Tino Salgado lead Bielan with 3 singles, Brian Cotter had a double and a single, and Nick Vasquez, Nye Armstrong, and Ryan Mc Namara had singles. COLDWELL BANKER 8 KUHL'S 5 Coldwell scored 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth to send them to the Championship series against De Sena. Brandon Porcelli lead Coldwell with 2 singles, Mike De Pazo and CJ Cerbone doubled, and Kyle Goworek, Conor Farley, Josh Roberts, and Liam O'Brien, all had singles. Dane Sabo lead Kuhl's with a triple and single, and Gabe Van Buren singled.
Saturday, September 12 MAJOR LEAGUE CITY SERIES UNICO 8 BIG APPLE 4 Mujtaba Mansoor lead Unico with 3 hits, including a double; Nick Cerbone had 2 singles and played an excellent defensive game at shortstop, Mackenzie Brown doubled, and Mike Orlowski and Parish Ferenczy both had singles. Drew D'Avella lead Big Apple with 3 singles, Jacob Mc Namara had a double and a single, and Mike Mc Kittrick, Thomas Hojnacki, and Kevin Restrepo all had singles. J & J PRINTING 3 HUDACKO'S 0 (8 INNINGS) Sean Crowley hit a walk off 3 run homer over the center field fence to win the game for J & J Ethan Kuhl and Mike Ripp lead off the inning with single. Brandon Pilovsky pitched the first 6 innings for J & J, giving up no hits, striking out 18, and walking 1, while Frankie Di Pillo struck out 17, walked 3 and gave up 1 hit, a single by Mike Ripp. Crowley got the win in relief. Joe Squitieri pitched in relief for Hudacko's and struck out 3. Mike Ripp had 2 hits for J & J. J & J PRINTING 5 BIG APPLE 4 J & J took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a walk to Joe Kopacz and a 2 run homer by Brandon Pilovksy; Big Apple tied the game in the bottom of the inning, on a single by Mike Mc Kittrick whose scored on Bruno D'Avella's double, D'Avella tied the game on a passed ball. Big Apple took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second when Kevin Restrepo walk, advanced to second and third on passed balls, and scored on a error. In the top of the third, Sean Crowley doubled, and scored on a single by Kopacz, Pilovsky reached first on a fielders choice, and scored on a wild pitch to give J & J a 4-3 lead. D'Avella tied the game in the third with a solo home run over the center field fence, but J & J took the lead in the fifth on a double by Crowley, and a triple by Kopacz. In addition the the hits by Crowley, Kopacz, and Pilovsky, Nick Vaccaro singled; for Big Apple, in addition to the key hits by Mc Kittrick and D'Avella, Thomas Hojnacki doubled and Kevin Restrepo had a single. HUDACKO'S 3 UNICO 0 For Hudacko's, Rocco Bleich and Dave Lombana combined on a 4 hitter and 15 strikeouts. Nick Cerbone and Kapil Kanakaraj combined to give up 2 hits for Unico with 9 strikeouts. Hudacko's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a walk to Charlie Forker and a double by Lombana, in the fifth, Frankie Di Pillo walked, and Bleich hit a 2 run homer. Mackenzie Brown lead Unico with 2 singles, while Brandon Paugh and Kanakaraj singled. J & J PRINTING 5 HUDACKO'S 0Brandon Pilovsky pitched a 2 hitter, struck out 14, and homered in the sixth inning. J & J scored all their runs in the last inning. Sean Crowley and Joe Kopacz lead J & J with 2 hits; Frankie Di Pillo pitched a strong game for Hudacko's giving up 2 hits and striking out 13, but he had to leave the game due to the pitch count rule, Di Pillo also had a triple, Joe Calo had the only other hit for Hudacko's. UNICO 17 BIG APPLE 8 Brandon Paugh lead Unico with a triple, double, and single, and drove in 4 runs, Mackenzie Brown had 2 triples and a single, and drove in 2 runs, Kapil Kanakaraj had 3 singles and 2 rbi's, Mujtaba Mansoor had a triple and a single and Nick Cerbone singled; Thomas Hojnacki lead Big Apple with a 2 run homer and a 2 run single, Jacob Mc Namara also homered, Kevin Restrepo drove in a run wth with a double, and had a single, Anthony Carr also had double and a single, and Drew D'Avella, Mike Castaldo, Mike Scarpa, Alex Polishchuk, and Jose Colon all had singles.HUDACKO'S 12 BIG APPLE 5 Frankie Di Pillo and Rocco Bleich were the leading hitters for Hudacko's, Di Pillo had a grand slam and a single, and Bleich hit a double and a single, Charlie Forker tripled, and Marc Wissen, Kyle Necklen, and Will Curtis all had singles; Andrew D'Avella lead Big Apple with a grand dlam homer and a single, Jacob Mc Namara had 2 doubles and Ronnie Romano had a single. UNICO 3 J & J PRINTING 2 The victory by Unico force a tie, with both teams being 3-1. Unico's pitcher, Nick Cerbone, and J & J's Joe Kopacz both pitched strong games. Cerbone gave up 2 hits and struck out 8, while Kopacz gave up 3 hits and struck out 12. In the bottom of the first inning, Mackenzie Brown singled and scored on a fielders choice, J & J tied the game in the 4th on a single by Andrew Doherty and a double by Sean Crowley, J & J took a 2-1 lead in the 4th on a walk to Brandon Pilovsky, who scored on a passed ball. in the bottom of the 5th, Mark Orlowski and Vinnie Barbarise lead off the inning with walks, and they both came home on Cerbone's triple; J & J loaded the bases in the top of the sixth, but Unico was able to get the final out, when catcher Mark Orlowski tagged out the runner from third base, who had attempting to steal home. Cerbone lead Unico with 2 hits, and Brown singled; for J & J, Crowley.
J & J PRINTING 1 UNICO 0 J & J Printing clinched the 2009 City Championship. Brandon Pilovsky pitched a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts, and a lead-off walk. Pilovsky also homered over the center field fence for the games only run. Nick Cerbone also pitched an excellent game, giving up 2 hits, striking out 11, and walking 3. Sean Crowley had the only other hit, a double down the left field line.
Wednesday, September 16 JUNIOR MINOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME 1 DE SENA WINS OPENING GAME De Sena took a 1-0 lead in the Junior Minor Leaue Championship series with a 13-3 win over Coldwell Banker. De Sena took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and put the game away in the second by scoring 4 more runs. Shane Donahue lead De Sena with a perfect day at the plate getting 4 singles Deavonte Smith had a double and a single, James Tyminski had 2 singles, Frankie Voulo doubled, and Bryan Baranok, Brandon Kuhl, and Johnny O'Brien had singles; CJ Cerbone lead Coldwell with a double and a single, Liam O'Brien had 2 singles, and Mike De Pazo had a single. Game 2 is Friday at 6 PM. GAME 2 DE SENA WINS JUNIOR MINOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP Neil De Sena is the 2009 Junior Minor League champion. They claimed the title by beating Coldwell Banker in the second game of the series 7-2. Devonte Smith and James Tyminski combined on a 5 hitter with 11 strikeouts. Smith also had a big game at the plate getting 2 hits and driving in a run, Lance Luccarelli doubled, and Tyminski, Brandon Kuhl, Zack Balint, and Brian Baranok all had singles; De Sena also had great defense from Dionna Lenardo who made 3 outstanding plays at second base, and Kuhl who made a one-handed grab of a line-drive to safe a base-hit, and doubled up the runner at first base, for Coldwell, Liam O'Brien drove in both of his team's runs in the sixth inning with a double, Conor Farley lead Coldwell with 2 singles, Josh Roberts and Mike De Pazo also had hits.
