Barnstable captures the District 7 Title

On Monday, July 11 in Wareham, the Barnstable American All-Stars played Sandwich for the title of District 7 Champions and the chance to move forward to the MA State Tournament. In a tight game with great pitching from both Sandwich and Barnstable, it was a 3 run homer from Tyler Jones that put Barnstable in the lead in the 5th inning. Griffin Burke and Chris Holcomb pitched a great game and were supported by some heads up defense by their teammates in the field. Bobby Harrington had a great catch in right field to end the game.

There are 18 reported teams in District 7. They encompass Cape Cod and the Islands. In the double elimination tournament, which began on June 24th, Barnstable performed well and earned the title  going undefeated in the series.

There are approx. 225 (12 year old's)  Little League teams in 16 Districts in Massachusetts.  The 16 Districts each have a tournament to determine a winner. That winner represents their District in the Sectional Tournament. The 16 Districts are grouped to form 4 Sections. Barnstable American All Stars is in Section 2 with the winners from Districts 5,6, & 8. The Round Robin format tournament begins July 20th in Braintree, MA. Game 2 is Thursday, July 21 in Barnstable at Lorusso Field against the District 6 Champion. Game 3 is in Middleboro on Friday, July 22 agains the District 5 Champion.  The first and second place teams play  for the Section 2 Championship Title on Sunday, July 24th.

The winner of the Sectionals moves on to the Massachusetts State Tournament.

The winner of the MA State Tournament moves on to the New England Region Tournament. 

Barnstable shuts out Sandwich 8-0
In the 4th game of the double elimination series which includes over 15 teams in the Cape and Islands region, Barnstable beat Sandwich sending them to the second elimination bracket. With 4 wins Barnstable has won the winners bracket and now awaits to see their opponent as the one loss each bracket plays out. The remaining team will play Barnstable on Monday, July 11th in Wareham at 5:30 pm. The winner of that game is named the District 7 Champion and moves on to the Sectional Tournament beginning in July.

On a winning streak and hitting bonanza, the boys shut down E. Bridgewater All Stars in the 4th inning due to the 10 run slaughter rule. Final Score: 12-2

Wednesday, June 29
Barnstable beats Bridgewater in Game 2

The boys travelled to Bridgewater Tuesday the 28th to take on the Bridgewater All Stars. Chris Holcomb pitched for Barnstable allowing no runs in the game which was called in the 4th inning according to the Slaughter Rule. Griffin Burke started off strong at bat with a homerun. Chris Weber hit a bomb in the 2nd inning with the bases loaded bringing the score 5-0. Tyler Jones also had a home run! CJ McCabe had an RBI and so did Ben Stacy, with a nice hit to center field, bringing CJ McCabe home in the 4th for the 10th run, ending the game. Barnstable wins game 2: 10-0

Monday, June 27
Barnstable Wins first game of the D7 Tourny

Sunday, June 25th Barnstable All-Stars played Brockton in a lopsided matchup. Chris Holcomb and Andrew Atsalis split the pitching allowing no runs. CJ McCabe hit for 2 homeruns while Bobby Harrington and Griffin Burke each had one. The game ended in the 4th just as the fog was rolling in. Final Score Barn 33-0

Game 1
The first game for the American All-Star team will be held Sunday, June 26th at Lorusso Field at 2:00 pm vs. Brockton South-West.
