Baysox the #1 seed in the District 5 Championships on July 23rd thru the 28th.

Benicia Splits Double Header on Friday.
The Baysox (18-4) won the first game vs, Danville 11-1 and lost the second game 14-6 to Alameda. Brett Muritori got the win going 5 innings allowing NO HITS and NO runs.Marc Service got the save. In the second game the Baysox gave up to much to early as they fell behind 8-2 in the 2nd inning. The Baysox rally fell short.

The Baysox end Regular Season with 13-1 Win Over Vacaville
The Baysox finish league play with a 13-1 win over Vacaville. Every Baysox batter got a hit. Top hitters, Jordan Lago was 4 for 5 and Tyler Herb was 3 for 4. Marc Service got the win as the starter and pitching 3 strong innings. Benicia finished league play with a 13-1 record and will enter District play as the #1 seed.

Baysox Drop 2 Close Games Against Chico.
In game 1 Brett Muratori pitched a 3 hitter for the Baysox. Chico's Dan Miller however threw a 2 hitter at the Baysox as Benicia lost 4-1. In the nightcap both teams had 9 hits as Chico prevailed 8-6.

Baysox are 2002 District 5 Jr. Legion CHAMPIONS.
The Benicia Baysox beat Solano Garbage of Fairfield 6 - 2 for the District 5 Jr. American Legion Title on Friday in Fairfield. Jim Dalby went the distance for the Win. Sean Plaisted led the way at the plate with a triple and a double. Benicia advances to the Area 1 Championships starting 7-31 in Chico, CA.

Baysox Qualify for the Area 1 Tournament in Chico July 31st
The Baysox will travel to Chico, CA to play in the Area 1 Championship starting Wed.July 31st. The Baysox will play Capitol Christian (Sacramento) ,the runner up from District 6, at 9:00am at Butte College in Oroville. Game 2 on Thursday will also be at Butte College. The Baysox will play either Auburn or Faifield in game 2. The Tournament will move to Doryland Field In Chico for the Fri., Sat. and Sun games

Baysox Make it to the Final 4 in the Calif. State Finals.
The Benicia Baysox beat Los Banos 12-2 Sunday morning to advance to the Junior Legion Final 4 in the California State Championship.

Baysox Can't Take Out the Garbage.
The Baysox were the only undefeated team (4-0) in the area Championship and had to be beat twice for the Championship. The night before they were notified that 2 teams would go to the State Championship from Area 1. With a little less intensity the Baysox lost 2 games to Fairfield Solano Garbage and fell to the #2 seed.

Baysox make it to the 2002 California State Championship.
The Baysox Junior Legion season came to an abrupt halt in Yountville as Benicia was defeated by Danville. This was the first Legion team from Benicia to ever make the State Playoffs. Marina from Huntington Beach beat Danville on 2-1 to win the State Championship. The Baysox (1-2) had to settle for 4th place.

Marina Beat Troy 10-9 in 11 inings on Mon. to advance to the Championship game. Marina beat Danville 2-1 for the Championship.

Baysox are 2003 Alan Owen Champions!
The Baysox Junior Legion team defeated Nor Cal 7-4 on Monday to capture their first Alan Owen Memorial Day Baseball Classic title in 7 years. DJ Butler was selected tournament MVP and Jason Pickett was awarded the Gold Glove award. Ryan Bottini pitched a complete game for the win. The Baysox got to the Championship game by defeating the San Jose Vipers 7-3. The Baysox bats didn't wake up until the top of the seventh when Tyler Herb smashed a Grand Slam over the left field fence to put the Baysox ahead for good.

Baysox Jr. Legion Sweeps Fairfield Solano Garbage.
The Baysox Junior Legion team took a pair of wins from Solano Garbage to improve their league record to 4 - 0. The Senior Baysox split a doubleheader with Petaluma and are 2 - 3 in league, the good news is that every team in their league has at least 2 loses.

Tim Masters selected First Team All Conference at NVC
Tim Masters was selected to the 2003 Bay Valley All Conference First Team as an outfielder for Napa Valley College he played high school baseball for Benicia High. Other Baysox still playing baseball in College are Scott Lemone, Chico State; Joe Gevas CS Dominguez Hills; Mike Mendonsa, Los Medanos College;Eldrid Hunter, Grambling; Evan Kesteloot, Diablo Valley College; Kevin Kopple, Napa Valley College and Daren Wheat, Diablo Valley College.

Baysox are the Mr. C's 2003 Tournament CHAMPIONS !
The Baysox Junior Legion team defeated Danville 12 - 11 to capture the 2003 17th Annual Mr. C's Baseball Tournament in Fairfield.

Mike Rider Signs with Toronto Blue Jays.
Congratulations to former Baysox Mike Rider who recently signed with the Toronto Blue Jays. Mike played in tournaments with the Baysox during the fall season of 2000. Mike was drafted out of high school in 2001 by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays but did not sign. He attended Consumnes College the last 2 years.

Baysox are Crowned the 2003 District 5 Champions.
The Baysox Junior Legion 17 and under team beat Solano Garbage 6 - 2 Friday night in Fairfield. The win gave the Baysox the 2003 District 5 Championship. They will advance to the Area Tournament in Sacramento which begins on Wednesday at El Camino High School. The Baysox are shooting to improve on their 4th place finish at the 2002 California State Championship.

Baysox to post 13/14 team on Monday.
The Baysox 13/14 team will post rosters on this site on Monday. The delay is due to the State Chmpionship this weekend for the 17u TEAM.

Baysox finish 4th in State, lose to Danville 13 - 4.
The Baysox got a bad histoy lesson today as Danville ousted the Baysox from the State Jr. Legion Tournament for the second straight year. Tied 3-3 in the 5th inning Danville scored 10 runs to defeat the Baysox
The Baysox won 4 tournaments and qualified for the State Championship for the second straight year.

The 2004 Baysox Season Starts Memorial Day.
The Baysox 17U Junior Legion and 19U Senior Legion teams will start the 2004 season on Memorial Day.

Baysox Capture 3rd Straight District 5 Championship.
The Baysox defeated Fairfield Holiday Inn 8-3 for the Championship. The Baysox now travel to Chico for the Area 1 Tournament and will try to qualify for the California State Championship which will be held in Yountville in 2 weeks.

Baysox defeated by Chico in Area Championship Game.
The Baysox lost to Chico in the Area Championship game and missed out on a 3rd straight trip to the California State Championship. Short handed with only 10 players the Baysox battled to make it to the Championship game. Great job!
