Match Report
The first Superleague game of the season saw all three points go Banchory's way after a hard fought battle with East End. With Lewis Shand out injured, Magnus Barclay had his signing rushed through to the SFA after Deveronvale had agreed a season's loan from the Highland League outfit.

Saints started brightly enough playing down the slope with both wide men Allan Ogston and Andrew Courage causing problems. But with 20 minutes gone Courage sustained an injury and was replaced by Matty Reid.

Ogston tried his luck from 30 yards but his flashing shot went a foot past the post. Greg Sim had a good save from a pile driver, and at the other end Richard Stainer should have put Banchory ahead when he had a clear shot on goal, but shot straight at the keeper's legs.

But on the 35th minute, a loose bouncing ball was latched onto by Mark Galashan playing his first competitive game for Banchory since signing from Stonehaven, and his 35 yard volley went underneath the East End keepers body into the net.

Into the second half and it was the home side's turn to play down the slope, and Greg Sim was forced to make an early save when he tipped the ball over the bar. Then after 20 minutes he made a miraculous point blank save.

At this point Neale Henderson was replaced by Lee Shanks as East End forced the issue pinning Saints back for a spell. Stuart Skinner then replaced Keith Horne with 10 minutes left, and the substitute was prominent for the second goal as he heade into the box and fellow sub Lee Shanks hooked a shot high to the far post where the keeper lost it completely and seemed to palm the ball into the net.

East End were not done though and they hit the junction of bar and post with 2 minutes left.
