Virginia Baseball Club, Inc.: About the VBC

About Us

The Virginia Baseball Club is a complete baseball and softball academy. We provide personalized instructional training programs, classes, and camps for each level of the game, from beginners to advanced. The VBC has been providing Northern Virginia with quality instructional programs since 1992. Our year-round programs at our indoor and outdoor facilities located throughout Northern Virginia are convenient for players inside and around the beltway. In addition to offering a high level of instruction, we make playing baseball a positive experience for players of all ages and abilities. See VBC video

AN EDUCATION-BASED APPROACH   Our success is due largely to the fact that we understand that the instruction is only as good as the instructor, and the strength of our programs is our experienced staff of teaching professionals, including former and current professional players.  Our well-organized curriculums are education-based, developed by VA certified professional educators/coaches who have years of experience working with players of all ages. We keep SMALL CLASS RATIOS in all of our programs. Our experienced staff of coaches are trained to understand the cognitive and physical abilities of each level.  In other words, our coaches know how to connect with players and train them at the appropriate level.

We are pleased to announce our partnership with MVP Baseball School, led by Mark Gjormand (Madison HS Head Baseball Coach) and Scott Rowland (former Oakton HS Head Baseball Coach).

TWO "NEW" INDOOR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL TRAINING CENTERS in Merrifield and Occoquan. Year-around training. Beautiful new facilities with outstanding lighting. Each with multiple batting cages, pitching lanes, drill areas, video room, and comfortable waiting areas. Wi-Fi internet access at the VBC Merrifield Indoor Training Center.

OUR TEACHING METHODS are time tested and delivered by veteran coaches. We understand the different levels of cognitive and physical development of players and apply appropriate teaching techniques. All of our winter classes are small groups, 4:1 ratio or less. We strive to make each session informative and valuable, as well as enjoyable. We use helpful teaching tools and video technology. Our philosophy is that "PLAYERS LEARN BY DOING!" That means less talk and more hands-on learning. We do not teach hitting by just using tees and soft toss. Hitters learn by hitting, and our hitters see plenty of live batting practice pitching in each session., Players receive informative and valuable feedback during batting practice, while not being subjected to long lectures. Our programs are well-organized so that players are actively participating, recieve plenty of live swings, throws and touches, while getting game-like practice.

We utilize VIDEO TECHNOLOGY to optimize learning. Players' skills are uploaded to our VBC "Skillview" website. Players, coaches and parents may view the video in real time or in slow motion. Frame-by-frame VBC coach comments accompany each video.

The VBC and Positive Coaching Alliance Partnership
