BAYS 99 STARS SPIRIT UNITED CHAMPS

The Bays 99 Stars had a stunning performance at Spirit United Kickoff Classic 2009. The Stars opened their season with winning the tournament by knocking off Lower Merion Rat Pack, LDC United Italia and HYSC Xtreme in the group play. The Stars made it to the final and faced a well organized and very strong West Chester Predators 98. Grant Robinson opened the score in the 5th minute for the Stars and a second goal was scored on an individual effort by Kenny Rowe. Every player on the team played their hearts out during the tournament under enormous expectations and extremely hot weather. West Chester narrowed the lead in the second half but the Stars ontinued the high pressure and had several other close chances. A fantastic championship game for the fans and coaches to watch. The teams will meet again in the Delco League this fall.

Street Soccer

The benefits of street soccer are undeniable—all of the best players in the world grow up playing it. In the street the game is open and free and a place where one can experiment and be creative without reprimand or fear of failure.  Unfortunately, unlike in most of the world, in the United States a street soccer culture does not really exist.  We want to create  the Brazilian culture in our youth. All you need is a ball. Want teammates or opponents?—grab some friends. Want a goal?—throw some jackets on the ground or pull a garbage can near a tree. Street soccer is the small-sided or individual, informal game that is played by millions of people around the world, and it's how the best players learn their trade. It's the game in the street, in the playground, in the empty lot, in the backyard. It's 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or whatever. It's mastering ball tricks by yourself or just having a kickabout with your friends.  We believe that a vibrant street soccer culture is necessary to create elite soccer players. Besides, playing street soccer is fun, and quite simply the more opportunities that anyone has to play the better.
