First Year of the Team 1996
There were no state qualifiers in 1995-96. Two wrestlers were one match from placing at the regionals; senior Shawn Sigmon (28-8) and sophomore Sean Page (19-6)

State Qualifiers for 1997
After only two years of wrestling Bandys places 4th in the West Regional and has four state qualifiers. The Trojans finished 12th in the 1A/2A state tournament.

135lbs - So. Chris Douglas (12-11) placed 4th in the regional and went 1-2 in the state tournament.

145lbs - Jr. Jason Sigmon (38-8) placed third in the regional tournament and went 2-2 in the state tournament.

171lbs - So. Greg Bennett (30-3) was the regional runner-up and went 2-2 in the state tournament.

189lbs - Jr. Sean Page (22-6) placed 4th in the regional tournament and went 2-2 in the state tournament.

State Qualifiers for 1998
In 1997-98 Bandys were the West Regional Runners-Up and they placed 7th in the State Tournament. The team had six state qualifiers.

112lbs - Fr. Eric Burns (36-9) placed 3rd in the regional tournament. He went 2-2 in the state tournament.

145lbs - So. Jerry Smith (30-14) placed 3rd in the regional and went 1-2 in the state tournament.

152lbs - Sr. Jason Sigmon (46-2) was the regional tournament champion and the tournament MOW. After the regional he suffered from the flue. Neverless, he won his first two matches at the state tournament then lost his last two matches and finished tied for 5th in the state tournament.

171lbs - Jr. Greg Bennett (33-3) was the regional champion. He placed third at the state tournament. Bennett tore his ACL in the last football game of the next year and could not wrestle his senior season.

189lbs - Sr. Sean Page (28-7) was the regional runner-up and finished tied for 5th at the state tournament the next week.

275lbs - Jr. Jarvis McCullough (34-3) placed 3rd in the regional and 4th in the state tournament.

State Qualifiers for 1999
In 1998-99 Bandys won the West Regional Tournament and were the 1A/2A State Runners-Up. The team had seven state qualifiers.

103lbs - Ishmael Sifford (34-14) placed 3rd in the regional and was tied for fifth in the state tournament.

119lbs - Clinton Kannenberg (30-14) placed 4th in the regional and went 0-2 in the state tournament.

125lbs - Fr. Eric Burns (44-6) was the Regional Champion and the State Runner-Up.

135lbs - Fr. Lucas Bandy (32-16) placed 4th in the regional and went 1-2 in the state tournament. Lucas defeated a state runner-up in his second match but broke his ankle in the third match and had to injury default from the tournament.

152lbs - Jr. Sean McIntosh (47-1) Sean placed third in the regional. He lost by DQ. He went on to win the 1A/2A State Championship the next week becoming bandys first State Champion!

160lbs - Jr. Chris Douglas (25-4) was the regional runner-up. He went 0-2 in the state tournament.

275lbs - Sr. Jarvis McCullough (46-1) won the Regional and State Tournament Championships.


State Qualifiers for 2000
In 1999-00 Bandys was the West Regional Champion and the 1A/2A State Tournament Runners-Up for the second straight year. The team had seven state qualifiers.

112lbs - So. Ishmael Sifford (34-20) was the regional runner-up. Ishmael injured his knee in the regional finals. He bravely wrestled in the state tournament and won one match. This helped enable Bandys to place second in the tournament! This also earned him our Team Before Self Award for 2000.

119lbs - So. Ronnie Ling (30-14) placed 3rd in the regional but was injured and did not wrestle in the state tournament.

130lbs - Jr. Eric Burns (21-1) was the Regional Champion and State Topurnament Champion.

145lbs - So. Lucas Bandy (43-11) placed 3rd in the regional and was tied for 5th in the state tournament.

152lbs - Jr. Josh Grindel (47-8) placed second in the regional and placed 4th in the state tournament.

160lbs - Sr. Sean McIntosh (56-0) was the Regional Champion and Regional MOW. Sean won his second State Championship in 2000. Sean was also named Wrestling USA Magazine High School All-American. In 2000 Sean won the National Dave Shultz Award for North Carolina.

189lbs - So. James McCleave (23-20) placed 4th in the regional and went 0-2 in the state tournament.



State Qualifiers for 2001
In 2000-01 Bandys were the West Regional runners-Up and they placed third in the 1A/2A State tournament. The team had six state qualifiers.

112lbs Jr. Ishmeal Sifford (15-12) placed 3rd in the regional and was tied for fifth in the state tournament.

130lbs - Sr. Neil Robinson (23-23) placed 4th in the regional and went 2-2 in the state tournament.

140lbs - Eric Burns (44-4) became a three-time Regional Champion and a two-time State Champion.

152lbs - Jr. Lucas Bandys (39-10) placed 4th in the regional and went 0-2 at the state tournament.

160lbs - Daren Burns (46-5) was the Regional Champion and placed 3rd in the state tournament.

171lbs - Josh Grindle (39-8) placed 3rd in the regional and placed 3rd in the state tournament.

State Qualifiers for 2002
In 2001-02 Bandys finished third in the Midwest Regional Tournament and 5th in the State tournament. The team had five state qualifiers.

103lbs - Fr. Jerry Stogner (44-16) placed 3rd in the regional and was tied for fifth in the state tournament.

135lbs - Sr. Richard (II) Riggins (26-21) placed second in the regional.   He went 0-2 in the state tournament.

152lbs - Fr. Craig McIntosh (52-11) placed 3rd in the regional. He was the State Champion for 2002.

171lbs - Sr. Lucas Bandy (52-8) was the regional champion. He was tied for fifth in the state tournament.

189lbs - Jr. Daren Burns ((59-1) was the regional champion and the MOW. He won his first State Championship in 2002.

State Qualifiers for 2003
In 2002-03 Bandys placed 3rd in the Midwest Regional Tournament and 4th in the State tournament. The team had five state qualifiers.

103lbs - Fr. Matt Stogner (30-15) placed 3rd in the regional and 6th in the state tournament.

112lbs - So. Jerry Stogner (45-8) plaed second at the regional and 4th at the state tournament.

119lbs - Fr. William Gilleland (44-8) was the regional champion and 2-2 at the state tournament.

145lbs - Fr. Byron Sigmon (44-3) was the regional champion and the state runner-up.

189lbs - Sr. Daren Burns (34-0) was the regional champion for the third straight year. He was voted by the coaches for a second time as the regional MOW. In the state tournament Daren won his second state championship.

State Qualifiers for 2004
In 2004 Bandys had eight state qualifiers. The team was the Midwest Regional Champions and finished tied with Brevard for the 1A/2A Individual State Tournament Championship. Bandys also had a team record of eight state qualifiers.

112lbs - So. Matt Stogner (41-14) placed 4th at the regional and 5th at the state tournaments.

119lbs - Jr. BJ Little (28-7) was the regional champion, but he did not wrestle at the state tournament.

125lbs - Jr. Jerry Stogner (43-9) placed 3rd at the regional and 6th at the state tournaments.

130lbs Fr. Partick McIntosh - (43-14) placed 3rd in the regional and 4th in the state tournaments.

135lbs - So. William gillelnad (52-8) was the regional champion and placed 5th at the state tournament.

152lbs - So. Byron Sigmon (49-1) was the regional and state tournament champion.

160lbs - Jr. Craig mcIntosh (36-3) was the regional champion and state runner-up

275lbs - So. Matt woodlief (27-7) placed 3rd in the regional and won two matches at the state tournament.
