TWO DRILL

We conduct tryouts inside as well. We have gone from having numerous drills to having just two drills, ground balls throwing to a first baseman and sprints. Last year we had a local sports camp and clinic instructor join our Board of Directors and questioned this simplicity. We allowed him to do a fly ball drill and evaluate the players himself. The other drills had approx. 12 evaluators. When the day was done and the numbers were compiled his we separate the order was almost exact with the other evaluators. The point is a great deal can be noticed about the players athleticism and fundamentals from just the two drills. We are going to set up a soft toss station to evaluate the players swing at the next tryout.
