Bay Area Senior Softball Association: Welcome
SPRING SEASON FINAL STANDINGS - The rains knocked out the final day of the Spring season BASSA league play, resulting in a lost opportunity to get a clean winner and Champion for the Eastern Division. Leroy Penn's Team A and Archie Palisol's Team D finished tied for first place with records of 16 wins, 9 losses and 1 tie. In the Western Division, Johnny Hughes' Team 1 wrapped up the spring Championship with several games to go and coasted to a 4 game margin over Lance Lichnerowicz's guys. SUMMER AND FALL BASSA PLANS -
Summer workouts for the BASSA league will start Wednesday, July 7th. These workouts start about 9:30 A.M. and provide players with the opportunity to take batting practice and maybe play a pick-up game, so if you're up to a workout in the summer heat, come on out.
The Fall season for the BASSA League will begin on Wednesday, September 8th, and is scheduled to run through Thursday, November 11th. If a Spring-Fall Championship playoff game is necessary (I.E. if different teams win the Spring and Fall Championships), the playoff game will be played at 11:30 A.M. November 11th, right after the final scheduled league game.

Welcome to the BASSA (Bay Area Senior Softball Association) web site. The BASSA is a non-profit organization in the Pasadena and southeast Houston area established to provide an organized and affordable opportunity for senior citizens (50+ years of age as of the end of the current year) to enjoy fun and competition in the sport of senior slow pitch softball.
The BASSA uses sponsor support and a minimal player registration fee of only $60 per player to provide teams with league games played on weekday mornings at the Harris County provided Kipper Mease facility on Redbluff Road (just northeast of Bay Area Boulevard), with games starting at 9:00 A.M. and 10:15 A.M. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The BASSA league has 2 "seasons", a spring season that runs from early March through the end of June, and then a fall season running from early September through mid November. The league has had 8 teams and over 100 players for the last several years, with the teams normally divided into 2 four team divisions based on the skill level of the players. Players are drafted by the 8 managers before the season starts so as to have the teams set up with approximately equal competitive abilities.
